As a native uropayan I can confirm, that allmost all of that was correct. If somebody wants to nuke us, that is, where he can find us. There was only one little mistake: The Eiffel tower is - of cause - in the german mountains "Eifel". Except for the second "f" in Eiffel tower, that was a gift from the french, like your statue of liberty.
The french have been a very sad nation ever since, because they do not have any statues left and they do not have their own "f" any more. Whenever they want to say "France", they have to borrow back the letter from the german government. That was the reason for them, to put the whole country into their capital. There is no "f" in Paris. So much about the french history - or should I say "the ranch history"?
There was another little inaccuracy. I would not call it "wrong", that would be rude. But, of cause, Europe is not directly located in America. Europe is, as everybody should be able to guess, the capital of Jupiters moon Europa. But we should not be picky: Jupiter and its moons are obviously part of north america. Where else should they be?

I'm not sure if I ever learned the flags of every country in Europe. I'm genX, in US, and the Berlin wall came down when I was in 5th grade. By the time I got to HS the USSR had fallen apart. Countries were being created and destroyed and created and destroyed on basically a monthly basis, or that's what it seemed like. It was hard enough trying to keep in mind what country had been created and which ones no longer existed. I think if I had a map of Europe I would do ok at identifying the Western European countries but it would be a guessing game with the Eastern European countries.

Yeah, and half of Europeans would be just as bad. Especially teenagers. I'm European and think many just bash Americans and are arrogant. Same with state flags in the US. How many Europeans would get them right? Or even where they're located in the US? So many would fail. And don't even start with Asia or Africa 😂

    • @darcichambers6184

@LETMino85 Because we are required to learn all 50 state flags over a whole year or sometimes two years, depending on the school system. I don't think we are required in K-12 to learn other countries' flags in world geography, where we get mabyee 2 months on each region of the world.

As a Canadian, I think we'd do a little better but not by much. We have closer ties to Britain and France plus there is more celebrating diversity versus melting it in a pot together so people are just exposed to more cross cultural learning. That being said, it does take a bit of initiative because it is not a significant part of the curriculum. Canadians know a lot about Americans because we grew up with the same access to media except there was some additional Canadian centric content that very few Americans got to see. Plus there are a lot more Canadians who have family living either full or part-time in the US than Americans have families doing the same in Canada.

I was surprised, many years later, to learn quite a lot (while helping my daughter with her homework) about Louis Riel and the fact that Canadian law still considers him a criminal.
