I only started listening to SHIKI's music a few days ago, but both Pure Ruby and Lapis have been getting looped a lot during that time, and thanks to using UA-cam Music, this video showed up on my UA-cam home. It's a shame to have lost a great artist, his music really is great, but I am glad I was able to find his works, and I hope more people can too
oh my god... his life was so tragic, I had no idea about his childhood. Oh my god... I remember when he released his last song, I thought that was his triumphant comeback to the BMS scene ;; I was shocked when I read the news (finally confirmed) SHIKI's found peace, he was is and forever will be one of BMS' pillars. may his soul rest in peace
Thanks a lot for this video. This was very informative for me especially as someone who has loved his music since middle school. Knowing his backstory finally made sense to me as I always sensed that something wasn't right with him. As do you, I too wish he is at a better place now.
I love Trance and Artcore, even though I'm getting into it a decade after it stopped being popular. I found SHIKI's work a month ago, only to learn he had passed. Rest in Peace, SHIKI. Your music is still finding it's way into people's hearts.
This is a fantastic video about SHIKI and he is definitely one of my favorite BMS composers, if not my favorite. It is hard to pick one favorite track from him. But I think my three most played tracks by him in BMS are definitely: Lapis, Sepia, and Angelic Layer. SHIKI's impact on music games is legendary and he'll forever be known as a legend. RIP SHIKI, may he rest well now.
If you enjoyed Shiki's music enough to find this video, then you are a legend. I don't usually find people who enjoy the same kind of music as me, but I can see there are many who can appreciate the same as me that I don't know. Rest easy, your music warms my soul and puts me into flow state with the best of them
I only came across Shiki's work from the recommendation of a different artist after he passed away, and I haven't dug into all his work even still, but so many songs are absolutely transcendent. A feeling all at once of fighting against an impossible onslaught, and experiencing the perfect flow state. The kind of songs that make me grateful humanity has been blessed to have music.
Finally have time to watch this. R.I.P SHIKI. I'm not a huge fan of him, in fact I only know him because his song Lapis appear in Arcaea. It's still pretty sad to see someone so talented passed away. Thank you for this video that make me know more about this awesome composer. Btw, I notice that between 17:27 and 20:39 the subtitles are gone, maybe you should check about it.
IIRC, SHIKI had used the alias "S" in his very early days (probably in 2002)... I was so surprised to learn that he looked up to -45 and had worked with the legendary Vocaloid artist amyu/fatp/D.S.L... Good night, SHIKI. May you rest in peace.
aaaa I am not familiar with SHIKI very much, not even with his music... but I do know that he was the most influential artist _ever_ in the rhythm gaming world, so when I saw void's tweet it still really hit me. I remember just last year, he participated in BoFXVI, but it feels so unreal now?? Thank you for making this video so plebs like me can know more background about SHIKI. RIP, you will be remembered.
Thank you for your hard work and amazing videos. Finally I can learn more about my favorite artists. Previously, I ran into a language barrier and lack of knowledge of resources with information about these musicians. Low bow.
Triangle Girl’s Heart captivated me back in 2011, and still does even on 2022. To think I only discovered of his passing JUST NOW because of a joke tweet… I can’t believe it.
I once found one of Shiki's songs in a game called "SG:R" or "Star Glitcher ~ Revitalized", I would listen to their music everyday, so as going to school. But the time I found out they are dead, I was sad so, I mourn the lost of my fav song artist by listening to their music. Their song, "Rose Quartz" is in the game, it brings me memories of the game before they 6 month shut down. Yet, I still felt the presence of Shiki near me. Note: My fav songs from them is the full album Cristierra, its a good album and must recommend and ngl, AIR hits harder than the real AIR we breathe now
genuinely one of my favorite artists of all time. I remember listening to alot of his songs like Xecus, Sepia, Jade Star, METATRON, etc and it got me through alot of stuff. Rest in peace SHIKI, your music will be remembered
I have not heard much of SHIKI's works but I did really like Rose quartz also just going to say Rest in Peace SHIKI you will be remembered thank you for your music.
Shiki's music makes me feel really happy and nostalgic, i still listen to his masterpieces from time to time while i'm traveling or taking a break from studies. Thank you for everything you've done up until now. We will miss you.
Man, I wish I know about him before this video, because I actually like his music (or at least, the snippets that I heard here). Rest in peace, SHIKI. By the way, do you know where I can get high-quality versions of his music?
You can find high quality versions of his BMS on his Soundcloud (in the desc), and you can find all the songs from the Cristierra album on Spotify (which have the majority of his works anyways). Otherwise you'll have to search around UA-cam/NicoNico.Thanks for watching man :)
never heard of this artist, but his music is fucking great, very sad he passed away. ill probably map one of his songs for beat saber. may he rest in peace 🙏
Great vid as always, I'm shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Thank you so much for discovering the humanity behind the music we've loved for years, and thanks especially for being brave enough to cover a history so tragic. I think I'm gonna play air in stepmania in memorium, and appreciate the bittersweet nostalgia of it all
Firstly, thank you so much, RinnyThe16th, for creating this video. This was recommended amongst me listening to some of his music today, and I am glad to see a video such as this, memorializing his work and lifting up his legacy. I first encountered SHIKI's music through StepMania (SM) back in 2005 or so. AIR was my first song I had ever heard, and MY GOD-the feelings of euphoria and intrigue upon my first listen outside of the game were so intense, I still get hype when I hear the song to this day. I was HOOKED, and he instantly became one of my favourite artists within the genre. I ended up coming across more of his music through the keyboard packs I used to play in SM, namely Cold Breath and Sepia. Around the same time as I found those songs, I was made aware of Lunatic Rave (2, at the time), and SHIKI's music website. As someone with little to no access to IIDX, learning about the both of these things at the same time was a HUGE point of joy, and opened a whole new realm for me to explore. In finding tunes to play within his website, I came across A BEAUTIFUL WINGS. Your description of that song within this video pretty much perfectly sums up my sentiments with this song, and it still sits among my favourite songs of his (in the company of AIR, Rose Quartz, and Angelic Layer). I hadn't played LR2 in ages, and was playing SM significantly less by the time 2020 rolled around, but I still quite often found myself listening to his music, and started to keep up with his releases again, since they were placed on Apple Music. I was glad to be keeping up with his recent works again. Thus, hearing the news of his passing truly gutted me. It was an enormous loss for the Rhythm Game community, still felt today. I legit cried both upon hearing his passing AND after playing Angelic Tears in DJMAX with their heartwarming message for him. I am so grateful for his heart, mind, and his willingness to share his beautiful works of art with the world. SHIKI will never be forgotten, and his memory shall echo eternally through the soundscapes he's left behind. May he continue to rest, peacefully.💙
A mutual of mind shared your video. Time flies by. I never herd of Shiki until the news dropped, but I remember downloading a StepMania pack called Mintmania and it introduced me to Touhou culture and, Air by Shiki. My favorite to play. It’s really sad, but the memories and history are not forgotten.
... SHIKI's trance music is excellent. Cold Breath sounds so nostalgic for me. it seems to me i listened this melody many years ago though i heard about SHIKI only in 2021. and thank YOU for video!
Its almost another death anniversary for Shiki and i wish to have a history of rhythm game artists for him since he has appeared multiple times in SDVX and osu. Aswell as Beatmania iidx copula
As a rhythm game enthusiast, I came across some of SHIKI's earlier works years back when I was still playing Stepmania and quite thoroughly enjoyed them without really knowing it was SHIKI's all along until I grew up learning and understanding English and found Osu / Etterna and got addicted to the one song Rose Quartz. After watching this video, I believe I have learned to appreciate his music a lot more on a sentimental level. Thank you very much for your tribute, and may SHIKI's legacy lives on forever.

Ya as mentioned before Lapis made into the World Extend pack in Arcaea but SDVX and Chunithm also got a couple Shiki crossovers like Jupiter and Air
