There are repeated scenes with German tanks and armor in a giant traffic jam that are actual photos of German troops invading France but stalled in a traffic jam for days. The French general refused to believe reports and figured Germany would not attack so far North but would attack the main French defense line. Despite France having the largest modern air force, 70% of planes were not immediately ready to attack. Other scenes showing German motor units driving up hills are repeated. The mix of war film and Hollywood film is interesting.

One of the best TV shows ever. They tried for authenticity with the German's speaking in German and the French speaking in French. That was the best part of it. Unfortunatley, this, and other episodes, show them fighting in mountains. There were no mountains anywhere near Normandy or the rest of the area of France they moved through. They start off with 4 Americans and 5 French men then at 29:47 there are 6 men yet 4 of the french men are dead or ran off and then at 30:00 they are back to only 5 men. Someone forgot to keep track of the bodies.
@@blondbowler8776 Two other commenters above have said this was a conversion for running on wood gas. One of those commenters said engines fueled that way were "dodgy at best" (I think those were his words).
That's a gasification system to cook flammable vapor out of wood. It's not steam. The wood vapor was fed to a carburetor-like system on the engine which ran on the vapor as do natural gas/propane fed engines now.
Unbelievable three of them take out 2 boxes of explosives 🧨. And there’s little John the bigger one out of all of them. He carry’s just one box. Hahaha 🤣
That opening scene made me think. If America was occupied by the British, and the French came to save us.. you're an American civilian leading a patrol of French soldiers to an American officer. You find a local American bringing a cart full of goods - goods bordering on luxury items given the war and the suffering - in the general direction of a British camp. You know some Americans are openly working with the British.. what do YOU do? I say the old man made the right call, all the way down. And best yet that he nabbed the kippers. Always need portable food. If not today, then tomorrow.

Extra loaded mags and boxed or belted (or even bandos of clipped) .30-06 ammo would have been in both their rucks.
Then again Kirby was more of a maniac than any of the others, and he was really infatuated with the BAR, so...
LT: 2kia, 5 trucks Sgt: Caje:4kia Kirby: LJ: 1kia
Good one
They start off with 4 Americans and 5 French men then at 29:47 there are 6 men yet 4 of the french men are dead or ran off and then at 30:00 they are back to only 5 men. Someone forgot to keep track of the bodies.
9:55 Is it just me, is the truck on fire, or is there a wood-burning stove underneath the cab of the truck?
When the truck broke down in daylight you can see it is a stove. I was scratching my head on that one.
Converted to steam. Gas was in short supply. Steam conversions were common, just another note of authenticity.
I kept a lookout for the 'Hollywood' sign, lol!
虽然不听不懂英语,但是且很怀念这套小时候看过的戏,蛮好看的。谢谢上传
9 men and you are only going to keep one pigeon! There in a cage just take all of them.
Let the horse loose.
Or eat it
I agree
Those hills really look like So Calif. in the summer
That's because a lot of it was filmed in SoCal.
It's a good trade. Later, they filmed spaghetti westerns in Italy, Spain, and France!😎
Two of the actors in this also had parts in "The Untouchables'
Unbelievable three of them take out 2 boxes of explosives 🧨. And there’s little John the bigger one out of all of them. He carry’s just one box. Hahaha 🤣
Somewhat interesting that Rick Jason has no " real " Wikipedfia page and seems to be connected as an actor only to this show
look again i found it.... richard jacobson...
@@direwolf6234 Thanks, also under his reel name not the artist´s one
Cool the truck runs on producer gas from wood or what ever would burn.
The producers took literary license, these wood fueled trucks were slow and dodgy as he11.
I admired the Frenchman for his thinking that he more valued his mission than his life.
I have 2 questions if anyone can answer them. 1. What episode did the second Doc appear? 2. What episode did Kirby get his BAR?
start of season 2
That opening scene made me think. If America was occupied by the British, and the French came to save us.. you're an American civilian leading a patrol of French soldiers to an American officer. You find a local American bringing a cart full of goods - goods bordering on luxury items given the war and the suffering - in the general direction of a British camp. You know some Americans are openly working with the British.. what do YOU do?
I say the old man made the right call, all the way down. And best yet that he nabbed the kippers. Always need portable food. If not today, then tomorrow.
the gorn would have survived the rockslide unlike the germans
True but the Captain later would take care of that...
VERY GOD COMBAD BRAVO
I think it's funny that the producers of this show could try to have a mountain in the Mojave desert double as a mountain in France
I think most of scenes for the series was shot in northern California as it has the same landscape as France.
how about the animal that waws left on the road tethered to a cart
+BOYCOTT PC thats what i was thinking
Yea....poor mule. Don't worry, with the food shortage, someone will come along and be grateful to have a mule, cart and all that food.
