Almost all V6 and V8s of that era do this. You hear a 2003 cayenne V8 N/A or a S500 pass by screaming yet you see the thing moves slowly. This is I think a perception by today’s standards. Back in the day a car having 250-300 hp was a lot and very special ones were above 300

2024 and i just realised that's what it is.
It's such an interesting engine tone, it has a bit of V6, a bit of V8, and I hear even a bit of V10 here

QKW200 1 only 2300 W8 were sold so nearly nobody wanted them.
Nearly 5k W8's were sold in the US.
it was a test for w8 engine wich was later introduced in veryon only double the number of cylinders
it was never mentioned to be a top sale car

It must be amazing driving this all day! I never really understood why people complain about a loud exhaust all the time.

Road trips with a constant drone get annoying. Plus sometimes you just want to go grab fast food late at night and don't want to draw attention to yourself.
Which is why second cars are great.

1 day i'm gonna buy a passat w8, people can say whatever they want but for me it is the ultimate car. Still at school so can't afford to buy it and keep it running at this moment but i still love my b5 1.8, if this one would get totalled for someone reason i would buy another passat. I love this car so much.

I have 1.8T too right now... the only reason I’d like a W8 is the cool-factor and the sound. It isn’t much faster than the 1.8T and also there are barely any parts for the W8 where I live

But I find it smooth and cute.
Most was v8 etc.
But vw was clever.
The w-engine not new original a areo engine.
But it shows that everything dose not have to be a vee engine half the time.
Vw also made a vw nardo with a w-12 engine before the bugatti w-16 engine.

Closed exhaust makes it sound like a trumpet. When open it's real nice.
I just check the kenteken - Licence plate check, and it says 4,0 W8 4motion :-)...with other words 3999 ccm / 275hp / 250 kmh / 6,8 sec to 100 kmh. Forgot already they've made such one then...Anyway, my opinion:+ Sounds good+ People will hear it from far and expect different car to pass by+ It's unussual for such car, so you Will see surprised faces- Police Will hear you from far and also be checking you more often (if everything is certified and homologated)- Sound is there, but is not moving as fast someone would expect it to move...Still a+ Since is not moving that fast, the sound Will be lasting longer :-))

Nie martw się. Przy manualnej skrzyni daje sobie radę z 99% aut seryjnych. Golf R co niby mocniejszy lzejszy i szybszy na papierze jest jakoś nie odjeżdża od w8 w automacie a manuala nie dogania... A podobno golf zapierdala 🤔

In Deutschland ist aber die wahrscheinlichkeit das eine von Hand steuerbare klappe nicht eingetragen bekommst sehr hoch und selbst wenn sie eingetragen iat und du wirst angehalten kannst du auch bei einem anderen Tüv vorgeführt werden und wenn die sagen weg mit dem teil kannste nix machen
Am besten wird die lautstärke per Smarphone App gemessen damit sie auch sehr genau ist
