My wife has had 7 GSDs one at a time in her lifetime. Our current one's father was a black PTSD shepherd a veteran brought back from Germany. The mother was American. Sent his DNA off to Embark, came back 100 percent shepherd. I agree 100 percent with this video. Lokee is head and shoulders above the previous shepherds. Not sure how many words he knows, but, it's a lot. He is going to break two hearts in a few years. Giving him all the supplements recommended by GS Man. Thanks for all the dos and don't you have shown us with your videos.❤

I have two GSD's that are 6 years apart but come from the same parents. The new guy, Odin is 10 months old and while he picks up on stuff on his own, he doesn't seem to take as quickly to training. But it doesn't surprise me as some people are more intelligent than others even in the same families.

My current GSD, a American purebred rescue is, I have to say, not the sharpest knife in the drawer intellectually. However, she may be the most emotionally intelligent dog I've ever owned, with an uncanny understanding of the needs of sick or disabled family members. She's quiet when she needs to be, and protective when the situation merits. Oh, and she's beautiful, and extraordinarily healthy. Thanks for your channel and its outstanding educational content!

My GSD is purebred and only 1 and half years old but he picks up on things very fast. Not just obedience training but he seems to predict what I will do/happen next. He will look at me like he is analysing my face. He also seems to understand my sentences and when im going for walks its like I have a person with me, understanding but cannot speak back. Im thinking he may have an android brain 🤔 I love him so much ☺️

My GSD is not perfect (born an Anorchid) but he is a German GSD. Yes, oh boy, he is super smart. I suppose it helped to give him Omega 3 and a raw diet from a few days from when I brought him home. Now at 4 years of age I am still teaching him new things and he loves it. He amazes us with his intelligence and he is definitely super smart. What a Dog!

I live in EU. 25 yeas ago on my small street were living 5 GS, at the neighbors. I assed them as smart based on my daily experience while walking. They were very confident dogs, and never challenging me. I felt safe as a neighbor. For me they looked as thinking dogs, which think before act. Of course I did not approach them , did not talk to them. I respected them and they respected me. Later to my home also came GS working line, smart, loyal, and very energetic. It was a big challenge as we did not have experience with GS, and such high drive dogs. She passed after 11 years but you can not forget such personalities and now I am convinced that we fit together some how, although she came to us as puppy, by accident as the previous owner could not handle such energy. For me the most important in dogs is balance of mind, willingness to work with human, generally speaking, that they like human company.

If GSDs were fabric, my Rudy was the Hero. Rudy was remarkable in disposition, color, and presence. Her father was in Germany, and that is where she was conceived. She, along with her mother and 10 siblings, were abandoned at a horse farm in North Carolina in the sandhills. (The dam was bred to a German registered sire by her owners who were both American soldiers who split up soon after returning to the states.) I got her free, only required to pay for her spay operation at an animal hospital nearby. Her size was intimidating yet she was gentle enough and careful to be left keeping a watchful eye on my toddler. Rudy was strictly an outside dog, which made her sense of protection that much greater, but that might be a matter of opinion. She never had to bark because she was never challenged, and never growled that I can remember. People had sense back then and didn't want to find out. Her herding abilities were strong; I taught her the word "hawk" and she would look up, running with eyes locked on and that is all it took to send the raptor grocery shopping elsewhere, leaving behind the several various flocks of birds that I kept as a hobby for another day that never came.
I cherished her partly because she came from Germany, and I felt gifted to be her family. I later acquired her mother, an American registered GSD, and although I never really bonded with her, she was loved just as much. These were my last GSD's.

My Shepherd is a mix of American show lines and German working lines. She has strong drive, high intelligence, and sweet temperament. OFA hips and elbows. Was going to be shown and bred from till her breeders health began to fail, and she had to reduce her program. We bought her, had her spayed per the breeders request, and are enjoying her as a dear pet!

I agree. My shepherd's father was from Germany. Had to send him to boot camp for two weeks at 5 months old. Told the trainer not sure I want a German German Shepherd. Might want a lazy American German Shepherd.😊 He came back a new dog. 6 and half years later, he is the best dog we have ever had in our 60 plus years on earth.

Yes GSD's are intelligent but you can make them even more intelligent but the more you make them think the better off you'll be. Make them Think.

These days if you are breeding dogs & your dogs to not have all of their OFAs at a minimum... you have no purpose to be breeding these animals.
