- Duncan Michael, Chairman of the Board from 1995-2000, reflects back on his childhood and decision to leave academia for a career as a structural engineer at Arup. He talks about the office culture and the freedom he was given while working on projects. He then discusses his years as Chairman, and the reforms that he brought about.
Hopefully someone is still reading this, I was at Leeds with his son, Don who was very tall (I’m 6”2 so at the time that was a bit of an usual experience) and a great sparring partner, sax and bassoon player - stayed at their home in Teddington sadly my bank manager said no, left Leeds and we lost touch, would love to know what happened next - Duncan was more or less absent when I visited but his wife was so gracious to a northern oik😊
The humourous honesty is admirable 😊
ਅਤਵਾਦੀ thank you that’s my grandmas brother i can’t prove it
For a short time in the last years of the 60's I worked for Ove Arup and partners. I too was interviewed by Frank Coffin but my career dwindled into obscurity unlike Duncan Micheal's.
