I checked out the 201, and the 355t, after heavy researching, and checking out all reviews, I went with the 355t, Stihl's newer models have seemed to taken a different direction, in so doing I payed half the price of the stihl and got a longer warranty, the grip is also a plus, I do wish you the best with your in tree saw.
Yesterday, I pulled my 201 TC-Mtronic out of storage after 3 YEARS sitting idle (with a completely empty fuel tank). I refueled it (fresh V-Power Shell Nitro & new Stihl Hi Preformance 2-cycle engine oil) and brought the chain oil tank full level. After thoroughly inspecting it, I set the choke, genuflected, crossed my heart, said two "Hail Mary's" 🙏, crossed my heart again 😬, and then pulled the rope. IT FIRED IMMEDIATELY! So, how's that clamshell of yours doing?
Just get 2511t it will save ya shoulders and back and you can learn to make it work on any size tree for removals prunes whatever, just do a muffler mod and put a 12inch Stihl 3/8lp bar on it with 3/8lp043 full chisel China chain and it’s a weapon
@PresidentDinkelbottom Thanks, I did eventually get one and love it, I modded the muffler and added a 1/4 pitch to it. I also bought a 201tc for the bigger removals, have a Blessed day.
I just picked up one of these saws put about 4 tanks through it before i took it up in the tree with me i must say i don't know what the worry is about stihl's m tronic i don't have one complaint. I took down a 70 foot black walnut tree in just under 40 mins on one tank of fuel and it never missed a beat
I agree on MTronic. I have an MTronic ground saw and its awesome. Never skips a beat. Had it 3 years now I believe. Might be picking up a 201. Trying to decide between that and the 194. 194 has a lot of cons when it comes to build quality.
There was a lot of ground targets and strange plumbing fixtures all over the yard. Didn't want to strip out any of the neighboring trees, and there was lot's of remote TIP options around. I had a breakaway rigged into my lanyard as well. Cheers.
Is it harmful to allow a new saw to idle that much while climbing the tree? I've been told you should make as many wide open throttle cuts as possible to seat the rings properly.
True, the 540 is heavier on a scale, but it's some kind of more ergonomic. But anyway..I prefer the 201T-CM...you pull once and it runs...in every situation...cant say that about the 540..
Very much so! It's very compact, maneuverable, it revs out nicely and pulls hard. I'll be missing the rigid clip on the T540, but I imagine we can come up with something for that. . . Thank you, and cheers!

Just use the thing.
@@samdesmet7637 thats right
It's the random up and down speeds that seat the rings best.
What happened to the 540 Sam? I bought one but not impressed so far.
Nothing, It's on the shelf while the 201 gets run in a bit. The 201 definitely has more kick, but the 540 fit my hands a little better. . .

Good work keeping it nice and safe...you like the saw then.?
