They are being taught in places that society had propped up as symbols of great authority and truth. I'm from Scotland and had the privilege of visiting San Francisco 20 years ago. What an amazingly beautiful place, relatively small, with a quirky cosmopolitan vibe. Always wanted to visit again, however I wouldn't go now. So sad to see a great city fall into such, self-inflicted, decline and neglect 😢

I don't live in America, but it's interesting to watch their society collapse. This is all by design......create the problem first then sell the people a solution they would never accept under normal circumstances.
I recall in the 70s the whole movement to close the institutions that housed mentally ill patients and put them on the streets. They would get a stipend and they would be monitored by Welfare services. That was the plan. It would be interesting to see how much money was spent on these institutions and the amount of money now spent on welfare services and how much actually goes to these people. My guess is that in the 70s more money ended up helping these people and today we are spending more money just keeping a bloated bureaucracy that helps no one.
... and the “solution” just exacerbates the problem because it treats symptoms and ignores the root causes.

This is what happens in every city/area where they lessen criminal penalties for drugs and set up those free sites to hand out needles because they want "clean" drug abusers. And allowing the drug addicts to set up homeless camps everywhere while handing them free tax payer money is just an insult to the hard working people who are productive members of society.

I worked in The City for 15 years, left during the pandemic and will never go back. Unless you live or work there you have no idea how bad it is, I saw some awful things I can’t unsee. Last year I move out of the state, a state I lived in for 57 years and loved. I will for the first time in my lifetime vote Republican.

How about the congress and its war on rights across the board? The issue here is drug abuse. We must solve the cause of that before anything will be solved. It's not like there isn't massive drug abuse and homelessness in Red States.

I lived in San Fran for 2 yrs(2015/16), It was the worse place I've lived. It Stinks, the Traffic is 5am to 9pm. the Toll cost starts to Suck! people are Rude, I will never go back there. I had 3 cars broken into. I will never miss SF. IT is to Expensive, but it's not worth the cost for semi good weather.

When I was a kid growing up in Oakland in the 1940s & ‘50s, going to San Francisco was as big a deal as Disneyland was later. So many happy memories. The Cable Cars, Blum’s, zoo, Golden Gate Park (and the two headed snake), Cliff House, downtown department stores, Laughing Sal, and at about 8 yrs old, my first walk away shrimp cocktail at Fisherman’s Wharf which started a lifelong love of seafood. I’m glad I knew you then SF.
The only way you could make me go to San Francisco ever again is for surgery at Ucsf
In June of 2022 I went to San Francisco and the town was basically closed and vacant. I couldn’t even find a place to eat.
I didn’t eat until I was on the freeway 101 south in Salinas

I was born and raised in SF, currently working in SF and I can’t even explain how bad things have gotten. You can’t even walk on the side walk because they’re filled with tents, drug addicts, and dealers. It’s unbelievable the priority given to addicts over the law abiding, tax paying, city revenue producing citizens.
Pretty soon there will not be enough tax paying people left in the city.
The way it is going the tax base stores will close their doors and move elsewhere. They will take with them the jobs and the revenue they shell out ! Then more people will come out and loot the mom and pop stores.
Once that happen ,the area where this looting takes place, will never recover.
Look at the Watts area in Los Angeles where they had the looting in the 80th. That area never recovered. As in so many places in cities where they had riots, they never recovered. That is ashamed.

I remember going to Nordstrom in San Francisco. My stepdad was a manager in the men’s department Nordstroms. In 1988 or 1989 I remember my stepfather came home, saying Joe, Montana came in to get fitted. Back then there was some homeless but far from how bad it is now.
Back when the largest Woolworths in the USA was across the street by the cable-car turnaround.
Nordstrom had four floors in the large building at Fifth & Market. Now they're leaving.

I lived in San Francisco for years. I worked in the city even longer. Now, I will not go near it. It has been essentially destroyed. So sad.

I live in SF for many years and I witness the rapid decline of this "once upon a time" beautiful city. I stopped going downtown before the COVID pandemic.

I live in San Francisco and work downtown amongst all of this. I wish someone would do a report on the fact that when the conventions come to town the homeless mysteriously disappear and the minute, they leave within a few days it is back to the way it was. The city cares more about the conventions then they do the taxpayers. It is a real slap in the face.

Some advice from a Grandmother in these difficult times for parents. Try to cut back your spending and tax obligation to keep one parent at home. Chose your residence in the best school district you can afford, rent or purchase a smaller home, think about private school, or home school. I know you are facing a difficult time for parents. Remember your children need you, not stuff. Having children is not only the most rewarding thing you will ever do, it is the most fun too. Have more kids, they need each other too. God Bless, you and your family, you will not be just fine, but great.
If someone were at your door demanding you give them your children or else, what would you do? That is what you are doing now when you send your children to government schools. Don’t forget the government (lefttie Marxist) ruined San Francisco and you can see for yourself the results of “government.”

VDH absolutely nails it. I spent 20 years in the private sector, then recently went back to school to get my teaching certificate. What he describes is exactly what I found when I became a teacher. Example- My school district didn’t have history or social studies books. When I asked why, I was told because a white man may have written them. Academics have become secondary and I would argue irrelevant. It’s all about woke culture in schools now.

When I started teaching college chemistry in 1989, students were able to learn quite effectively with chalk and talk lectures and homework assignments. The education people came in and started saying we needed to change how we taught - hands on, student participation, novel ideas etc. The grades went steadily down. Could someone explain that to me.
Appealing to the lowest common denominations. Education ignores the high achievers and tells the low achievers that everything is just fine.

People need to know that drugs causes rebounding effects.
So did alcohol and other addictive behaviors.(such as addictive gambling, gaming, shopping…etc. as long as it is addictive)
If one used those to calm themselves or make themselves happier, the rebounding effects gonna make the problem worse than is initially was in the mid to long run.
That’s one significant reason why junkies use heavier doses and use mix different drugs at the same time, even they knew it would probably kxll them.
Only using one kind of drugs is not sufficient to ease the pain of living to heavy users.
It is really hard to detox. One better not go that route in the beginning
