    Question: What’s the best way to handle selling music DTC for iPhone users? Android users can just download right on their phones and import to the music library, but with iPhones you have the extra step of needing a computer to sync your music library.

      We need an independent player that actually has a decent UI and can open zip file bundles. I’d be up for making it but would need help with Swift coding as that’s not really my language. It’s a ton of work though and it would have to be essentially freeware.

    The old fashion way still works. 2 songs at a time, just like a single, side A, and side B. Contrast. THE Trademark is far more Powerful than a Copyright. Both are a Dynamic Duo! Would like to hear more about Distrokid.Please Stay on Top of...Distopian-Kid. 'I was so smart, I sent a stupid email', Maxwell Fart. "Now is All we have, always has been, and Now Wins!" I was sleeping over in a Apartment on Mission Blvd, San Diego, I awakened to a Bumper Sticker in front of my face...
    it read..."Keep It Simple Stupid".
    🍀CHEERS!

    Good suggestions,as usual. We give the song up for free... from a website that sells them a super cool t-shirt or decals. Or vinyl. Or prints. Or...etc

    We uploaded our song with some licensed motion graphics to Instagram. It was removed due to a copyright claim by Sony Music. We scratched our heads trying to figure out what connection Sony had to anything. Then we learned of Sony’s acquisition of Tunecore. It appears that if we release a song through Tunecore we can’t upload it ourselves! Have you heard of this?

    • @Tony_Westcliff
      @Tony_Westcliff Місяць тому

      Probably in the TuneCore ToS. Which you have agreed to. This is literally what a ToS is for. Why are you asking a third party?

    • @nemesisjuggernaut7920
      @nemesisjuggernaut7920 Місяць тому +2

      @@Tony_Westcliff Sorry, Dad, I’ll make sure not to discuss concerns with third parties. The Tunecore TOS is long and somewhat vague or unclear on certain items. I personally didn’t sign us up with Tunecore, our other guitarist did without my knowledge. I otherwise would have objected due to their shady and predatory practices. We will be working with Bandcamp going forward, and limit our interaction with TC and Spotify.

    I love this idea! I used to release music every once in a while when I could afford to pay cd baby for such things as distribution, publishing etc… only to make Pennies off on the backend. I got so frustrated and thought why even release anything as I am spending more to release then what they return. I like the idea of posting for free directly to your circle and then can donate if they wish but how do you expand your reach especially when if you don’t have a publisher you basically invisible anyways? I would like to do all of this stuff on my own eventually but what if it doesn’t make sense right at the moment to get all the licensing etc? Sincerely asking.

    Good day to you, 2 questions. for example if i am using the lyrics from the hook only of miss crystal song monster, do i need a cover license even though i am not covering the whole song? Next question, Can you do a video on single song deal? Everybody talk about record deal meaning an album or multiple albums but nobody talk about single deals. I am a producer, an artist and an aspiring record label so you can explain from those vantage points. Thank you.

    Thank you for all the knowlegde you offer..Helps a lot! Can you upload 20-30 seconds of your song through a distributor to a platform and post a link on your platform page to your own page for the full stream or download?

      @lamonteasterjr Місяць тому +1

      I had thought of that too, to still utilize the streaming platforms until they get stomped out lol without fully supporting them

    UA-cam defines itself as a "Publisher". Can you explain what that means when you upload an original song to UA-cam? To me this would indicate they COULD sell your song to another(like for a Kia car commercial) but how would You the Artist get paid for that? Am I wrong here?

    What the F is this I'm reading in my distributors upload instructions: "Please remove all embedded metadata from the audio files before submitting the release. Partners do not process the metadata through the file." So if DSPs strip all Metadata including ISRC codes, how the F do they know who to pay?

    How do you get out of a BMI publisher and writer account when you switched to ASCAP, sent the appropriate letters to BMI but they refuse to respond? So your stuck in BMI hell.
