    This is a fascinating video on a very iconic radio. I have the iStream 3L, in black, which I hope will be the first of many.

    What a great collection you have, thank you for the history lesson. I've a RD70 and have just purchased the Istream 3. The appeal for me is they are UK made and the sound quality is good enough for me.

They have excellent build quality, sound reproduction, and a timeless style. Roberts also has excellent UK backup, with a parts and repair service. Enjoy your radios.

      @@radiowyn1703 The pleasure is all mine. Can I ask a question. If you could only have one radio what would it be?

      @@andy84251 That's a tough one! When it comes down to radios I'm greedy. If I was pushed to only one set, it would be a Bush VTR103. This was our family radio in the 1960s and I still have it. Classic Ogle design with the oversize perspex tuning dial and having the advantage of VHF. If I had a second choisce, I told you I was greedy. It would be the Philips Original Radio ORT7500, a modern DAB set with Bluetooth in my collection. What would yours be?

    • @andy84251
      @andy84251 5 місяців тому

      @@radiowyn1703 The Bush VTR103 was an absolute classic. Great choice. I can't get on with DAB - I don't like the slow response on sets or the rather binary quality. That said the Philips ORT7500 is lovely looking. I've a few Roberts sets from the 70s through to the early 90's but my favourite is the HMV 2158 as the sound quality is first class and it was handed down to me from grandfather. I also like my Roberts RP28 as its great to switch stations so quickly.

    • @radiowyn1703
      @radiowyn1703  5 місяців тому

      @@andy84251 I haven't come across the HMV2158 before. Wonderful that yours is a family radio handed down to you from your grandfather, that makes it extra special. I agree regarding DAB, they can be a little awkward in tuning with the delay and are already out of date with the introduction of Internet radio. Analog radio is much better, so easy to tune, and has much better sound reproduction. Roberts made some excellent sets. I have an RP28 with the presets. I often think about where the future is for radio, not as many radios on the shelf at my local Currys. Hopefully, FM continues. I use Bluetooth on my Philips, and the sound reproduction is amazing.

    Another great video , I have bit of collection of Robets radio old to new including a valve one , 550 in green faux leather revival , and blue 250 in real leather , others I have in rexine , it’s interesting that the radios I bought didn’t have the gold ring on the knobs they came out after my ones , the 550 Ser no 312804, the 250 is 002697, that one petty early , these radios not vintage as I said got ones going back to 50s which are my vintage radios . Regards mark

      Thank you again, and for sharing your serial numbers. It seems you are like me when it comes to Roberts and have quite a collection. What is your valve set? There seem to be a few little changes on the R250 through production. The brass inserts came late in production. Cheers

      @@andy84251 I have been thinking the same. I have seen some PP9 replica batteries that hold 6AA, or you could purchase a basic 6 AA battery holder. Wilkos was a great place to buy batteries.

      Hello, you have an early set. They are quite rare to find with the swivel base. Thank you for sharing the serial number; it is very close to my 3826. It was most likely made in the same week.
