The dancers and drummers are all amazing. I love the diversity of dance moves in the jingle sidestep. My step daughter and her 4 children (my grandchildren) are Ojibwa. My wife and I took our grandchildren to Manitoulin Island so they could learn more about their people, culture, traditions, and customs. Everywhere we travelled we met people, who welcomed us with warmth and acceptance. When settler culture and First Nations cultures come together in friendship and harmony, amazing things happen.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful video! I do not fully understand what I am seeing because it's so different from my tribe. Yet I can feel this dance is very profound, something with a lot of history.
This culture flourishes amid a dying white culture. They are dying because they believe that their's is the only way. Go natives. This gathering and dance is a beautiful and meaningful thing that has survived despite the best efforts of those who try to destroy it. I pray to the great spirit that I will always follow a more diverse path.
sad to see my response to you hidden by YT.. however i disagree with your comment. pale peoples are now realising they are not 'wyte'... they have a history, and it is flourishing.. separate from western culture which is dying. you may not see it in your bubble, but folk are finding their beautiful cultures again that were once almost wiped out just like this beautiful strong culture. take care and peace with you friend.
Uhhh no the drumming and singing is very important you know when they raise there fans in the air? That’s when they know the song is a quarter way done
Can someone educate me please on the dance? I totally admit I don't know much, and yes, I can Google it... but I'd rather hear it from someone rather than a search engine. Ty in advance! 🙏🏾
This is the Jingle Dress Dance. Each dress should have 365 cones; one for every day of the year. The sounds of the cones is meant to bring a joyful sound (unto God/Creator/Jesus) in worship. That’s my brief understanding. Jingle dress dancing comes from a certain area of the United States/Indian Country. It’s belief & background ties in with the culture of the specific Tribes. ❤
@@hilo5901 Thank you. Wanting to learn more I found a video on another channel about the history and traditions of the jingle dancing. It’s from a public television station in the US and is approximately 30 minutes long. Those of you who are interested, check it out. (I don’t provide a link in respect to this channel owner as I don’t have permission.)
I love all their outfits and jewelry..they make them by hand. All so beautiful~ 🤍🤍💯
