Nice theory, while I haven't played through the entire game. I don't quite like kat's overall personality. It bugs me to think sweet aurora turned into such a rude selfish woman.
I just watched the anime and found out that she was born from a normal mother (which is not Layton's wife, making her adopted) who died shortly after her birth. And in the credit's of azran legacy, a human Aurora can be seen with a perfectly alive mother and not without one. So, unfortunately, this comment makes no sense.
