Onewolf101 it's a big deal. Watch the video again and take note of every time the ken gets a combo off of his opponent thinking he's going to be thrown. In S3 you don't need to guess wrong, you block low and react to high. If the ken grabs his offense is over, so you're happy to be grabbed and don't need to risk getting counter hit by trying to tech.
It’s pretty much over when a Ken player throws you in the corner with “any” combo. By the time, the opponent gets out of the corner he pretty much died, if he didn’t died in the corner. Check out that vid pretty much everyone died in the corner!
it is important because it was the center of his gameplan. what made ken dangerous was that throw loop in the corner. without it it is going be harder for him to get counter hits which because no one is going to mash or try to tech really unless they are near death since getting thrown ends pressure. all he will have is a reactable overhead meh normals to frame trap and play footsie with. now he may get changes besides that that lead to him being all right but ken was the character that depended on throw loops the most. if you want to know what happens when you remove that from a chracter with no compensation take a look at season 2 ryu. there are many reasons why he was bad but one of the biggest was the lack of threat from his throws meaning he could not get people to get hit by his frame traps to actually do his high damage. this left him with a bad pressure game bad mix up game and bad footsie game and ken may end up in the same spot season 3 if capcom is not careful.

The problem with capcom is that they don't always know how to nerf a character. In season 2 they nerfed nash, chun and ryu to death when they could've handled their nerfs much better. Now they made Ken's distance after throw ridiculously far, they could've just made his recovery frames more to kill throw loops - they took away the setups you got after throw too. No more guessing if the opponent's Ken would hit low, cross tatsu for 50/50, do an overhead, jump or anything else. It's just throw and back to neutral. It's sad because Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li are the most iconic characters for street fighter and Capcom just treated them harshly. Why would anyone be motivated to pick up Ken and Ryu over Akuma now except for the love of their character, their cons just out weight the pros far more.

increasing recovery frames prevented ryu from doing loops but it didn't distance him after the throw. That's how you nerf a throw not by pushing back ken to almost half the screen space. There is no oki now, when he dashes in and hits a button his opponent will have advantage frames over ken.
DarkFeels Actually this "nerf" is actually a buff to Ken. Getting pushed away from the opponent after throw puts him in the perfect position to keep people in the corner. If they couldn't escape the corner before, now it's even harder cuz he can just react acordingly to keep you in the corner. He never needed to be close to you to keep pressure anyway.
Ken and Ryu players are cheap AF! I'd be happy if they just did away with them and akuma and just stayed with characters that actually require skill to use

I’m pretty sure you can dash and get a throw or meaty, you just can’t shimmy on wake up any more. Just makes it so that they have a chance to press a button in the shimmy after a fake tick throw attempt. Even now you can dash after your throw in the corner and get a meaty throw still.

I’m pretty sure you can dash and get a throw or meaty, you just can’t shimmy on wake up any more. Just makes it so that they have a chance to press a button in the shimmy after a fake tick throw attempt. Even now you can dash after your throw in the corner and get a meaty throw still.

He is still a more rushdown orientated shoto with tools that other characters would kill for.

There is no such thing as those characters cannot compete against others cuz who is the capcom cup 2017 champion? Menard...who is his character? ..birdie....do we consider birdie as a strong character ? we did not...well what happened? birdie competes against akuma and won......... it depends on the situation and the mentality of the players actually.....street fighter is a game that players can master any character and become a success....menard proved it this year.....
