She's singing "Maya Maya" for her daughter who was 3 years old during this performance. Minnie died at 31 in 1979 of cancer when her daughter was only six. Another great gone too soon. Those high notes are stunning and she reaches them with ease and they include vibrato for good measure. BTW the flowers do suit her better than you but good for a chuckle. Thanks for the reaction. I try to request music by people who were really outstanding or who in some way left a lasting legacy as opposed to just a few songs and gone tomorrow.

I think this was my very first time hearing anything from her before, but I thought this was a beautiful song. It surprised me the first time she hit that super high pitch note (whatever it's called) too! That was insane! I had no idea what “Maya Maya” meant in that one part of the song, but, now that I know from reading some of the comments here, I think it's so sweet that she mentioned her daughter in that performance!

Chad, if you like oldies and the Wolfman, you need to watch "American Grafitti". Many of the actors had their first roles in it and went on to bigger and better things (Richard Dreyfuss, Harrison Ford, Ron Howard, Cindy Williams, Mackenzie Philips, Suzanne Somers) A great movie with terrific music and laughs about life in the 60's.
