You can say, “It’s only mostly sanded.”

Very nice tray. Question: Why the change in tool types, as you progressed through the project?

Thank you! The initial change from the Proxxon was because it was a poorly designed tool, or a defective product, that burned out on me. The other tools, like the angle grinder is one I use often in carving, and seemed right for the shaping tasks. Sometimes I just break out tools because I haven't used them in a while too 😊

Very nice. As you were getting more and more aggressive with your tool selection while carving out the dished areas, I fully expected you to eventually grab the chainsaw. It does help us though seeing how each of the different tools held up under normal use. Thanks!

Please advise what wood are you making the tray from. Also what woods are safe to use with food as some woods are not safe.

It is made from maple, which is a wood very commonly used for utensils and cutting boards. I recommend doing an internet search for food safe woods, for anyone interested in that topic. Thanks for watching!

Princess Bride fan. :P If I had made this I would have left the natural edge too. It was so beautiful. Still amazing work and I love the end result. :D - Heidi

Thank you! I thought about leaving it natural but decided to clean off the grit because it will be used with food. It was pretty though...I agree. I maintained the basic natural shape as best I could. :)

Great looking tray. Any woman that cuts down on the amount of sanding you do is a keeper!
