Wonderful stuff. This was my brother's area of expertise. He had the Matchbox Motorway Set, but never played with it. Even as a child he had the collecting and preserving bug. If he were still around today he would own these oldies as well. Fond memories.
Oh man, this was a cool set of unboxings! Back as a kid, before toy soldiers caught my attention I adored Matchbox cars. Remember going round to a friend's house and we played with his Streakaround set. Happy times! Thanks for another trip down Memory Lane 👏👍
Matchbox also made 'Race And Chase', a slot car system, but the cars could do U-turns. My brother had one. Hell of a toy. He literally played it to death. It had a police car with flashing lights, and another car, possibly a Stingray for the cops to chase. A lot of fun. Putting a bit of oil on the corners, let the cars go round sideways. Yes, really. Thank you for this. Another great hit of nostalgia. 👍👍👍
I remember those Race and Chase sets from back in the day. Only saw it in catalouges though. Will get one for sure. We did the same the same thing with a friends slot car track. Bit we put on to much oil so the cars got no traction anywhere on the track. It was a pain to clean up 😂
Don’t forget the see-saw ramp that the cars would go over. I had it too. In fact, still have it. It’s at my parents’ house, along with a standard Matchbox Powertrack set that came with a Corvette and a green Porsche 911. Great days! Probably haven’t set it up in 40 years!
The Countach is a Matchbox classic. It's based on the only prototype built. It doesn't exist anymore because they crashed it after a few years. The prototype looks quite different from the later production models. The Matchbox paintjob is toy only. The original was just warm yellow. There's lots of really cool promotion photos of it in front of a mansion with classy ladies posed on it. Too bad it's gone! That was a seriously beautiful car.
The later Matchbox slot car sets were upgraded to run on a 12 volt system & the cars will run on modern Micro Scalextric track. When Matchbox went bankrupt, a company called Dapol took over the manufacture & distribution of Powertrack.
Älskar den här skiten, SUPERkanal! Är mest inne på militära delen av Airfix och Matchbox även om "civilt" matchbox är mer nostalgi. Love this s**t, SUPER channel! Am mostly into the military part of Airfix and Matchbox although "civilian" matchbox is more nostalgia.
This type of stuff was the most cutting edge and high tech toy of the 70s. Scalextric were the best known, at least in the UK, made by Hornby the model train company. Another one I remember was TCR or Total Control Racing which I think was made by Airfix.
Try "Un-du" for removing tape, labels, decals, stickers, and more. Use on paper, cardboard, metal, plastic, nearly all surfaces. Stickers can be lifted off and then RE-USED as the Ud-du evaporates - leaving the adhesive still active! I thought of this with your misplaced track stickers. I wanted to tell you when you first posted this video, but UA-cam didn't like me telling you where you could find it. Look up and watch a few videos here on UA-cam demonstrating how well it works.
I sure hope so to. It wasn´t working in the way the seller had said. But I´m already online trying to find replacement parts for the cars and propper ways to clean tracks and contacts. It seem like I got a new hobby.....restoring Matchbox slot cars.
@@toysoldiernostalgia Feels like good value considering the excellent condition of the 1970s cars. Have still got some of those cars from my childhoot.... but no in that condition !!
Great seeing this stuff. So many of these old toys i had in the early 70s as a young kid. Thnks for the memories 😊

I'm with you and with your brother.

Good luck getting them up and running
Wow that´s more than generous. Will pay for two sets of rebuild kits I think. Much appriciated.
Unboxing there 1970 s vintage matchbox track sets!

I, too, had the Race 'n' Chase set and ran it into the ground, fantastic toy.

I also had the Matchbox Motorway. Those bloody long springs running around was quite noisy. Thanks.
That´s one set I have get soon. Looks so cool. But I think it´s gonna be hard to find a good set with working spring.

I had Superfast sets and cars and a super booster. Track ended up as roads in wargames.

Dapol they make/made trains right?
That's right, in an unusual move, they also produced a range of Doctor Who action figures.

TCR was the one were you could change lanes right?
@@toysoldiernostalgia Yes, you're right. I'd forgotten that.
Matchbox, if I recall correctly, also produced a lane changing slot car set.

I'm in early again, thanks for the entertainment.
How much did the first matchbox set (gravety power) cost you ? The cars in that set were in excellent condition.
I payed £55 for it.

Hot wheels had hard curves as well..
Ah ok they did back in the 70s? Today they are soft and they realy suck :)
