Great video as it actually pushed me to delte all that extra rubbish I just dont use. It was sort of like being a hoarder, 'Oh I may use that one day' and when you realise that you dont do the discovery flights, bush flights or have used the training sessions it was great just to get rid of it all. I also got rid of a heap more aircraft and delted all those generic liveries for each one that I never use. I saved up about 28gb today, fantastic. Cheers Jonathan, love your work.
Thanks for this video, I forgot to check how much space I saved but after performing the culling operation my loading time reduced from 3mins and 45 seconds to 2mins and 5 seconds. Very helpful👍
Honestly, I got a little VerKlempt watching this video... Talk amongst yourselves while I go and claim back my SSD. First useful Vid of my week. Good Job.😄
While this method can significantly reduce the amount of disk space taken, the scanning time of the official and community folders during loads are not always significantly impacted in direct correlation with what has been removed. The way the index is set up in the game still checks to see what’s installed, and while it is true that smaller folder sizes does mean a slightly faster scan, it still takes significant time to load in all the textures and wireframes of the aircrafts and surroundings. Sim update 15, which is available in beta now, changes the way that this indexing and recall works, and, in conjunction with reducing your file size, will help reduce loading times in a much more noticeable way than solely removing bloat.
I really hope same update 15 bring some positive improvements to performance I haven't tested the beta because every time I do it always reinstalls the entire sim once it gets released
I don't care about drive space because I have a 2TB SSD in a computer dedicated to MSFS -- i.e., no programs installed that are not related to Flight Simulator. I'd bet that there are a lot of "FS'ers" with similar setups, *BUT* I DO care about loading times that are getting to be a real bummer now, 3.5 years into the modern era. These techniques will help significantly! Thanks.
Very useful. Thank you. I suspect many of us desktop pilots have hangars the size of continents !!. Yes its always good to trim down your content. My sim used to take about 3 mins to load , step forward from 2020 to 2024 now its more like 8-10 mins. Time to get deleting.

Very helpful thanks. Also further to this, I recommend people delete the Xbox aviators club paint jobs. They add up to a lot and it's so good not having them in the list (I probably downloaded them deliberately in the past because they were free haha)
One small issue I see for multiplayers and that is if you remove an aircraft and somebody flys that aircraft in multiplayer you will not see it as the correct aircraft. This is the only reason I can see to NOT delete unused aircraft.
I also use fsltl so I have all of those liveries in my community folder but yes if you want to see an aircraft show up in the sim I guess for GA make sure you don't delete it I'm not sure what GA aircraft are in the FSL TL file.
Very interesting indeed. I thought of doing it, specially with the planes but then I fear that the integrity of the game could be affected and also during updates but it seems there is no risk. Thanks
There's only a risk if you delete things that I didn't really go over like core files you don't want to delete any core files and you also want to be careful if you have third-party scenery or third-party aircraft as some of the third party developers require the default scenery or aircraft for their modification to work. for instance the black square products the Bonanza the baron and there's more but they require the default aircraft in the SIM. but like I said that shouldn't break anything because you can always reinstall it if you need to it's always there in the cloud

Very easy to redownload it from the content manager no need to restart or anything . That is one of the things that I didn't delete was that quad copter thing. Because some third party aircraft developers use the coding in that aircraft for theirs.

Don't delete any core files . And some devs use default aircraft for theirs like the black square bonanza. But I can't see any issue with removing challenges or discovery flights or bush trips.
Thanks for the comment . I wouldn't delete any aircraft that you want to see in the SIM. Unless you're using an application like FS LTL or AI G because they use their own aircraft. In that case you can delete the default aircraft and you should still see the ai . Also I think if you have the aircraft file from FS LTL or AI G in your community folder then it will probably pull from that for multiplayer as well. And the beauty of it is. If you want to add those aircraft back, just click not installed on the left and then look for the aircraft and reinstall it. It's still there just not on your p. C.

There's so much bloat in MSFS, those hideous Aviators Club liveries take up a huge amount of drive space as most of the Asobo and Carenado aircraft seem to have them even the F/A-18 and the vintage planes. I've purged my MSFS install of all of them. Same goes for the World Updates, If it's for somewhere I don't regularly fly to I won't bother installing it.
Just be careful about deleting some of the aircraft as some of the third party. Developers like black square and others use the default aircraft for their base coding

ok first i have no idea what you are talking about and second following your logic everything you learn as an adult, any new skill , idea or general knowledge that means you (yourself ) before you talk to anyone or give advise im sure you give a dialog of everyone who has influenced you over the years to come up with the info you provide? Before you show someone how to drive , go shopping, use a check book, use math, speak english anything im sure you explain first who and where you gained your knowledge so that you can speak about that topic?.... Im sure you don't, you simply pass on the advise and knowledge that you have learned over the years hoping that it will help someone that needs it.

That can be an issue if you make it a habit.
not a good idea remove essential parts of the simulator. developers working in shared libraries from aircrafts and other stuff.
to open fast do not install gsx, fsltl, ivao_mtls, tons of liveries, and all stuff that asobo launchs.
you can save time using msfs addon linker.
Thanks for the comment
I use FSTL for traffic and as VMR rule for Vatsim. If I delete the msfs aircrafts (I just use the fenix), will FSTL or Vatsim traffic still appear ??
Yes if you have fsltl traffic installed and all liveries are installed in your community folder then yes you will see all of those livery show up in the SIM On the proper aircraft.
@@2020fsers thanks
Are deleting the POI’s going to prevent me from seeing anything
Yes it will delete that poi in the sim like the actual building so don't delete them if you want to see them . I don't delete mine .
@@2020fsers thank you.
I can see by the comments that everyone appreciates the content of these tutorials - thumbs up smashed everyone. Do yourself a favor and subscribe!
Thank you 😊
Can't seem to delete the Pitts S1 (DELETE does not show up when selected in CONTENT MANAGER), but the Pitts Special S2 can be deleted...what the heck. Is it a Standard Package problem?
Possibly you can't delete that 1
Great tips and advices! However I am still getting this imbecile Dune Expension pack on screen at start up... How can I delete that?
That's just a ms startup screen can't do anything about that.
@@2020fsers Thanks for coming back on that. Appreciate your vids as most of the times they help me a lot...
@dannystotijn6842 your welcome . Glad the vids help and thanks for the comment
i did it, but the only problem is that mfs2020 keep reinstall it all over everytime i start the game how do i stop this?
that's really strange I haven't had that issue and I haven't had anybody else say that either I'm not sure there's anything there that you can set for auto updates.
POI is totally misnamed in autistic microsoft fashion. they arent points of interest.. they are literally the custom scenery buildings and related objects of each world update. keep em unless you never fly to a particular region (like australia, who bothers going there rite mate oi)
Dude if you’re going to copy other content creators videos, at least credit them. Or better yet, be original.
ok first i have no idea what you are talking about and second following your logic everything you learn as an adult, any new skill , idea or general knowledge that means you (yourself ) before you talk to anyone or give advise im sure you give a dialog of everyone who has influenced you over the years to come up with the info you provide? Before you show someone how to drive , go shopping, use a check book, use math, speak english anything im sure you explain first who and where you gained your knowledge so that you can speak about that topic?.... Im sure you don't, you simply pass on the advise and knowledge that you have learned over the years hoping that it will help someone that needs it.
@@2020fsers I agree but when it’s a blatant copy of another’s work with nothing substantive added that’s different, all I’m pointing out is the right thing to do is to credit them or admit it - which the second part of your response implicitly implies you knew what you were doing.
@@gibboirelandso, just to ensure we're all on the same page: from which video did he plagiarise? I would like to compare both videos in order to come to a conclusion.
Edit: after watching this one: this is a basic tutorial of the msfs gui. No alchemy or voodoo here. If he did he should credit Microsoft/Asobo.
I dont copy anyones work everything i do is genuine to me and my style .i havent seen anyone make turorials like i do or edit like i do. but it sounds like to me you are confusing knowledge with copying work(your claim) which i do not do Ever. So again in that logic you (yourself)are copying everyone or anything whom you have learned from your entire life.
i would love to see a word for word video with the same editing because he is stating i copied someones work not only knowledge on a topic
