Hey @Gooz ! Really well done review. I’ve been using the step-ons as well. One little thing I noticed that i think will really help you is how you step out of them. To avoid the toe “strap” plastic from wearing down, turn your ankle inward instead of outward when you are stepping out of the board. That is pretty much the only cause behind people’s wearing out over time. Hope this helps :)) !!
Hey @K P thank you so much for letting me know! I’ll be sure to turn my ankle inward instead :) how long have you had your Step Ons and how do you like them so far?
@@KP-nj1ke hi, how much movement do you get in your heels when clicked into the bindings? I’ve just bought a pair and when I’m clicked in I’m getting a bit of lift in my heels which feels kind of weird and if I pop an Ollie just in my living room it doesn’t feel as responsive as it does with strap bindings. I know it has to be two clicks to be fully locked in and I’m sure I I can here two clicks when I step in so I am a little unsure if this is normal or not. Any input would be appreciated. Cheers
@@bob6693 I haven’t had any issue of this, sadly. Contact burton & hopefully they can resolve that issue. They’re normally very good with customer service.. best of luck!
Absolutely loved your video my man. You answered everything I wanted to know about. I’m still not sure about how long this step on will last. Even a few clicks in your video and you can see the wear
Thanks man! I loved how clean the blue and white looked with the board. I ended up switching the colorway to the teal and light purple graffiti ones when I had to exchange for a larger size. I’ll show it in my next video!
I’ve used my Photon setup for only 30 days or so an I’ll never go back to Straps. I have a new Burton Fish 3-D that I’m dying to try it out with. I live across the Elk Valley from the Fernie Alpine Resort known for huge Powder Dumps. The Step Ons worked great with my 19 K2 Manifest but I needed a Powder Board.
DC Snowboards now sales step on boots too. No ankle strap with their boots but the boots feel secure. Will be testing them out at Whitefish MT the end of January first of February.
I use the step one for 2 reasons strap on bindings snow gets packed in there sometimes and it’s a pain in the @$$ just to get in the and it’s more convenient
Hey Paul, you’re stuck in them right now?😳 from the comments on this video and a forum I read, you’ll have to use a screwdriver to pry your boot and pants out of the back cleat
Dang dude I thought I had a unique set up:( I also have the 2020 Huck Knife with step ons but I have the slush puppies color way but they're super similar!! Love it tho
One word of advice: Do not, EVER, get your pant leg caught in the heel latch. I had to use the biggest screwdriver I've ever seen to pry the boot off 😐
Ah you’re right Fonzie, Ions do have the ankle strap! I must have overlooked them because I’m more familiar with the Boa lacing system on the tongue than the Ion’s speed lacing system so I went straight to the Photons
@@gooz Cool. I’m in the process of deciding which boots to get with the Step On system. I have the Photons now, but I’m thinking about upgrading to the Ions with the Step Ons.
@@fonzieavila2825 the Ions cost $120 more but the speed zone lacing system sounds well worth the upgrade since you can customize the tension in the upper and lower zones separately. Plus it’s stiffer/more responsive and the liner looks high-end. How do you like your Photons so far? Do you feel like the there’s uneven pressure from the Boa lacing? Also, I personally like how there’s no loose strings or parts with the Boa, but I know people like a more custom fitted lacing.
@@gooz It has two Boa zones, the upper and lower, so I can adjust like the Ion with the speed zone. The Photons were definitely an upgrade from what I had previously, but Since I’m upgrading to the Step On and I need a new boot anyway, I decided to just go with the Ion. It feels really good. It feels stiff, but comfortable. I’m going to test it out on Thursday. We’ll see how it does.
You still see pros using straps so my guess is this is still too beta and many evolutions before they perfect this system. From what I see, this does not look even close to being as secured as ski bindings.

Nice😁 let us know how you like the DC step on boots!
How have these held up over time?
that board setup is niceeee
Thanks man😁
There’s two screws on each binding to adjust the high back, just thought I’d let you know to make sure they’re comfy
Hey Alexander, will do. Thanks for the tip!😁
Is that heel play normal? Mine does that but for some reason my pals have 0 heel play on hers

LMAO
Great review, Gooz! Looking forward to field test reviews👍🏻
Thanks wildchildOz!😁 yup they’re coming soon🏂
Hows their response? No loose area's? Nice and snug to the board?

Hey awesome video! ordered my step on bindings a week ago how long did it take for your to arrive?
Hey thanks Aaron! It took around a week for mine to arrive. Which color did you get?😁
The Ions also have the ankle strap
Yes you’re right! The Photons are currently the only Step On boots offered in wide sizes though
According to Burton the Ions are their stiffest, most responsive boot
That's slick

Ion have ankle strap 🤙🏽
Yeah you’re right dizgotti! That was my bad lol.
Photons come in wide sizes (which I needed) while the Ions don’t.
Do the Ions not have the ankle strap you’re talking about here?

I wish the boots and bindings came with a cool bag still. Now burton sells the bindings bag as a lunch box.
How much the bindings are?
Hey Achmed the bindings are $269.95 USD

So the 2021 dont come with the backpack as the 19-2020 did ?
Hey POTX 2066 it looks like it. The set I received didn’t have a backpack or bag included.
Those things suck. I tried them last year with the burton process board and was more of a pain than they are worth.
The bindings looked cracked already....
