Great tutorial with real life fiddling without the 'just do this' and then THEY don't show the actual 'doing' of it, somehow it just magically gets done. I love this approach. A lightning ground strike blew the power supply and this got me through the strip down and re-install. I would just add that the points where the two screwdrivers go in to push the logic board out are two steel posts crimped to the logic board which can get bent back when re-inserting and then the long black screw won't seat properly through the left one. The post needed realigning to get it vertical and then all was good. My Mac mini is alive once more. £40 for a tested power supply and this tutorial is all it took. Brilliant. Thank you.

      Bent?

@@ItsBinhRepaired Yes. Once the board came out I could see that the two posts were actually loose on the board (probably from me struggling to get the board out) and when I slid it back in, they bent toward the back of the case instead of riding up onto the black ramp and aligning with the threaded holes so that the two long black screws would not align with the holes. Once I realised and got them straight with a pick from the top, all was good. I should have watched the video all the way through before I started, then I would have realised what I was trying to achieve. Still a great tutorial. Brian

@rupertphmode1753 if you used the method I used to pull it out, you have to pull on the screwdrivers as close to the board as possible, otherwise instead of a pulling force, it's a prying force.

Superb video. Just installed SSD into Late 2014 Mac Mini. About 90 minutes work including running through the video a couple of times beforehand. Thank you!!!

Great instructions worked perfectly. Great close-ups, great camera work, made it very easy to follow.
One comment below was a bit negative - so I'll say it here - If it's not obvious from the video, this is NOT simple! If you have no experience doing this sort of thing, and you are not using a device you can afford to lose, don't do it!, bring it to Apple.
Great video super instructive, worked perfectly for me. Mac mini runs super fast with the SSD.

Awesome! Glad it helped and you liked the camera work. It's a bit tricky filming and working on them because my camera is also in the top down view that's best when working on these things, so my head sometimes blocks the camera in my videos. Haha

Glad I found you. About to put an SSD into my 2014 MM. Bought an M1 yesterday. Going to use the old one as a NAS. Thanks.

I would have totally stalled at the point of removing the logic board without this guide! Quite alarming, the amount of force you have to apply, even using two screwdrivers. Totally excellent guide, streets ahead of the competition!

thanks! Yeah, it's crazy how much force it takes to pull it out.

When I tried to remove fan connector the bottom one also came off. Can't solder also. How can I repair and the fan running.

You'll need to find someone that can solder it :(

@@ItsBinhRepaired Here in India it's difficult to find. Not only that the fan connector terminal plastic that holds the wires also slipped. Now the wires are open with metal sleeves. Even if anybody does SME work the fan connector cannot be reconnected since they are open and separate.
      My Rs.55000 have gone.
What I understood from this is we should not meddle with Apple products. For service and repair we should take to Apple care if available in the region.
But videos like yours and OWC give illusion that we can do it ourselves.
      Thanks

@@srinivasvittalm8438 it's very simple if you did it as described. Usually it only rips out if you didn't do it the way I said. You can solder the individual wires directly to the board.

@@srinivasvittalm8438 what you should learn from this is that you should watch the videos multiple times before attempting so you can be sure you're doing it exactly the same. I used no special tools to take it apart. Apple employees are not superhuman. The only difference is if they break it, they will replace it because you're paying them for the service.
