- Thank you for tuning again after an extended hiatus! This episode is somewhat of a "drawing room discussion" that happens often at my shop. I thought it would be fun to record it and make it into an episode after being radio silent for a while.
Lots of room for discussion on this one since we are mostly just spinning our wheels from one topic into another, so let me know what you think in the comments below!

Hello friend good morning 🌅🌅🌅🌅. greattng from MACAU CHINA
Thanks so much for great sharing i
Love it man, keep the opinions flying because that's a healthy conversation 👌
So glad yr back! Would you ever consider getting some handpoke tattooists on the show? Hearing an honest discussion about the negative stigmas that go along with hand poking would be really interesting. This being a wrap perpetuated mostly by tattooers that work exclusively with machine, disregarding that hand poking is an ancient practice forgotten with the invention of of machines in 1891. Would be amazing to see the legend Tati Compton on the show and hear in depth about their process.

Thanks for watching! That’s definitely a conversation I’m interested to have. I have some artists in mind for that, so hopefully I can line it up sooner than later
So sick! Keep up the good work!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Good to see you back 🙌
Thanks Larry!
Wooooo finally!
Oh gawd no.. I almost forgot about your face haunting my nightmares and now you’re back.
Glad you’re back Andrew
Naw forreal welcome back
🤘🤘 sup
Check out what Alex De Pase is doing in Italy. Pretty amazing, definitely breaking new ground.
Welcome back!! Good conversation. Appreciate your rational perspective on these topics Andrew. Seems like Bill struggles to put his finger on the things that bother him about tattooing. He realizes that tattooing is very much an individual thing, yet questions when something becomes “too much”. What might be too much for some, could not be enough for others.
I struggle to rationalize my opinions often, too. That is why he and I can talk forever 😂 thank you for watching!
“Who does tattooing belong to?” is a question that I find worth answering in conversations such as these.
My biggest problem with tattoo schools is the issue we see in Oregon. Many of us got into tattoo because we didn't work well in the rigid structure of school/traditional labor. But now tattoo school is being put in between new tattooers and the trade as a matter of law. That sucks when we know there are other ways to learn.
On the Tim Hendrix episode he made a great point that any half decent tattoo studio will still want to re apprentice somebody from scratch who’s payed for their tattoo diploma and potentially re teach them bad habits too. So they are not only wasting their money at the schools but their time too.
I wonder if this "gatekeeping" and traditionalism is in a lot of industries. I am a programmer and I see so many similarities between becoming a tattoer and becoming a programmer. For example, we have "coding bootcamps" which are basically the equivalent of tattoo school, where a person just goes through a three month school and comes out a "programmer". I took the more traditional approach of getting a computer science degree, getting an internship and then working in the industry. I honestly look down upon the people who do these coding bootcamps and don't really agree on this approach for learning fundamentals and building a solid foundation.
I am sure there are parallels everywhere! Thanks for watching
👌💥
Enjoy!
A Dan Kubin interview would be good ,, the machines everyone went crazy for.
Granted my experience is limited to my perspective. But I love Tattooing and it’s special to me. Corporations ruin so much, so I don’t think they’re gonna help tattooing because it’s fueled by greed.
Ink master was far from the first tattoo reality show though? Wasn’t it?
You are correct but it has probably been by far the biggest I would think?
Is it crazy Russ made money off a color wheel! lol literally reinvented the wheel. I know this is a hot take, but it seems to me Russ just found a way to make money off new tattooers and also bring more tattooers in to make more money. I don’t think that helps Tattooing.
Took you long enough.
I was grounded, my mom took my computer away
IF you wanna talk about scams in tattooing, go talk to tattooers who sold NFT's, there isn't much more of an obvious cash grab than that.
Definitely interested in that topic. I don’t know enough about it to have an opinion yet
I’m tired of the traditional cis male tattooers telling us that we can’t tattoo or apprentice unless we go through ridicule, hazing and torment to earn it. There’s others ways that tattooing can be learned.
Yeah no one is saying that
"I'M BACK" and then we get two videos in 6 months...WTF
