As a millennial pushing middle age and has to work 10 hrs a day to maintain basic food and shelter requirements, I can only afford to buy 4-5 new games a year. Of all the games out there Assassins Creed is one of the only series from my Childhood that is still making games that provide both nostalgia and an enjoyable escape from reality while engaging my love of history.
I swear Ubisoft has made like 16 of these games and they have ALAWAYS just dropped a cinematic trailer before any gameplay shows. They’ve literally done the same thing for 16 or some games and people still can’t take a hint.
They were just starting to figure out ways to let us choose how to go about assassinating targets in Assassins Creed Unity. We'd get to the location and we had a couple options how we wanted to complete our mission. It was still pretty limiting, but it was a start. Then they changed the series and all of that went away. It looks like they may have gone back to working on giving us options. I just hope it's greatly expanded compared to what we got in Unity. Doing it more like Hitman where there was dozens of ways to kill your target. It was cool to see videos of how other people went about it.
I'm a gamer so i will be getting both Ghosts and AC Shadows. Best of both worlds. I really appreciate you both speaking about it as a game rather than "Oh Yasuke is a playable character in the game and he's a black Samurai boooo". The hate is ridiculous. Judge it by the game itself and not media bs. Much respect to you both.
30 million people playing old Assassins Creed games? You mean those one and done games? But I thought a game had to be live service to retain a player base a month after launch?!! How about instead of live service bullshit, you just release DLC expansions for old games. Look at how much that crap half assed basic update Fallout 4 got increased the player count. These companies could be making a lot of money off of their old single player games if they'd release $20-$40 expansions for years after launch. One a year for 5, 6, 7 years would keep the money rolling in while new games are in development.

Why are Ubisoft excused in making micro transactions when other studios don't have to rely on that? Fromsoft continue improving their formula and aren't hemorrhaging money and rely on whales through micro transactions to stay afloat, nor are Sony Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Obsidian or even Bethesda. I don't care about the micro transactions, but it's lame that Ubisoft doesn't need to deliver the same quality as other studios because they get to rely on a backbone of micro transactions

Kinda. Not as in depth as what is being said for Shadow's. 3 had summer and winter. Only real difference it did other than looks and being able to see as the player is walk slower in the snow. Thats about it. It didnt reqlly affect NPC's much other than walking slower as well. They still saw better than you did in a blizzard.
As long as it's skins and not ingame items, I don't care. I find the ingame items you get because they are just broken, and they completely remove the point of finding new weapons. It destroys one of the parts of the game feedback loop, finding better weapons.

I can see myself playing 100 of hours of this just cause of the different playstyles. I can play one playthrough as Naoe full stealth, another as Yasuke open combat or alternate between them, tackle missions in different seasons to explore different paths, can also do a pacifist run cause you can knockout enemies now there's so much new stuff its pretty cool IF they deliver on all these of course.

Cinematic trailers are meant to give you an ideea about the game, the protagonists, a part of the story. This is something you dont get from the gameplay trailer.
i'm not even sure that was Japanese "rock" either the morons who made this inserted Chinese architecture in the background.... remember when Ubi cared enough that when Notre Dam burned down they are using Ubi version to help recreate it.
The price for the different editions is insane. $109 for Gold edition to get 3 day early access and $129 for the Ultimate edition to get a few skins. Looks like I'm signing back up for Ubisoft +: next year.
But I am not purchasing the videos, also not having an offline mode means that in 10 years they could just shut down the servers and take away the game from us . If it was offline they won't be able to do that @@Vaas-v1x

the alternating seasons thing isn't all that new, it was in ac3 with how you'd manouevre in the woods in winter and summer
