Hi, your video is so inviting that I decided to prepare the vegan Flammkuchen. I was sorry not to be able to try this recipe. Thanks you so much for sharing! Greetings from Italy!
Ich liebe flammkuchen! I loved flammkuchen when I was living in Germany. What I do now is making pizzas with pita bread for a similar result (not the same!). But today I am making a "coca" from my childhood.
I just watched your video 50 minutes ago. Now here I am, eating Flammkuchen for the first time. Some issues though. I didn't have 20%+ sour cream, I only had 12, so I had to improvise. I mixed it with some Hellman's mayo, I'm sure it's sacrilege in someone's book, but hey, it got the job done. Topped it with chives and cheese . The most important thing is, don't skimp on the sauce, it really can hold a lot of it. I thought I was generous, and after taking it out of the oven, I realized it could've been better with more sauce. Also, don't be afraid of charring, it tastes great and the dough won't be ready before some edges are a bit charred anyway. Thanks for this great recipe, it's a great snack and a worthwhile replacement for any focaccia, and a healthy(er) alternative to baking myself a pizza at 1 am (while still satiating that pizza craving I get).
i've been looking for a recipe similar to the trader joe's tarte d'alsace & glad i came across this video ! that veggie one would be good with some marinated artichoke hearts , too ! 😋 thanks for sharing this recipe & for the quick history lesson !
It is a very good video. The Turkish Lahmacun is based on the same principle. A very thin dough without yeast. Only the topping is different. But all in all everything on a dough baked in an oven is delicious.
We have a very similar food in Hungary, called Langalló. The dough is close to a bread dough, and the toppings are bacon, sausage, red onions, sheep cheese, sour cream with garlic. We also have another variant, Töki pompos, where the dough contains potatoes. Both of them are a bit thicker than Flammkuchen. :)
Another good one, thank you, I will try this one ... I like your optimistic style, have been watching your channel for quite a while now, and it keeps improving :) keep it up !

always good to have a new insult in the repertoire
"What a f**king schmand!"
"He's such a schmand. Can't stand him."
Try Schmock, sound similar and is an actual Insult :D
"So'n Schmand" is actual german swearing
Schmantig is actually an insult ive been using for a weile. It means something between gross und greasy
@@plt927 actually Schmand is just the German word for sour cream.... I am German and I never heard it as an insult...
Dude respect this a really good food related channel. The history behind all these amazing dishes is fascinating.
I love flammkuchen, but nothing beats a really good pizza imo. Keep up the good work! Lobe ur content. Really looking forward meeting you randomly in the streets of berlin :D
Reminds me of Langos from Hungary. I'm American, but my family has been making it for decades. We bake it, so it's almost like this. We often just have it with butter, but when I visited Budapest last year, they topped it with a variety of ingredients, usually sour cream, like this flammekuche.
As a german person, I approve the concept of Flammkuchen being the new Pizza
my goodness i never heard of this food. Thanks for the video. You speak very well!
ps: after 7 years in Alsace I have never seen one with leeks, or even chivies.
I went to germany en france especially for this dish multiple times. And tonight i'm making the traditional, the salon with rucola (rocket) (but both with cheese aswell) and the applepie-version. Thanks dude!!
"Flammkuchen is more delicious than Pizza!"
Pizza Lovers are gonna rage so hard.
He's dead to me. DEAD TO ME.
I love pizza, but I think I really do like Flammkuchen more. But like everything some variery is nice =)

Can't be angry if I hadn't tried it yet

Also mein lieber Herr Gesangsverein!!! Habe dich ja gerade schon unter deinen Döner Videos gelobt, aber dieses Rezept hier? Der Hammer! Das Beste, was ich je nachgekocht habe! Super Lecker und meine Frau hat es geliebt! Ganz großes Kino! Danke! Danke! Danke! Mach weiter so!
Liebe Grüße aus Japan!
Make something dutch, like a kapsalon👌🏼

Kebab chips n cheese
@@mynameisandong its truly amezing
Had Flammekuche on holiday in Riquewihr and it was amazing! It has become my staple homemade "pizza"
As someone who speaks French, German and English, I can say that French (especially talking about food) sounds like you're getting ready for a heavy lovemaking session, while German (talking about most anything, but especially food) sounds like you're getting angry about whose turn it is to take out the garbage. Love this video, Andong!
Du machst mich so hungrig!
Flammkuchen is so delicious.AND YES MORE DELICIOUS THAN PIZZA!!1!11
no flammkuchen sucks almost made me puke when i tried it!!
I am a german girl i dont like Flammkuchen i love Pizza
@@ek9750 Where did you get it ?
I was surprised Flammkuchen is so easy to make, so I had to try. One, it turned out delicious. Two, you were right on with the time: 45 minutes after I started, the edges began to brown
ne geile version von flamkuchen ist mit gorgonzola wallnuss und birne
Andong, I recently moved to Germany (for a month now) from Italy, and one of the first things I tasted was Flammkuchen. The Germans have converted me and I prefer that to pizza. Also I'm so glad I found your channel, I love your content and you're making me want to cook a lot more often
Now i know what i gonna cook these days. Usually i buy readymade dough or ready made flammkuchen. But i gonna try your recipe for a change. Gonna make it vegan.
I went to this wine bar once, and pretty sure I had this "flame cake." It was super delicious and I didn't know what type of "pizza" it was?! Flammkuchen! Thx for the video!
On english please
„Flämcake"
Jk bro, really nice Video
Best part of the Christmas market season on the French German border, flammkuchen and gluhwein.

American UA-cam Algorithm: wait a minute... who are you?
I ate this in Strasbourg and Colmar. This is nice and well worth a try. A nice alternative to Italian pizza.
I've always been interested into knowing more about Flammkuchen since my trip to Strasbourg, a long time ago. Thanks a lot for this video! I'll surely try it at home!
Really cool explaned what Flammkuchen is and how you make it :D You have a really good german :D with no accent and than i see you are german :). Ha super gemacht. Now i have to test myself Flammkuchen with your different choices. Really good video. Greetings from Ulm, South Germany
Been doing Flammkuchen for over a year, adapted the recipe a little to suit my taste, one of the easiest and yet most delicious dinners there is. Garlic instead of nutmeg is a must.
You’re so cute at 0:25 haha! and I love that you always describe historical background before you show how to make it. Btw nice neon sign you got in the background :)
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! WONDERFUL!
Bonjour 👋🏻
I am coming exactly from the Region Alsace in France.
So I can confirm that your video is following le original recipe.
Only the “ leek “ is not used in the traditional recipe but it is a detail.
Great video and great introduction of the history of this tart from Alsace
À bientôt 👋🏻
Thank you!!!!!!! Many years ago on vacation with my wife in Zurich we stumbled on a Flame Cake at a random restaurant, we felt in love and never tried it again.
I’m on it!
You germans and your Schmand, next time i visit germany i have to try it, in austria you cant find this stuff and thanks for the great video, i will try it, your fried rice was a game changer and i kinda have the feeling this Flammkuchen will be also a fine addition to our menu
I had an amazing flammkuchen in Essen a couple of years ago, relatively the same as the one you’re making first, but they added white grapes, which made it the best flammkuchen I have ever eaten
Thanks! Great video!
I am from Alsace, I left a few months ago for England, and I MISS Tarte Flambée !!! Q.Q And Bretzels and all the local food, i'm glad you made this video (and others) that just got recommended to me, i'll have to find a way to made some here!
You are funny. I am going to try different versions. Thanks Andong.
Im glad i stumbled across this video, i had this while at a fantasy event in europe and loved it :D now i can make it mysself!
Very funny and well explained. Congratulations!
thanks for sharing this recipe & for the quick history lesson !
I'll be making this! Thanks Andong
