In this addiction we do recover, as a Orthodox Christian I've been clean for a while but I have to get to my prayer life. My patron Saint Xenia knows about drunkenness and addiction, find others like you who are living clean and pray
Please pray for me. Sone bad financial decisions a couple of years ago have devastated our finances. We rent but the cost is too high - we have no way of ever buying a home. We work in good jobs (education) but struggle with basic things. I have been thinking dark thoughts lately. I need Christ. I need His help. 😢
I will pray for you. Dont forget: dark thoughts are of the Devil. When you have them, supress them by remembering Jesus Christ. May God bless you my Brother in Christ❤️☦️
Greetings, I as well mad some horrible financial decisions which cost me everything in 2021 . I had a back injury, lost all my money, unemployed, and my girlfriend at the time left me. All these things happened at the same time. I was devastated!!! But now in your weakness and struggle is when you are strong because you rely on God and cry out to him. Don’t focus on the money or the houses. Just grow spiritually in Christ and be content with a simple life. I still have nothing financially but I have peace now and everyday I wake up I am rich. Stay on the narrow path and the Lord Jesus will not forsake you. Things will get better.
I'm only 35 and my shoulder and neck and back got Fd up from a chiropractor, followed by a truck accident. I've had dark thoughts too of unaliving myself but like the brother said above, such thoughts come from Satan. I pray you find a means to be content and successful. ❤🙏🔥 Jesus can transform us. I believe that fully. And that includes financial status, God can flip the switch.
Always remember that God meets us in our struggles and that is where we can grow in our faith most. I will keep you in my prayers friend. God bless you.
Please keep me in your prayers (Nektarios) for my health isn't doing well. Today I was medically unable to attend Liturgy and was anointed yesterday for healing by my priest.
I have been struggling with porn, lust, swearing and drug addiction. I’ve been suffering from depression, severe anxiety and I’m scared of going to hell. I’m super lukewarm and keep falling in these cycles of sin.
Your honesty in judging yourself is heartwarming. You have a chance. but beware of the damage pornography does in you. 8 years after I started my struggle against pornography and lust, I still struggle daily against the thoughts from the enemy and the damage to my own heart. You have to starve this warrior that has grown stronger than you. Sincere dilligent prayer and fasting, removal of all temptations and looking to salvation thru Christ's mercy and unbelievable love for you. I stlii feel the damage, but Christ let's us fall into things like this for us to struggle, fight, pray, weep... for our salvation. Fight, pray, fast. It doesn't happen right away but set your eyes on Him alone. Pray ro St. Mary of Egypt, St. Moses of Ethiopia to pray for you and help. Just one more thing, DONT EVER GIVE UP. And I will pray for you Jack. Stay with Orthodoxy, attend service, read holy fathers. God is with you, no matter what you feel
@Jack1131 hi Jack, don't ever give up! Get used to using the Jesus prayer, flee temptation as best as you can, and set a prayer rule. Stick to your prayer rule. Be brutally honest in confession. Fear of hell is a good motivator. Fasting as best as you can will help immensely. Stay calm and know Christ will always be in the struggle with and for you. Struggle, and don't think it's going to be a quick resolution. You have this so you can be saved. Yo need this so you can struggle. It's in this that you will learn to pray, fast, go to church and receive Holy Communion. It will get better. Many of us have struggled with the same, including me. Never lose hope, you will learn to trust and rely on God because of this. Take heart and rejoice, thank Jesus Christ for the opportunity to struggle. Godspeed Jack. I will pray for you as well.
You're also aware of it and acknowledge it, which a lot of people are not, keep faith and pray to God and let's pray for each other because we all are sinners ❤
I was in the same position two months ago im 20 it was hard and its still hard but i didn’t want the devil to keep laughing on my face and being hypocrite at the time of praying, all i can say is never stop asking for forgiveness, create a discipline Run exercise your body and spent all night reading the bible no matter how much you have to fight against your thoughts read ROMANS, MOSES and PSALM strength is in them
I never thought of this parable in a positive sense, as leading him closer to God, but only as negative. I am amazed that I never saw the call to works-clearly stated here. Thank you for this teaching.

Thank you Fr. for the clarity regarding the parable. We have much to consider and meditate upon. Moreso, to put into action. The widow's mite is one of my favorite stories from Scripture as it so very instructional and powerful.
Dear Father Spyridon, I pray this message reaches you in peace. I’ve been going through a challenging time, and I feel the weight of my struggles more each day. There are days when I feel the Holy Spirit so strongly that I’m moved to tears, and in those moments, I’m reminded of His presence and grace. But other days, and especially nights, I find myself crying for another reason..because I realize I haven’t thought of the Lord until I’m lying in bed, overwhelmed by the day. I’m struggling with this inconsistency and the guilt that comes with it. I know I need to place my trust in God, but some days it feels harder than others. Please keep me in your prayers as I seek strength and balance in my faith, and if you have any wisdom to share, I would be grateful. In Christ, Dennis
Hi Dennis, Remember that our relationship with God isn’t based on the intensity of our emotions but on His steadfast love and faithfulness. When you find yourself remembering the Lord only at the end of the day, let that moment become a seed. Instead of focusing on guilt, use it as a starting point to bring Him into the rest of your days. I struggle with doubts of intentions, and this severely hampers my empathy. I think about all the charities I've read that are corrupt, or that many homeless in the city centers beg to fund their drug addiction, and so if I gave money to these causes it would be misused. My church has a local charity it supports, as well as other ministries like supporting another parish in outreach of meals to the needy, and we sponsor missionarie(s) overseas regularly. I feel safer giving my money to these causes and to the church directly... but it still gives me pause when I consider my reaction and my hesitance to help people I see as I walk or drive, as if my help is conditional in some way. Any thoughts about this issue would be appreciated, especially from Fr, though I don't mean to presume worthiness to warrant answer. Thank you.
alms can be a simple as a kindness to a sad friend. It doesn't have to be money to a stranger. For folks seen on the street or roadside... if they are panhandling you are much wealthier than they. Even if they have more money than you or their intentions are not so honorable. Your alms are never to the person always to Christ the prototype of the icon.
Fr Spyridon spoke about this in his video entitled "The Gospel is incompatible with secular logic" which I just saw. I now understand. I pray that Christ helps me not just to learn this but to live it.
I give away all my wealth father thank you, as being raised with great wealth. It has never made me happy and being raised among the millionaires this too is troubling seeing the way the poor have been treated. I just want Jesus Christ that is sufficient for me. I give away everything and left everyone for Jesus Christ. I feel inner joy as the desert fathers. I never been so happy before as I'm today with the living GOD! He lives in my heart. Let us not forget our Holy mother of God for we have such a loving mother that no earthly mother can compare. we need to honor the mother of our salvation ☦️❤️ thank you all for your supportive comments. There is a secret relationship between a loving heart and Christ. This relationship is not as the one as men and women.
Hi Father Spyridon I am so grateful God has Blessed us with you showing us guidance and important topics of becoming stronger in Faith and I was wondering if you could make a video on scrupolosity I myself struggle with it and I would really love if you could make a video on it and how people can deal with it may God Bless you and everyone
Hey Father, truly in Orthodoxy we find the fullness of Christ. Dear Father, I went to one catacuman class but now my mother who is a Hindu has banned me from going to church. Please pray for me and much love to you Father. God bless you and protect you. Stay safe.
As Hugh Mundell said: “Jah will provide”. This is my daily mantra and it has not let me down yet. Obsession with materialism is the root of gnostic luciferianism and the anger of not being equal to God, with the ability of manifesting anything you want at any time. As Matthew 6:26 says “therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, not about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”. The great irony, at least that I have observed, is that by humbling yourself in front of the Lamb of God you will attain many beautiful and bountiful things, without the need of senselessly and impatiently slandering the creator as if our mortal position was the wiser one. I always reflect on the idea to pass along any prosperity to others if God ever blesses me with it, treating it as a testament of faith that the Lord our God is watching over me. God bless 🙏🏻
Father Spyridon, I seek your help. I have been feeling far from Christ and sinning more then I have ever. I would like if you or a commenter would help me in my desperate times. Thank you.
4 Steps To Becoming Closer To God ❤️ 1 Prayer 2 Repentance 3 Confession 4 Search - Draw near to God and He will draw near to you ❤️ Increasing my prayer time was my breakthrough. When we pray for 20, 40 or 60 minutes and pray in a more consistent way, then we develop a deeper profound relationship with God. Pray in a quiet place, although we can pray anywhere. Pray when needed is very important. Get into the habit of praying and you will see how it becomes natural and very special. When things are not going well, it's a result of not praying enough and or sin in our lives. Sin will hurt our relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. If we sin, then we must repent and confess and go to prayer to get back in a strong relationship with our Father. Talk to God everyday. Praying is a Wonderful Blessing 🙂 APPLICATION 1 Pray to God about what your concerns are with this application. 2 Pour your heart out to God. 3 Ask God for mercy. 4 Be thankful to God for our blessings Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul ❤
It would be an immense help if you could pray for me. Ever since I first smoked weed, I have been struggling with anxiety and derealization for three years, and I feel deep regret for it. I don't want to believe that something is wrong with me because, apart from the symptoms, I am a highly motivated and healthy teenager in life. I have found my peace in our Father, Jesus Christ, and He has helped me greatly. I’ve had many weeks and months where I’ve felt amazing, but it’s a tough time for me, and the symptoms are coming back. May the Father be with you, and remain in hope and love.
Thank you for this wisdom. Amen. I believe the last part of what Jesus said to the young man is also important, that is: the instruction to take up the cross and follow him. That is as important as the giving away of his riches. Here is the whole verse according to St. Mark. “Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.” Mark 10:21 May Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us. Amen
I think Father has spoken in his videos many times about taking up your cross he has a video specifically on that verse. How is it relevant to what is being taught in this one?
Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say, “I have no pleasure in them”;
i pray for everyone of you to you find strength in Jesus. may he help you with any struggles you may have, may he have mercy on your stuffering. we all have strength through him, we just have to find it through our bad thoughts. pray to him talk to him about what is hurting you and may be bless you all ❤✝️
It is from within. That is how close the kingdom is. If you dont do anything with a joyfilled heart then it means nothing. If this doesnt come from a motive of love and a deep desire to please our Father then the fruit is rotten. When it benefits you nothing then you have found unconditional love.
I used to be a Christian once, at least I thought I was. Ater close to 15 years I find myself here. Father Syridon's reverence is touching. I've never been to an Orthodox church and know little about it. Would it make any sense for me to go?
Again Father, your videos arrived at the right time, i'm a teenagers and i'm in the beginning stage of having money, and i want to do it well.Today and Friday I passed by homeless people and I felt bad, but it's not enough since I had coins on me. I feel really bad and I ask myself a lot of questions. How do I manage my money? When I get $10 from my mom, do I have to give it all to the church? And what if there are 3 homeless people and I have three dollars, is it better to give $1 to everyone? or $3 to one? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I asked myself it. Help me please, God bless you father
Im confused for myself, im an 18 year old girl and i live in an area where its really dangerous to be a female, a lot of homeless people are really aggressive and assault women many times. Im scared to give them anything because i dont want to get harassed again, once a boy started insulting me and my friends and said we have STDs and smell because were girls, I've gotten followed before by another guy who i didn't even talk or look at, he thought i was pretty and kept trying to talk to me and how was i doing but i ignored him and he left me alone. The adults many times refuse working because they make an excuse for anything but to at least try to work and the women will follow you until you give them money.
I've always been torn on this issue. As a small business owner, I view my work as an something akin to an ascetic struggle, as I work diligently and sacrifice to grow my business and make it profitable. The harder I work and the more I sacrifice, the more profitable my business becomes. I'm aware of the spiritual dangers of money, but I also see it as a potential fruit of virtue in some cases. I recognize that this view is likely influenced by my Protestant upbringing (e.g. Protestant work-ethic, or worse, prosperity theology), and I worry that it's not in accordance with the Orthodox view of work and money. Still, I haven't found any clear cut answers on this issue in Orthodox teaching.
"as I work diligently and sacrifice to grow my business and make it profitable". Maybe this will help.... "as I work diligently and sacrifice for Christ and make that work and sacrifice profitable for Him." If you can frame your work this way and see that you have nothing, you have grown nothing, you have made nothing, you have profited nothing. It is all given to you from Him. That may help square up your efforts and the profits produced and possibly what to do with them.
Receiving wealth for your work is not sinful. How you view your money and how you use it is what God cares about. If God provides you with a successful business then you should exercise joy in giving to others who are in need. It isn't Protestant vs orthodox. The scriptures give many examples of how money is to be viewed and used in the kingdom of God.
Father what do you think about spreading the gospel , is it something we should all do and if so how would you recommend we go about it, ive deleted most of my social media as i find it is full of temptations and evil so i dont want to post things, what else do you think i should do. Thank you so much, and may the Lord bless and protect you🙏🏼
There are times when we must speak, but we should avoid personal opinion. The greatest witness is the way we live. When people see Christ in our love, our forgiveness, our patience, generosity and faith. People can encounter Christ in us if we don’t get in the way. It is encountering Christ, the living God, that reaches the true depths of a human soul: our words too often only stimulate the superficial aspects of a person. God bless you.

Even if they have more money than you or their intentions are not so honorable. Your alms are never to the person always to Christ the prototype of the icon.
@@Abr1895 Don’t give to the ones that are deceiving people. We need to give wisely to the ones that are genuinely in need.
Fr Spyridon spoke about this in his video entitled "The Gospel is incompatible with secular logic" which I just saw. I now understand. I pray that Christ helps me not just to learn this but to live it.
Amen 🙏🔥
Amen ❤🙏🏽
If you're giving it away ... I could use some
Joking.... But also very serious... 😅

I have not seen BS like this here before. Pride alone, sentenced Satan forever.
I find it difficult because I want money and wealth but not out of greed but for my parents who work so long every day
I find myself in the same situation but it is very tempting to want more especially if you have ambition
Same here. I guess that's where the parable with the birds and the lillies comes in. God always provides what he sees fit. God bless!
Yes, indeed. Remember Him in times of peace. People didn't, that's why we are the way we are in the modern world.
Thank you so much for your videos Father Spyridon. I enjoy them and they are inspiring. God bless you!
All of us need prayers, what ever is happening in our lives
Brothers and sisters please pray for me as well. I struggle deeply with fornication. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me.
Praying now ❤️
Father Spyridon, I seek your help. I have been feeling far from Christ and sinning more then I have ever. I would like if you or a commenter would help me in my desperate times. Thank you.
4 Steps To Becoming Closer To God ❤️
1 Prayer
2 Repentance
3 Confession
4 Search - Draw near to God and He will draw near to you ❤️
Increasing my prayer time was my breakthrough. Praying is a Wonderful Blessing 🙂

this video shows up at a very interesting time in my life.
Amen
Its important but wasnt related directly to the message of the video. If that makes sense
I think Father has spoken in his videos many times about taking up your cross he has a video specifically on that verse. How is it relevant to what is being taught in this one?
I agree with everything except your understanding of the nature of faith and works.
Ecclesiastes 12:1
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say, “I have no pleasure in them”;
i pray for everyone of you to you find strength in Jesus. may he help you with any struggles you may have, may he have mercy on your stuffering. we all have strength through him, we just have to find it through our bad thoughts. pray to him talk to him about what is hurting you and may be bless you all ❤✝️
Mark 8:36
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
It is from within. That is how close the kingdom is.
If you dont do anything with a joyfilled heart then it means nothing. If this doesnt come from a motive of love and a deep desire to please our Father then the fruit is rotten.
When it benefits you nothing then you have found unconditional love.

I used to be a Christian once, at least I thought I was. Ater close to 15 years I find myself here. Father Syridon's reverence is touching. I've never been to an Orthodox church and know little about it. Would it make any sense for me to go?
Glory to the LORD Jesus ✝️!!!
Those that keep the law are righteous, but only Jesus kept and indeed fulfilled the law.
@@Abr1895 That's a good way of thinking about it, thanks.
Amen exactly even satan believes jesus rose on the third day
Can you make a video about how to strengthen our faith and deal with our doubts about God ?
