"Hot mess express" 😂That summed it up nicely. I would never have thought it could look that good. I thought it was laminate and particle board at first because it looked really cheap.

It's stunning and I didn't know you could do all that to veneer. I had little paint bits in the grain too and went ahead and painted over it. Had I know you could apply oxalic acid and scrub with a brush I'd have done it. Ah well, I know now for next time. Thank you so much.
Thank you Emer! The oxalic acid was to remove the black marks but the acetone is what I used to get the paint out of the grain. Any kind of paint thinner will do the same trick!
Dashner used a wood fill over then sanded. The fill covered the paint that he couldn't get out of the deeper grain.
