AER sounds like a guitar amp. Acus sounds like a beautifully tuned system. I almost bought the AER simply because Tommy uses one. Then I heard the ACUS video demos like this one and I went for the ACUS, NO regrets. Then I saw Tommy live in Jan 2018, and the AER is on stage next to him facing to the BACK, simply as a rear fill. All of Tommy's live sound now is PA and monitors, driven by the AER Colorizer. I talked with his sound guy Steve Law before and after the show... all EQ, compression and reverb is done at the board. Actually, recent interviews with Tommy reveal that. The AER is now just a token, true higher fidelity is what's sought after which TE only gets from going direct to the PA through the Colourizer, with a feed sent to the AER (which he doesn't even need). BTW, I sat front row, 20 feet from him and got to observe his live rig for two hours, best education I've had in my quest for excellent live sound (and an amazing show as a bonus, lol!). The ACUS does the job for brilliant studio sound, even for my so-so somewhat metallic sounding Taylor Expression 2 system in my 618eV2. I now use the ACUS 8T as my stage monitor, and run my Taylor through a T-Rex Soulmate Acoustic with the stereo DI's going directly to the board (and then I feed a mono 1/4" signal to the ACUS), and that has been a dream setup. Took me three years and a lot of buying and selling practically every acoustic pedal made from Boss to LR Baggs to Fishman, and they all fell short. T-Rex, ACUS 8T are the dream team for my maple Taylor 618e. The guitarist in the video is using a 612, so this is a very accurate demo compared to what I tested.
I’ve been looking all over the internet for someone explaining how Tommy gets his sound out. Thank you, very informative. I bought a Fishman loudbox a couple of years ago but I’m regretting not investing in the AER. I think it’s time
I really enjoyed your comparison of the AER and ACUS. Lovely playing too.
For me the ACUS wins, has a nice warmth to it.
+Autumn Light & Shade, agree. Acus sounds more organic and natural in this case.
The ACUS sounds much better in this demo, sure, but the sound obtained depends on the settings. On the AER with all its settings flat the mids are MUCH higher than on the ACUS. That gives no basis for a comparison. I think the AER would sound much more like the ACUS with a few seconds' adjustment. To compare two amps you need to aim for the same sound and see which one comes closest, then repeat while aiming for different sounds.
+eekamoose
Hi guys.
I had the acus One 6 . And although when I first got it it has a nice quality sound and nice bass end. I also have a AER Compact 60/3 . To me the AER Compact 60 wins hands down. Your right eekamouse, it depends how you set the AER eq's.
I busk regularly in town centres and to me the AER has a way of filling out and projecting the sound more.. I love the AER 'colour setting plus on vocsls the AER is much better and the reverb on setting number 2 is fantastic.
At first when I got the Acus I was excited as the sound is very good for the small size but the 10 kilo's is quite a weight for me as I'm approaching my mid 50's lol.
+CoventGardenSinger maybe that's due to the aer 60/3 having a 8" speaker rather than the acus' 6". It should probably be compared to the acus with the 8".
Not quite the same amps - as one has a 6" with tweeter and one has an 8" twin cone speaker - changes the bass/HF capabilities and overall sound. I expect ACUS deliberately chose the woofer/tweeter route to differentiate from the twine cone AER. I think the AER sounds warmer as a result - but I suspect the ACUS is more accurate.
Not really. Acus has bigger boxes and it's obviously affects low/low-mid area in my opinion. In terms of physics it's more favorable conditions to get right lows (which we feel and called as "warmer", "deeper", "softer"). AER sounds a bit brighter, but it's possibly result of bass lacking too.
indeed, a guitarist will sit down with an amp and tweek it til he likes it. Basically that could be a good approach to a comparison: to see the best each has to offer with the personalized tweeking, rather than setting both on neutral.
To some extent it depends on how you set up the EQ - you would have to get pretty technical with frequency graphs to actually see what's going on. These two amps also have some common thread involving who worked for who, who made what components for who, and who designed what. These are more like two amps from different family members - both are very high quality and played by some of the best in the business.
Acus forever..!!
Acus in much better, i've been using it for years, best choice
Depends on what you play. If you play GypsyJAzz the ACUS will give a very harsh and unnatural sound. Tweaking the EQs didnt help though. The AER is more suitable for this very specific style. i would even prefer it for Jazz with an Archtop. Acus is for Singersongwriter Music probably better.
Acus !
Neither catch the warm bloosum of natural wood. So it would not do justice to play an expensive Olson thru these. Maybe the piezoelectric is also a less than perfect technology. Just saying.
compared both amps in a store
no competition acus wins big time much warmer and acoustic sound. the only thing better with ghe aer is the volume
yeah i have an Acus one 6 and i perform with a friend who has one of those fisherman loud box mini and damn his volume is so loud...i usually can't compete with how loud his is but when it comes to quality of sound i like the Acus better
very nice playing
What about this singing channel they all have ? Nobody shows that !!!
Hey. We made a video which shows guitar tone and vocal together through the One 6T ua-cam.com/video/ZxUitp0l-ek/v-deo.html
How much
AER передаёт больше Гитары....

🇦🇺🇦🇺🙏🇦🇺🇦🇺👑
what pick up used on guitar?
+rustyblack1a ES2
@@Aarun3 It's an outstanding pickup.
Still resentment from Japan war vs Germany, so much that is making a powerfull unbeatable Aer amp sounds like shit next to the Austrian Acus.
the Acus is Italian
You can not do a comparison this way...you have no baseline to work from.
