You know there is one place better to go than any shrine around the world that is a nearby church where you can pray before the blessed Sacrament

I was blessed to go on tour with Father, Peter Velasco (the president of the Franciscan society in the holy land). We had mass at 5 o’clock in the morning in the tomb. I was Methodist at the time I came back home and joined the Catholic church. That’s how much it changed me.

The Koln Cathedral in Germany so amazing, also contains the relics of the Magi. I have been a Catholic all my life and as I got older, I began to study Catholicism and now a practicing Catholic. I have had many friends and family baptized Catholic, leave the church to go find something else. First off they didn't really know the teachings of the church. I believe if they had really known their faith they would have never left. But, eventually they all returned to the Catholic church.

I've walked the Camino. Truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life! So many divine interventions and powerful circumstances led to my decision to go. At times it was very difficult, but the feeling when I reached the cathedral was tearful and faith enforcing. My shell and compostela (certificate of completion) are precious.

I was fortunate to go to Santiago de Campostela in Spain; amazing Church where St James was buried.. also went to Holy Land last April and touched the Holy Sepulchre.. can’t described the feeling because it is so different from all the pilgrimages I went to-went to places where Jesus walked from Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee, Mt Tabor, Gethsemanee, the Via Dolorosa ending our day at the Holy Sepulchre where we had mass, I have also been/seen the Church made with bones .. In September, my friends and I will go to a pilgrimage in France- Lourdes, Notre Dame, Mont St Michel, etc

Thank you for interesting show. Very entertaining, interesting, teaching about our Catholic religion. I've been longing to go out to the Holy land. I just learned from someone in my church about the journey coming up in May 2024. I am a retired USA citizen & will try to get more information from my church group attending this journey next year. I would love to visit, find a way to join if it'd still available to start packing like Father Richard. I hope to meet anyone of you God willing. I would invite my 43 yr old Son to join for conversion. He's been a practicing Catholic in need for suffering to get closer to Jesus's footstep. We both need this journey as we are suffering & impoverished. Prayers may this pilgrimage happen for us. I'd appreciate your assistance & information as it seems Longshot to make it out there a I'm on retirement & disability limited income & my unmarried Son suffers from mental issues,he does odd jobs as shrimping for self-sustaining & expenses. 🙇 🙏 📿 ❤. AMEN.

If you're young enough and strong enough, I want to suggest that you volunteer in Lourdes. This will make your visit there more meaningful and fulfilling. I had the privilege of volunteering there four times, each time brought some really memorable experiences. When you visit as a pilgrim, you receive many graces, but when you go as a volunteer, you not only receive many graces, you also become a conduit for the graces that you will bring to those you serve. Our Lady needs you.

the Capuchins have a church on the Via Veneto that has a crypt made of bones. My Doctor Mom took me down there when I was 11. The worst part was that she was with a doctor friend and they were identifying the bones, like a game. I was seriously creeped out and Mom finally let me go back upstairs and wait for them but I had nightmares for months. I couldn't even look at a skeleton until recently and I'm 76.

It’s more important to wear good supportive shoes like Vionic or Asis (spelling?) and socks than to put Vaseline - you’d have to use it the night before or your feet will slip more and cause blisters

There is saying in Spain: "El que va a Santiago y no al Salvador, visita al criado y deja al Señor"... it means that when you go to Santiago and not to Oviedo where Christs reliques are, you visit the servant and not the Lord... Oviedo was where the Camino first originated...

The first apparition of the Virgin was to Santiago Apostol when he was feeling discouraged when teaching in Spain. She was still alive and she appeared on a column... "pilar" ...hence the name la Virgen del Pilar...

I am financially challenged also but when I travel, I travel by myself, I plan everything, and I save a lot of money that way. It is more fun, too. I enjoy getting lost because in finding my way, I come across so many surprises. Italy is perfect for serendipity. My favorites - Venice for its spectacular scenery and Assisi for its connection to my favorite saint, St. Francis of you-know-where. Italy is my most visited European country. Save up for a trip to Italy, you will not regret it.

@@56pjr These are lies that are regurgitated constantly but are lies that come from Satan himself. Study the history of Christianity and then answer these questions: Who canonized the Bible and when? Who put down the early heresies in the early Church? Who was St. Ignatius of Antioch? What is the Church that Jesus founded? Study its history please. If Catholicism is NOT Christians, then which is the true Church among the thousands all having different doctrines, teachings, all claiming to be led the the Holy Spirit? Yours? Haggiah Sofia was originally a Christian Cathedral but made into a mosque when the Muslims conquered Constantinople. Then it was converted into a museum by Mustafa Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. Unfortunately Erdogan converted it back to a mosque a few years ago.

IN the true Roman Rite Church that came down the line for almost 1968 years the Sunday Mass was always 1 hour. "Will you not wait one hour with me. " Preaching the Scripture is the key.

You took up the subject of churches and cemeteries. I notice in Ireland that many or most of the old Irish churches have cemeteries attached.

The Holy Sepulchre is a weird place, definitely. It's surreal and touristy and the monks fight...
If you come back to Jerusalem, two places that you might like (for prayer and meditation) are the tomb of the Virgin (at the foot of the Mount of Olives) and the Chapel of the Ascension (on top of the mount). I feel a sense of the holy in those two places, and I don't find Jerusalem to be particularly holy. (I live in Israel, but I'm Hindu.)
The Garden Tomb, while it is almost certainly NOT the place where Jesus was buried, is a nice, quiet, meditative spot.

CORRECTION 34:25 The Hagia Sophia was made a museum in 1934 by a secular Turkish government. But in 2020, it was again changed back to a mosque
despite much international protest. I understand the tiles depicting the Virgin Mary will remain unchanged, and tours will continue. But a sad turn
    of events for Christendom.
