As of now, mid July, this is exactly what I am experiencing with my bean plants. They are flowering but no fruits/beans. This video explains it very well. It's all about the temperature.
YES! Had so many on 2 plants last year! Are bush beans better? It is weather is even better this year... no beans but lots of plant.
Glad I found this video. First time growing beans and was getting frustrated.
Im glad it washelpful 👍
This explains alot. I have blooms but no beans. The Japanese beetles and grass hoppers are the only ones enjoying the leaves. It makes me mad to sit there watering leaves . .
Super helpful video! I was contemplating tossing my pole bean plants.
Me too
This was helpful. I was about to discard my pole beans but since we are at the end of August in Oklahoma, I think I’ll wait a bit to see if they produce. Temperatures still in the 90’s but the evenings are going down to the 70’s. Maybe I’ll get a few more beans.
Evenings in the 60's would be helpful. Hang in there! Good luck👍
TY will try more varieties next time.
Good luck🙂👍
@@growercoach Thank you!
This was very helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
They are called runner beans in Britain.Good Vid Thanks.
Thanks for the comments👍
Thank you. I needed to hear that.
😎👍

Bush are the same you just get more on the pole type👍
I wish I had seen this earlier! My beans came to a standstill in the heat wave. I tried a new variety this year - a bean which needs to be picked very young or it becomes tough. Disappointing! I am staying with purple pole beans and dragon tongue ( old Dutch variety) bush beans. Thanks for the info.
Good luck and thanks for the comment! Trying different varieties until you hit a good one is a good thing. Sounds like you have one (this purple variety) that works for your conditions so better luck next year👍
Thanks for this! What temp is too hot for Kentucky Wonder and Blue Lake Pole? I have flowers and no beans in late August. Temps in August have ranged between 79-91, so not a true heat wave. They've been flowering for the last 10 days. Starting today, I am giving them direct water to the bottoms of the palnts, instead of using a sprinkler. And maybe I'll add some more compost...
Feeding is a good idea. The plant really respond to cool nights. Our night temperatures have been very cool around 55 deg F this has triggered them to really kick in. We are harvesting twice per week now. Yours should kick in soon 👍
I love the look of pole beans but not getting much out of them even when it's not that hot. I won't give up on them though, maybe they'll produce later. My leaves are already turning yellow and orange though.
They may need richer soil and more fertilizer. They are a bit slow to start but once they start to climb they grow fast with lots of food. I plant them in about 5 inches of straight compost and fertilize as well.
What i thought i recalled happening when I started a few years ago. pole and bush beans all quiet, EXCEPT for my Oriental pole beans i planted late June- early July.
Did the Oriental beans produce this year already?
Thanks, this is the first year that it’s been too hot. I havent gotten any pole beans yet, when Im ususallly drowning in them. 😅😊
Ya me too. Last year we had lots by now this year none yet but Im hoping for a strong September👍
Thank you for your video, this makes sense. Here in MN we are not 46 C but it is hot, probably too hot for my pole beans, but they are remaining healthy so I'm hopeful to get some beans maybe mid-August? Are you in Canada?
Yes we are located in western Canada.
My pole beans are 6 to 8 feet tall. I have not had a flower yet. Can’t figure it out.
me either. I wish he would address that.
You will have to wait for the blooms. This year my pole beans have just started to bloom (late this year) and now its hot. 100 deg F. Im sure Ill get a few but they will stop blooming until it cools off a bit then bloom again. Every year is a bit different and the crop is weather dependant. I hope it cools off again soon.
@@growercoach you were correct, I now have blossoms and beans to pick. Thank you
I have no flowers grown on my vines 😢 did it first time but nothing. What could be the reason?
Good question, its hard to say what could cause the lack of blooms, is it self collected seed? Was the seed planted late, are the plants overly lush?
Te salut În mai am pus fasolea urcătoare a crescut frumos dar nu înflorește nu știu ce să zic
Do you think a shade tarp would have helped? Thanks
I think shade cloth is a great addition to a veggie garden during the hottest months for sure. I will be adding shade cloth next year.👍
Thanks! My beans look exactly like this -- super lush -- but NO flowers at all! My bush beans and sugar snaps have been producing for weeks already. This week has been cooler and I think I see flower buds starting? Should just wait or is there something else I can do?
Just have to wait it out. In Agust the nights usually cool off a bit and that can trigger a massive bloom.👍 Harvest in September.
Maaaan it's May in Florida and it's already too hot. Flowers falling off left and right.
I may pull them up and plant again in August…
They will just keep growing but as soon as they get a week of cool weather they will bloom again.
Would it help if you put a big umbrella over it to shade?
The best thing would be to use a product called shade cloth that reduces light intencity from the afternoon sun. I will be doing a vid on shade cloth this weekend. There are several products available.👍just set up a frame of some kind and drape the cloth over. Its good for most veggies and is more difficult to use on pole beans as they are on a tall structure. But it could be attatched to the structure its self???
What if no flowers are growing? I have raised gardens
The flowers will come after cool weather.
Try the captions on. This video and realize why deaf people are so angry
Ok will do thanks!
do not subject me to a trump ad. will not come here again
