Skyward Sword has a lot of nostalgic value for me, as it was the game that really got me into gaming. It still holds its place as one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm so happy that you really did it justice here. Great video!
I honestly never had a single problem with the motion controls. I only ever grew up with a nintendo and a Wii, so motion controls were nothing new. But the detail, the fun, the design and most of all the characters is what truly got me so invested in this game. It has so much nostagia for me as well as just the feeling of connection to everyone in that town and the fact that Link actually seems to have a fully fledged personality! I love botw for example, but like... in most of the character and relationship building memories with Zelda he's just like...there...and that's it. This game gets way too much hate from way too many people who just can't deal with new controls and didn't even give it a chance.
A lot of people when skyward sword hd come out and they're just disappointed because there's no twilight princess hd and no wind waker hd, but let's give some love for skyward sword
Great video. Instead of a generic review and stating the obvious points you're highlighting sections no-one else points out. Therefore the analysis is in fact quite unique. I'm now playing the HD version and I must say it's a lot better than I remembered ten years ago. Maybe it's due to the (unnecessary) banter on the internet, but my expectations were quite low although I enjoy it now more than ten years ago. I think the negative perception of this game really comes from the third act which is a series of fetch quests with mundane tasks.
Thanks for watching! I've always felt as if this game does a lot of cool stuff which is rarely ever talked about, so I wanted to make this video to bring some of it to light. Also yeah, that section of the game was pretty tedious.
I have played the Skyward Sword HD on the Switch for quite some time recently and I cannot say I’d dislike it. The only thing I ever disliked about it was the Pumpkin Minigame. And yes I really hate it’s guts. That being said though, I have to point out: if That is my only real gripe with the game so far, it’s an astonishing amount of fun , that I got out of the game. And it did come naturally, even though, before playing it for the first time, I was worried, because so many people dislike Skyward Sword, some of them even passionately so. I am glad though, that I started playing it, because now it’s even possibly among my favorite games of the series.
I'm going to enjoy playing this in a couple weeks. There's so much good that was in this game. I still remember playing through it years ago and thinking "this is the best Link and Zelda pair we've ever gotten." And it was coming off of Twilight Princess which had a good main pair but in a different sense. So that is probably my biggest memory of Skyward Sword. Just appreciating that pair. There's no doubt I had some struggles at times with the motion controls and having it register/stay synced up and all that. But that only makes me more excited for this. The Switch should let this game be played exactly the way it was always meant to be. And it will have other options too. There are other issues the game had. But in the end it has one of the best pure stories and cast of characters in the franchise. That's worth celebrating. This will be a lot of fun.
i'm really happy this game is coming to Switch, so that the technical difficulties won't get in the way of this awesome game and story. I agree that the motion controls were really seamless -- when they worked. the skyward strike was especially prone to failing, so hopefully they'll nail that down in the rerelease. Your editing in this video was great, very seamless, and, at times, very funny! I had to skip past the spoiler-y bits like the boss fight section, but hopefully I'll remember to come back and catch those parts after I finish the game.
Thanks a bunch for watching, I really appreciate your feedback! I'm definitely glad that they've added an option to turn motion controls off, although I'm wondering how they're gonna make the Skyward Strike work in that mode (maybe by clicking the right stick?). With no sensor bar to worry about, hopefully less calibration issues and the similar two-controller setup to the Wii, the motion controls for the Switch version show a lot of promise!
Great video! I’ve never played skyward sword so I’m excited to check it out tomorrow!!! I’ve heard so many negative things over the years and it’s great to hear from actual fans of the game more recently
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! To this day, I still consider Skyward Sword to be my favourite Zelda game and I'm glad it's getting a second chance on the Switch. Hope you have fun with the game!
A game I’m really looking forward to playing on the Switch - I had long since ditched the Wii by the time Skyward Sword had arrived so it will be a totally new experience for me. I heard all of the complaints about the motion controls at the time so it’s interesting that you defend them here. Great video, you have superb production values and a really expressive voice!!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! Yeah, there are a lot of people who didn't get the chance to play Skyward Sword when it first came out, so it's cool to see that it's being brought over to the Switch for everyone to enjoy 👌
Skyward Sword was my first ever Legend of Zelda game. It is my second favorite Wii game and third favorite Zelda game (most likely my top 15/20 all time favorite games). I loved almost everything about the game (looking at you IMPRISONED), and I can't wait to buy the HD remaster (didn't really see that HD happening, but that 60fps is buttery smooth). July 16 is gonna be one hell of a good day. May even avoid buying anything unnecessary in June so I can buy those Skyward Sword JoyCons (I only have a Switch Lite, but f*** it. I can still use JoyCons).
Been playing Zelda since the first in 87. The only one I have not completed is this one. When I realized the last few hours of gameplay was going to be backtracking and motion control and underwater I was done. Now that it will have an option to use joysticks only, I'll def be picking up the Switch version. Still I was a little disappointed at that announcement. I would really love to see WindWaker HD!!!!! Please Nintendo!
i've been looking for this SS is one of my favorites but since the price for hd is 60 which is no surprise and the game is getting a lot of hate so thank you
I really appreciate this take my guy. I’ve always loved skyward sword and it bothers me that people trash it so readily. I thank you my guy

You hit the nail on the head with Link -- he actually feels like a character in this game and it really makes a difference!
Looking forward to the HD version even more now!
Great to hear 🎉

For sure! While Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are great too, Skyward definitely deserves some appreciation as well.

Bro I felt like I was watching a TED talk LMAO. Amazing job man
Glad you enjoyed 😂
Thanks for this video man I feel this Zelda entry gets so much hate unnecessarily
True, it's a shame really

I completely agree, it's gonna feel right at home on the Switch. Not long left to wait now!

@@Fobb I’m about 6 hours in right now and I love it so far!
Never played it on the Wii. Guess I'm in for a good sword swinging , bird flying quest.
For sure! Thanks for watching!
