    Not bad. I’m quite the avid fan. I could do with less from the cab interior, but maybe that’s just me. Also, your playbacks are definitely running at different speeds. I actually timed the intervals between utility poles, etc. and the hand-held was running one-third slower than the windscreen-mounted camera. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  3 роки тому

      Hi, it's to know you enjoy this kind of video, with maybe a little less cab footage. You're observation about the playback speed is an interesting one, this was filmed with a Sony and a GoPro sports camera along with shots from a hand held Sony camcorder. It was all edited in real time, I wonder where the speed difference crept in?

    • @franklinbrooks9506
      @franklinbrooks9506 3 роки тому

      @@Timsvideochannel1 At first, I thought it might be subjective because the handheld footage delivers more ambient noise and irregular train movement. But, nerd that I am, I actually replayed duplicate intervals, noting the video time signature. Nope, it’s real. The product of the windscreen camera plays the identical track intervals faster. No worries. I’ll eventually watch every minute you have up.

      @@franklinbrooks9506 To be honest on the day I was running out of cameras and media. Usually I am allowed to film for a few hours from the cab, I had already filmed one run, when the crew invited me onto the next locomotive to carry on filming, it was a long and very rewarding day. You're camera observations are interesting, I'll take a closer look myself when time permits.

      Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. The distant mountains remain on the horizon for much of the trip, offering the prospect of more serious railway engineering and dramatic scenery.

      Hi Tim, if you ever get a chance to go back there again, check out the railway from Zvolen to Banská Bystrica, from Bystrica to Martin. It's very close and the real engineering challenges just start from there. Amazing viaducts, very long tunnels including the longest one and scenic views all around. So different from flat south of Slovakia. Best regards Ron.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 років тому

      Hi Ron, I am working on the next video to Banská Bystrica and Brezno, although by now the camera batteries are low and I am running out of memory cards, forcing me to use a camera that is badly affected by the locomotive vibration. Some of the driver's view footage is OK and I have a few shots taken as a passenger. If all goes well I should have something to upload by the end of the weekend.

    Since this moment I have an idea how does it do at this line Šahy - Zvolen, because I have never seen before and only information I got from some railways journals or web sites. These "newspapers" state the line is abandoned, and in the video shown condition supports the fact. The sorriest part of things is there is one of Slovakia famous spa Dudince. There used to be in the summer season on fridays and sundays one pair of semi-fast trains, powered by motorcar class of 850 and trailers class of Bnp or Bmx, operated between Štúrovo and Zvolen via Šahy, made connection to fast trains on the main lines. Nice trip, I will be continue watching the second part.

      Hi, I'm glad you are enjoying these. I was using three cameras for this one, due to rain and difficult light I decided to combine the best results from all three cameras. The only bit missing is five minutes or so when rain completely wiped the picture out.

    Hi Tim! Very well, this cab ride view is beatiful too, and this landscape around, with sunflowers fields and rare villages, like Nortern Bulgarian landscapes :-) Alas, the rail infrastructure is poor... and it's too alike some regional railways near of Dunav, between Nortern and Central Bulgaria... :-( Especially thanks for shoots interiers of loco. It add a lot of realistic details for this railwey trip. And this small rain just don't broken it :-) Good luck!

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 років тому

      Hi Chuck, I'm glad you enjoyed it, riding in the cab was fun. The scenery reminded me of both Bulgaria and England. The track was in better condition than it looked although the vegetation was trying to reclaim the railway in places. The drivers were nice people, although we couldn't converse they often pointed things out. The rain didn't spoil the trip, it only lasted for about 10 minutes.

    • @chucksandos8939
      @chucksandos8939 6 років тому

      Hi Tim again! Of course, our railways, especially Northern Bulgarian RW, has the grass is on the RW because trafficis is not intensive... however this RW going through place with many villages. Alas, just auto transport in current century 'killed' railway... :-( Good luck!

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 років тому

      Hi Chuck, road transport robbed the Rhodope Mountain railway of all its freight traffic, I would love to slip back in time to see freight trains working along that line. Road transport taking the life blood from secondary railways is familiar tale in many parts of the world. On a brighter note although the middle part of this railway is not heavily used, both ends of the line were used for local freight, especially for transporting logs.

    • @chucksandos8939
      @chucksandos8939 6 років тому

      Of course, railways freight traffic and passenger traffic it's very different cases, is not it? But this difference conditions can be turned on profit for railweys. But this does if uses only reasonable means. However, it may possible only if researchers don't have 'monistic' brains alike have this any 'accountants'... ;-) /And if talking without uses 'politically correct' definition only, its 'monistic' view to deals have any of the 'effective managers' brains, -- is not it?. He-he-he.../

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 років тому +1

      Oh dear, politically correct accountants are the enemy of common sense, railways should be regarded like the veins in a body, they carry the life blood of the nation, some can be removed and the body will continue to function, remove too many and the body starts to preform badly. Road is ideal for short haul smaller consignments, rail is better for long haul large consignments. Road and rail are there for the long term, working together, not in competition. They should be financed with the intention of maintaining the health of a nation and that requires a long term strategy for all transport, it doesn't matter if it runs at a loss, if the health of the nation is good. Accountants only see one year ahead, good transport is required for eternity, a bad decision today will compromise a nations ability to preform in the long term, raw materials and finished goods need good transport to help companies preform in this increasingly competitive world. People also need to get to and from their place of work and roads alone cannot cope.

      There is a steam engine in my local park that sounds just like a diesel, it even smells like one. Whilst I missed the sights and sounds of a steam engine, the diesel did its best to compete, plenty of noise and some smoke.
