I think this is still the best Civ, and I love watching people play it, but I'm terrible at playing it myself despite putting a lot of hours into it. Looking for Civ IV LPs got me into your channel all those years ago and I love seeing you come back to it.
@@Christophee1987 I had an Amiga 500 and played civ 1 on it. I swear to you, civ V vox populi is the best civ experience ever. (i was a big fan of civ IV to put into contrast) You won't regret installing it (easy to do) I just love how the war AI will guard its worker units. Wont cross oceans in front of ranged fire. Will focus fire. Will rotate injured units. I can only compete at the emperor level but only at King can i be sure of a win. The ai is that good.
@@TheBelrick Nice. I can win Civ V on deity, but I've only done so with a few civs and I've been testing myself with a few others recently. Maybe I'll switch to VP instead though. For someone who is comfortable with deity, what level would you recommend starting with on VP?

Civ 5 was where I started with Civ, and it's still my fave, and I can totally relate to it being your comfort game because mine is five. So this is my first exposure to 4. ITS WILD. there's bears?! food is toast? it's squares?
It's only hard for those who are not used to it. I was a kid when it was released and like anyone else at the time, after a few dozens of hours it was just as easy as any game in the franchise (bar Alpha Centauri, maybe). Plus, a lot of the "difficulty" in old games comes from unclear/undocumented rules. So people would just struggle to understand what was going on. But the exploits were also a lot worse. In Civ4 you can trade techs with the AI for instance - nothing in 5 or 6 come even close to that.
Love to see more of my favourite Civ game. Though I would still love to see a Caveman2Cosmos playthrough (maybe on a map with space zones?) at some point.

Quill isn't that good at civ 6 either - but he beats deity on a regular basis :) Even though I no longer play civ 4 myself, I love seeing civ 4 as well as 5 or 6 from your hand. Nostalgia is just better with you so keep it coming!
Civ 6 is not a real game. Its a mobile apps aimed at millenials who at least learnt how to use a mice but never learnt the power of games that could be lost. No one ever loses a Civ 6 game, it is that trash.

Checking this out after the teaser for Civ 7. Hopefull it takes more from Civ 4 and 5 rather then 6. Civ 6 was never terrible, but out of those three games it was the one I put the least amount of time into.
Yeah moving the scoot one step at the time is usually better. But not everybody has the patience for that. Especially not when one doesn't like to bore the viewers.
Yes always here for the cIV connect. Always a banger for me! I hope you won't push again for the "optimal" placement of cities since overlap only really starts to be problematic when your cities get to over like 15 pop.
Civ 4 was not my favorite, but it was incredibly good for sure. To be fair though, my favorite is likely controversial and might get me booed on here a bit, Civilization Revolution. Yes, it was streamlined and does play much quicker, but it was incredibility approachable because of that. So much so that it actually got my brothers and cousins on board back in the day. Those multiplayer games are some of my best Civilization memories as we had some epic Tall vs Wide end game wars :)
I have a similar thing with the Final Fantasy series! Six is my favorite as it was the first one I ever played, so long ago that it was on the SNES when it was still called FF3 because... America is weird I guess!
I'm assuming that the music was coming through the Custom music folder option that can be found in the Sound tab. It is that option alone that makes this my favorite Civ game, as none of the other Civ games have it.
I need to load the game up and check, but I'm fairly certain that builders give an amount of work towards an improvement based on the number of moves left. That means the Indian fat worker is faster at improving as well. (Some rounding may cause it to be irrelevant in some situations)
Civ5 is probably the worst game in the main series. It certainly was at launch, with how barebones it is, and even now you kinda need to use mods to make it a worthwhile experience. Which doesn't mean that it's a bad game, and it was a necessary step in the series. But it had a lot of unrefined mechanics, it took itself way too seriously and it aged worse than any other civ game.

Best civ is Civ V vox populi. Mostly because it has an AI better than most players. (do which it had unit stacking though)

Noble is the most equal difficulty, AI gets advantages on prince already :)
Polytheism and Monotheism is pronounced differently, but otherwise love Civ IV gameplay, thx for doing these once in a while...
