I remember fondly how the Type 99 would melt enemies. Was blown away how their helmets would fly off as their heads exploded. When this was released, I must’ve played through the campaign 50 times.
That's because this game was a huge step forward in the Fps department. It took a very old formula for the genre, World War II, and it gave it an entire makeover. The graphics, gameplay, and storytelling were just jaw dropping. Just compare this to Cod 2 or Cod 3 as both released just a few years prior and were set in WW2 and you'll see this one was a massive improvement. Recently got Platinum in this one and Black Ops. Both are still fantastic after all of these years.
It's for sure my favorite and most replayed through campaign by far and a lot of that has to do with the realism in stuff like the helmets flying off, how soldiers would sometimes slowly stumble and fall after being shot, but above all else - the gore... all you had to do was use weapons like the trench gun, PTRS, MG 42, etc. to see a high volume of flying limbs, heads, guts and blood. Maybe even more brutal were the effects of the M2 flamethrower and molotov cocktails. God, the animation and screams. World at War is really unmatched in terms of raw brutality.
WaW showed what war is really like. It was grounded, brutal, and respectful of the actual events and the men who witnessed them and took part. We will probably never see it’s like again.
I still play this game to this very day, you got to give this game credit the campaign brings me again and again. One of the best games to be made. Still has inaccuracies but I still enjoy the hell out of it.
Combined with the fact that the enemies have guns, your rage, mental breakdowns, and insanity, you have one combined neatly wrapped mission/weapon of mass destruction.

50:08 and 52:27Wings of redemption😂
"It doesn't look like hipfire would be that bad"
*shoots Polonsky*
Vendetta has got to be the best mission in this game, most memorable for me anyways
I still play this game to this very day, you got to give this game credit the campaign brings me again and again. One of the best games to be made. Still has inaccuracies but I still enjoy the hell out of it.
With the amount of grenades thrown at Heart of the Reich alone, you could literally make a nuke
That mission broke people
Combined with the fact that the enemies have guns, your rage, mental breakdowns, and insanity, you have one combined neatly wrapped mission/weapon of mass destruction.
This brought back alot of frustrating and funny memories , like that sniper battle playing that on 360 back in the day i got sooo annoyed with that sniper lol , but great video I enjoyed it , great editing and the audio was awesome to
As soon as I saw the title I was like “Time for Vietnam flashbacks” took me a good 4 months to beat veteran in this game.
I am so happy to see you play this. I love this game and your channel. Thank you S0ur!
I'm so glad you posted this. My roommate and I replayed the game on veteran as well, and wow we felt like useless gamers the whole time we were playing. I forgot what a COD campaign should look like on veteran. Even realism on recent games feel like a cakewalk compared to this.
I've only completed call Of duty 5 sir at war roughly 10 times since it was released though, if really want a Mega elite challenge.
Trying getting through On veteran mode the epilogue level also known as the mile high club stage on the original call Of duty modern warfare.
I still haven't bested the mission to this Day
I typically am not a fan of remasters but this is one game I'd love to have remastered
Ye and keep the grenade spam in the remaster. It's what makes this an infamous campaign. It should be like MWR, but actually fix the MP we don't want MP40 spam again.
Reznov was really helpful for his country
I hope he get a good award
cruel, cruel world.
nah instead he got betrayed and thrown in a gulag
i love reznov but he is a bit more ruthless and brutal then i remembered lol i mean i kinda get why the nazis literally were monsters but he be going crazy with his dialogue lol
@@flygod916 he’s definitely unhinged. At first I thought he just wanted revenge for Stalingrad, but he really just seems to relish in the slaughter
@@notNajimi i mean it's understandable when you read and hear more of his backstory his feelings are similar to that of many who lost everything to the Nazi war machine but definitely he enjoyed every aspect of killing even when it came to those surrendering
Good to see you taking this on. This campaign was super awesome and quite difficult. Beating it on veteran was such a challenge for young me. Such an amazing game.
Fun fact, they don’t throw grenades, they spawn above the players head.
if this is a joke i am sorry but i have literally played hot potato with the japs
Imo this is the greatest CoD campaign of all time
That sniper fight made this game for me. It was my absolute favorite part and it's really nostalgic seeing it again.
LETS GO Omg I love this game and ur campaign walkthroughs. I just beat this on veteran like 5 months back. It’s a lot of fun.
It makes me mad that nobody ever knows the original private Pyle from full metal jacket
I confused my friend when I said "Out fucking standing, Private Pyle!"
The original Pvt. Pyle is literally Gomer Pyle from the 1960s. Long time before Full Metal Jacket
god damn this really takes me back i almost lost my sanity going for vet run
Man, I watched your videos all the time back when Modern Warfare was the new game, and stopped once the next COD came out, and just came across you in "recommended videos" after all this time, I can't belive you don't have much, much more subscribers. You have great content, you deserve a lot more.
By far the hardest campaign I ever completed on Veteran
Do cod 4 you will littleraly have murder tendencies I didn't talk to anyone for 1 week I was so pissed it's possible just very very annoying especially the checkpoints
@@Sentienal it's not so bad except for One Shot One Kill - I spent days on that one. Otherwise I had a lot more trouble with WaW
CoD4 is the hardest. Missions like: One Shot one kill, No fighting in the war room and Mile High Club can only be completed by miracles.
@@piotrmontgomerytv7786 Heat 😬🤫
@@Sentienal cod 4 is not that bad. Just be patient enough.
The fact he could take multiple smh bursts and keep moving is astounding , this is a cake walk compared to the Xbox 360 or ps3 versions
did anyone else get pissed when he never took the death card in nacht from hard landing?😂
I remember completing this campaign, I thought the game was bugged because it was so hard to get past the rescuing sailors part
I don’t even rescue them
@@greatest_bumble_bee_dude Flashbangs and a whole lotta running lmfao
@Nic777 yeah I don’t even think he’s playing veteran on certain missions. He eats wayyyy to many bullets at certain points for this to be a veteran run. I’m guessing at some point he dropped down to hardened.
@Nic777 the beat the veteran campaign in a couple days, it was very frustrating
@@greatest_bumble_bee_dude. Gotta disagree with that. You can actually get lucky on that one and run past enemies. You can't do that in Heart Of The Reich. I'd also say that Blowtorch And Corkscrew from this game was harder than Mile High Club. This campaign and Black Ops campaign were broken on Veteran. I have Platinum in this one and Black Ops and I've done Mile High Club too. There are no trophies in Cod 4 on Ps3
CoD WaW is like kindergarden full of joy and happiness when it comes to difficulty compared to CoD1
Thank you for playing my favorite COD of all time. Great video!
I’m really glad this game was released back then instead of today. This probably would be “cancelled”, or at least toned down if it came out today. This game made me feel sick and feel bad for all the people i shot down and burned alive with a flamethrower in cold blood, especially with the real cottage of the POW’s and killing.
War is horrible.
War is horrible but that’s the only thing keeping humanity from destroying itself
Lmao no it wouldn't have please stop with this dumb cancel culture bullshit plenty of violent games, games involving killing nazis, and violent games directly meant to make you question the ultra violence in them have been released recently and seen critical praise , no one is coming for your CoD game. And I hate to spoil your nostalgia because you were probably like 11 when this game released but do you know how much insane criticism CoD has gotten for it's violence back in the day too? Like this absolutely got "canceled" by a lot of people
grown ass adults complaining about 2008 being "the good old days" lol you sound like a boomer
Lovin' your reactions to Vet. difficulty and the campaign in general! Cant wait for part 2.
The last time I've seen this campaign was a time I can't even remember. I'm happy to see this.
I really enjoyed this video, can't wait to watch part 2. This is one of my favorite games of all time, played it a million times. it's fun to watch someone else play it for the first time and be challenged and engaged. Closest I can ever get to having the first time experience again
This game was my hardest platin trophy on the PS3 back in the day like damn you coult not leave cover for 1 sec instant death and if you wouldn't move well there was the famous grenade rain xD
Will always love your videos, super underrated and super funny still think this is more difficult then BO3 on realistic
Realistic BO3 could be cheesed relatively easily with a FMJ Thermal Drakon, a self-revive, and all the nice Cyber Cores it gave you. WaW, on the other hand... lol, good luck with the nade spams and sometimes poor visibility.
I CANT BEAT THESE SNIPERS MAN
What do you want me to do, I lost 3 points on my KD because of sniper rifles. It's not fun dood
If you stay in the shadows, and move directly after the muzzle flash, it's makes it significantly easier... doesn't make easy easy, but slightly less infuriating. I did it last month and it only took me 12 minutes to beat.
@@S0ur Why did u just comment that come on dood that 20 dollar PSN money isn't real
Real tawk
"Sniped, sniped, sniped, sniped....HURR DURRR I'M A SNUYPER!"
I like to imagine a guy, in the 1940s, with a bunch of weight in guns, ammo, and equipment jumping around corners pre-firing and drop shotting
Now you need to play Black Ops 1 on Veteran
meh, blops1 is easy compared to waw
@@IllIIIlllIlIIlll just the Vietnam mission and the final mission are a pain to do
The wings quotes during that sniper section. Perfect.
This campaign owns me a mouse and a headset to this day
The first COD I ever played as a kid. Me and an old friend stayed up all night and ran through it together! So much nostalgia!
"im so fucking tired of being sniped!" - wings
didn't expect that cameo lol! good shit
All those wings clips killed me! had to go listen to mr big guy again! man the guy who wrote that was so talented and cool.
Yeah, wonder what he's doing now
@@S0ur The voice was so angelic, the answer is simple. "two chicks at the same time." surely he's not playing through a grenade filled nightmare of a game from 13 years ago.
I'm an achievement hunter, I've done the entire series except Infinite Warfare, you should try the Veteran campaign on Call of Duty Classic
How do you feel playing the first game in the Black Ops story? lol
Just replayed this campaign. One of the best and the cutscenes add so much emotion to it all.
THOSE GRENADES ARE HEAT SEEKING THO 😂
Love how a game from 2008 had a decently dynamic environment wall penetration with guns had a good campaign with good CO-OP.. Shame we don't get more of these nowadays
I recently replayed WAW and I did it on veteran the start of it was easy enough but took a big jump as I got closer to the end
this campaign was my childhood, thank you for this
If the Nazis and Japanese had this many grenades and this good of throwing arms irl then America and Russia probably would’ve lost.
As someone who beat CoD 2 - BO2 on veteran, Heart of the Reich (lvl 14) was the hardest mission of them all. Good luck if you get there
So what’s the hardest cod campaign on veteran?
That mission was a bitch because of the very last part where you rub up the stairs after destroying artillery guns, but corkscrew is still harder in my opinion. Them damn bush Wookiee’s…
When's part 2 coming out? I can't wait!
Its the random on screen edits that make one of most serious cod campaigns funny and enjoyable.
I'm very excited for this! Hopefully you do all the CoD games, much love s0ur
I got stuck on the machine gun nest on the first level and Sullivan screaming “KEEP ON THAT MG!” is burned into my brain.
I was stuck at that part too. I swear I had about 10 grenade indicators on me at all times. I quit shortly after.
i was doing this earlier this week after watching the mw19 realism run, didn't expect this to happen
You have now earned my loyalty and respect completing the campaign on veteran hell difficulty
Did this with self imposed iron skull it took me a while to get through it but was both fun and rage inducing
"You just grazed him" still haunts my dreams to this day
I never noticed that one of the MIA soldiers from the beginning is Pvt. Pyle lol
I really hope they will do a World at War campaign remaster.
This game was some real shit. There really is nothing I want more in terms of the COD empire that we have today than a remaster of World At War's campaign along with Black Op's in one epic veteran experience. Truly a solid gaming experience and one we'll probably never see again quite like it.
would have loved to see this live, ever thought about trying that out for this kinda things?
The memories and the flash back of playing veteran with all grenades throwing at u😭. The memories
Master Wayne what's the point of all those push ups if you cant lift a bloody log that killed me 54:50 😂😂😂 I love this man😂😂
