  • Richard Reed Parry, best known as a core member or Arcade Fire, joins Jian to discuss his first classical album, "Music for Heart and Breath", and why he literally incorporates the musicians' breathing patterns and heartbeats into his compositions. The multi-instrumentalist and composer also reflects on the blossoming relationship between classical music and indie rock and his collaborations with the Kronos Quartet, composer Nico Muhly and fellow rockers Bryce and Aaron Dessner of The National.

Fantastic interview. I listened to a short amount in the car earlier and carried the music with me for the rest of the day. Once home I immediately purchased the album on iTunes and checked Q's UA-cam channel for the full interview. Listening to Richard Reed Parry's music feels like a sort of...creative ignition?... and I am so very glad to have been exposed to it through Q. Thank you!
