100% Besides music, video games are my escape from reality, the one thing that lets me shut my mind off from the BS of the world and the politics. I've been gaming since the 90s, have been a lifelong fan for over 2 decades on many of the top game developers and I never thought this would happen to gaming. We lost Dan Houser from Rockstar, a major shame, but hopefully Sam Houser continues to not pander to the woke agenda. Thankfully RDR2 for instance, is relatively pure, at least in story mode. Hoping GTA VI isn't a dumpster fire. I imagine indie developers will further thrive, considering all the major letdowns from AAA developers over the last decade. Sadly, the wokeness isn't the only issue with gaming today.

I was a huge Battlfield fan since BF2 and stopped playing , refused to buy 2143 and CoD. It's so sad. Also, Don't ever forget about Gamer Gate!
Both Battlefield and CoD were just repeating the same old crap 2 or 3 versions before they went woke. It didn't really matter if that is what you like but there was no real progress beyond how pretty it looked and how many more bugs there were in new versions. I am not spending hundreds of Pounds every couple of years to upgrade my PC just to play something that looks pretty but crashes every ten minutes. They lost me well before they went woke.

Man, I've been playing Battlefield since 1942 came out, one of my favorite game franchises of all time. I had every one. I would scour the internet back in the early 2000s looking for the Secret Weapons Over WW2 demo on my shitty dial-up and play Battlefield Vietnam on my computer that could barely run it. I remember when my parents finally bought me a copy of 1942, one of the happiest days of my life. My letdown from Battlefield V was disgustingly incomprehensible. Been a lifelong EA fan for over 2 decades, I never thought I'd see this happen to gaming. It's a shame what they did to their legacy along with so many other AAA developers.
Also, it's a shame how utterly forgotten BF2 is. I honestly still play it. AIX mod is _THE_ SHIT
I am Grandma, conservative and I love to spend a good time with my family playing video games. Games can be a health tool to do things with family... just pay attention to quality of games and the time that you spend playing.

This is amazing! I stand with G&G, DDayCobra, RK Outpost and many more. These guys were just covering the gaming news and was falsely copyright striked multiple times by these game studios. Even a live stream of G&G just talking was struck down. Not only that, Last of Us was promoted as Joel as being the main character and they pulled the whole bait and switch. Whereas Battlefield wanted to change historical events and time periods. These companies don't care about the fans, only about their agenda and their pockets.
My personal grief with BFV was exactly that - they claimed historical accuracy as a trademark of theirs and then go ahead and invent some fictional parallel universe in which Katans and cybernetic limbs were readily available tofronline soldiers.
Let's just ignore tha Japanese being a third faction that happened to be closer to Germany than the allied forces, let's ignore real women fighting for Scandinavian armed forces or Russian air force - but let's still claim any fan who is not buying into the BS to be a problem... EA really effed that and Betafield 2042 was just the next worst thing they could come up with.
The Joel bait and switch ticked me off too. LOU2 is one of those games that I wished I'd waited a while to buy and read the reviews first. I didn't care for the story, so if I'd known what they pulled I wouldn't have bought it. I gritted my teeth and finished the game, but it has no replay value to me. It's in my top-10 list of regretted purchases.

When you lose customers and there's not enough revenue to sustain the company's expenses, it will eventually have to go out of business.

2015 - 2020 was when these games/movies really started to push identity politics points more than stories, and I am seeing some of it slowly going away due to these sales.

I highly recommend some research on the stuff around 'gamergate'. In a lot of ways, the culture war really started out in the public eye with that event, when gamers tried to call out a number of leftist grifters in the industry and their insidious practices. The media rallied around the leftists and began pushing the narrative that these folks calling out the scammers and propagandists were actually 'alt-right, sexist, phobic, gamer trolls'
The leftists got a lot of positive press attention (shocker) in the wake of the event, leading to more of these grifters taking over key positions in the gaming and gaming news industries, resulting in the woke invasion of virtually every major gaming publisher and developer.
Fast forward to today and we are watching these companies collapse in real time as they continue to berate their fans as bigots for criticizing their poorly written and heavily monetized garbage.
As a gamer, I can 100% say without a doubt that devs are killing their brands by kneeling to these "woke" goons.

We compare TLOU2 to let's say... 🤔 Tales of Berseria which had an amazing strong female lead, and an amazing story. You should easily be able to see the issues.

I was thinking about this earlier. DW is getting into the film industry. It would make sense to look at game development as well. If they can succeed with their films, maybe games will come next.
Good indie games and alphas have blown up time and time again, but I dont want a game with the lefts politics or the rights I want to escape reality not get slapped in the face with slimey politics everytime I hop on.
The other thing I hate in gaming right now that Microsoft "pioneered" is recording all voicechats and banning players for speech. No doubt they would turn over said chats to the government in seconds quite like our cell phone providers.

It comes down to the writing and the direction. If the sole purpose is to push a political message then most of the time the game performs poorly both financially and critically. Most video game enthusiasts don't mind playing as a woman or if there's political messages, it's when developers hammer it in to where good game design is no longer the focus. Tomb Raider, Hellblade and Horizon all come to mind that were successful.
In the current gaming landscape, I always remember Aya Brea from Parasite Eve. A beautiful, smart, humble, very feminine and vulnerable character, that grows out of her hardships and accomplishes great things, despite some moments of weakness due to the circumstances. In the sequel, she shows how she can be a proper action girl, while still acting feminine and displaying motherly instincts.
As a very interesting and nuanced character, she was very well-made and written. You take a look at most female characters these days and you just ask yourself: What went wrong? Why do they look like nerfed males? Why are they so ugly and obnoxious? Foreshadowing the times we live in, if I had to guess.

Yeah the Daily Wire has been killing it lately. I was pretty pissed at Ben around the 2020 election but we can't agree on everything. The dude and his company do great work.
I remember at the VG awards that year, they gave TLOU 2 the GOTY honor when I distinctly remember thinking that Ghost of Tsushima was an infinitely better game and experience and deserved that honor more.
Actually I think tlou 2 was better, but both games were excellent
No ghost got shafted cause it was "culturally insensitive" cause it was made by a bunch of western white guys. Even though software, a Japanese studio that makes almost exclusively western style fantasy rpgs, thought it was a love letter to their culture and publicly supported its success.

They are biased for sure. But the reason I like and respect them as an Atheist Independent myself, is the fact that they are open and honest about it. They are willing and welcome to debating people from different points of view to challenge them on their bias. They also acknowledge that the radical liberals have a stranglehold on the entertainment industry, which isn't fair at all no matter how morally superior they think they are.

As a gamer, I have been very disappointed with the amount of "woke" that is present in video games because AAA companies and creators want to cater to a group of people that literally have no interest in gaming at all. The gaming community actually does not mind having strong, female characters in our video games (In fact, we can love, adore, and at times idolize them), we just hate it when a character - protagonist or otherwise - was specifically made to fit this exact role, not made to be an actual character we can connect and relate to in some way. That's why people loved Ellie in the first TLOU game, her very existence was a special circumstance that could drive back the virus and she was in danger because of it, but she was also still a child and, ultimately, a person that experienced loss and success like the rest of us. But Abby? Hardly a character at all outside of "strong" and "female."
This really irks me for History games, as I also have a small interest in that subject as well. Gamers+Geeks spoke about this around 4:10 but allow me to add onto this further. But these companies are rewriting history to fit the "woke" narrative hoping to get more customers for their games. Yes, women have participated in warfare in conflicts past, so why not make women in war games that is historically accurate? Let me bring up the Battlefield games as an example, in Battlefield 1 (Which is themed after the Great War AKA World War I) the *In the Name of the Tsar* DLC introduced the Russians as a playable faction in multiplayer, and the player model for the Scout class is a woman in a hooded cloak-like outfit, this design is actually based off the Women's Battalion of Death that fought for Russia in last years it would participate in the war; the Great War YT channel actually went over this, and other details the game has, in a video linked here for those interested: ua-cam.com/video/sh6sTblFyPk/v-deo.html (The video linked is the French and Russian DLCs, the video for the base game can be found in the related videos). Battlefield V, however? Well, history was just bent in a way to get little girls and women interested in historical FPS games, a genre the majority of them have no interest in them (As stated in the video above). Did the British and the Germans deploy women on the frontlines? No. Did the Japanese and Americans send women out into battle in the Pacific? No, and especially not for the Japanese! I think what really irks me for Battlefield V is that many people, including some of the devs, defended this decision by stating, "The women you can play as in the British faction is supposed to represent the women that fought for the French Resistance." Okay, but then why not just make the French as a playable faction then?

I had a pre-order for tlou2 the second it went up. In fact, I still play the multi-player from the first one a couple times a month (every night for years). And I canceled that preorder when I heard what they did to Joel, and will never play it.

Battlefield 5 was a game I was highly disappointed on in the wokeness element, censorship of things, map design, and gameplay for plane & tank combat.

I love that the daily wire showcased these guys. So many conservatives dismiss games and if we really want to fight the culture war we cannot ignore games! Like they pointed out, gaming is bigger than almost every other entertainment industry, like it or not, it’s a part of the culture and its here to stay.
Games are important. Most guys that I know play at least a few times a week. Everyone of the kids that I know play everyday.

Discovered these guys first with their Star Wars TLJ videos. They actively brought everyone in the fanbase, who hates woke bullshit, together with that movie.

Everything these guys are saying is on point. Wokeness is starting to get pervasive in AAA gaming and new games get slammed for it by a majority of the community almost every time. People are sick and tired of them bending history and undermining what could be good stories for brownie points.

As someone who isn't particularly into video games, I understand this completely, as I AM into films and comics.
I'd advise everyone to look into a rant by Rageaholic on why tackling entertainment is even more important than tackling politics directly, and how the communists have known this for a very long time.

I agree with a lot of what’s said here but I flat out disagree wholeheartedly that the deceptive trailers were created to mask what the game was about out of lack of confidence anyone would buy it.
If Naughty Dog had cut together trailers that revealed what the story is truly about (a revenge path for Ellie) there would be absolutely no impact when we saw Joel’s death in-game. It wasn’t done out of lack of confidence, it was done to avoid a spoiler. We criticize movies frequently for revealing too much in their trailers but when TLOU2 keeps its biggest plot point a secret, you criticize it for misleading us? 🤨

The entire Last of Us Part 2s gender politics made no sense.
There is a character called Mel. She’s in a group called the wolves who’ve made their base out of a football stadium and they are pretty decked out with gear and equipment. They are a group that’s thriving relatively speaking. Mel, is a female surgeon/doctor who is heavily pregnant. She decides she’s ok to go into the frontline.
Also doesn’t tell woman pointing a gun at her she’s pregnant.
TLOU2 is FUBAR in any case, but if you get attacked, you defend yourself. Whether the opponent is pregnant or not. Also; Ellie's killed hundreds up until this point but breaks down after one more kill? What morals is the game trying to teach us?
Idk the whole game is full of nonsensical things they came up with for the plot. Another great example is when Ellie finds Abby and rescues her at the end of the game

Last of us 1 and 2 are definitely worth playing through entirely as there good games. Second one isn’t perfect but didn’t deserve the ridiculous hatred it received.

I saw Star Wars in the theater back in '77. I think it was the second movie I'd ever gone to see. I was a member of the official fan club for years and counted myself a bone fide Star Wars nut, well into adulthood. Today, when I hear "Star Wars", I look around hoping to see a trainwreck about to happen. If it fails to appear, I go back to what I'm doing because I just no longer care. Star Wars is only entertaining now in the innovative ways it finds to destroy itself.

I’ve been following Geeks and Gamers and Jeremy since early 2018. I’m brown, Im not white nor am I a republican. I was accepted from them since the start. "Do what's right for history" they say while doing what's wrong for history. Creating stories about events that never happened and getting everything wrong is just one way to lose money.
They just want to rewrite history and teach that to kids instead.
I don't know that is a weird way to view entertainment media, should we not dramatize any real world event? I mean for sure there are limits to the dramatization, like pretending it was a large amount of women that fought in WW2. There were women who fought in WW2 in a variety of combat roles though, so representing a few of them shouldn't be seen as being "woke" if historical accuracy is your goal. I agree there is an issue when you start inserting woke agenda into media all the time where it has no place especially since more often than not it degrades it's quality.
