TV Ads 1983 England

- Thanks for the comments advising me of the correct year being 1983. Some television adverts, gleanings from an old video tape. There are two breaks here, the first from Channel4,
Melbury Cheese (featuring Constable's Haywain)
Hayward's Pickles (featuring Inspector Corner, of the Yard)
Black and Decker Workmate (an early and basic advert)
Butter - "Go on, Butter 'em up"
Vicks Expectorant Cough Syrup
Heinz Beans (an expensive animated advert)
Southern Electricity Shops.
The second set, also 198-, was on TVS (southern England's ITV local channel),
Welsh Development Agency (this ad was famously parodied by the Not The Nine O'Clock News team)
Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate
Butter - "Go on, Butter 'em up"
Campari
Budget Electric
Mr Clive of Portsmouth and Southampton (Sheepskins, Leathers, Suedes and Furs)
Bell Leisure Ltd (Ashington) Snooker Tables etc.
3:53 Such a great TV Ad, features a pre-famous Timothy Spall too 👍🏼
I’ll go back in time to buy a Snooker Table :)
And Il quite fancy one of those sheepskin coats starting from £49.99. That's probably about £275.00 today.
Amazing that bell leisure ltd are still going as a business in ashurst and according to Google maps still sell snooker tables although looks like they are more into selling swimming pools now
Isn't is incredible that the one thing we dodge online, is the very thing we look back on fondly.
The walrus later got fired from his job as a lighthouse keeper because he spent so long in the toilet.
These can't be 1981 because neither TVS nor Channel 4 launched until 1982. The BBC1 caption at the start is for a programme about the Charles & Diana wedding which might have confused you.
Of the local TVS ads, the Tricorn Centre was notable for its brutalist design and, like some other (though by no means all) such buildings, didn't really work as intended. The Ashington ad confused me a bit because the only place of that name I was familiar with was the one in Northumberland, which sort of makes me think of that TVS/Tyne Tees 'Britain divided' Friday Live.
1983 is my birth year ❣️
Even the advert s were better in those days ..
I would say that most of these were on air closer to 1983 if anything.
06:01 Ah, the Tricorn. I've got a bit of it in my home. More valuable than the Berlin Wall imo. It was pig ugly though :D
0:37 - excellent.
FAILED IN WALES
Can you upload that snooker advert plz

Timothy Spall.
