This is legit the burliest most well thought out and built rack I've ever seen. Seeing them in the Specialized booth at Sea Otter I was super impressed. The guys from RIG'd are super cool as well.
My one up seems at least as stable as this. My GF got a Quickr which is also nice. Too bad you didn’t demonstrate the pivot. My biggest gripe is access to the hatchback. Lots of cantilevered weight to lower and lift with two bikes mounted.
Great video, I've ordered the long stinger Ramblerack with add on and a Rambleswing for my van. I am going from a 1-up and was looking for something more sturdy; Rig'd was recommened by some other van owners. You mentioned something about a maybe a "locking pin"? Does this come with the ramblerack or is this an additional accessory? While I wait on my delivery I found your video while searching for something to lock my bike to the rack while I go for breakfast say. Edit: saw the locking method here ua-cam.com/video/XKIIp8XrDIs/v-deo.html
Thanks for the great review! I pretty sure I'm going to pick up their RambleSwing for my Jeep Wrangler... but I'm also looking for a strong rack too for the 2 ebikes that I just purchased, they weigh around 67 to 70 LBS. based on your review, it looks like the stablizer bar clamp should be 90 degree to the front wheel and these ebikes have fenders which will probably offset the angle to 80 to 75 degrees. Do you think that'll work or should I go with the 1UP or Quikr racks? Thoughts? Thanks!
Rad! Not sure if you saw the clip of my 1UP in this video but I’d never recommend that rack to anyone. My bikes slapped together and hit my truck no matter how hard I tightened the arms. Reach out to rigd about the fenders they’ll get ya dialed
Damn I wish I had seen this video when I was buying my rack. Although I have no idea what is up with your 1up. Mine does not move at all, I would even say it is on par with your RiGd one. I think they might have updated the design as mine does not match yours.
Unless they've made some sort of huge design change I don't see how your bikes don't hit each other. The design itself allows the front tire to wiggle side to side because there's no wheel chock on the backside of the tire no matter how hard you crank those arms.
it probably helps but after scratching a couple very expensive bikes because they move so much I got rid of that rack a long time ago in favor of a thule T2 and now this.
@@brakeforsnakes I gotcha, whatever works for you. We all have different needs. Fwiw, I strap the front and rear on my 1up if I'm going long distance, highway or offroad. Has worked great for years.
@@brakeforsnakes I can’t seem to find it,I’d like to see it though. I’ve only used Thule and 1up. Te Thule rusted out on me and the 1up equip has been good for the last 4years
@@brakeforsnakes damn, can’t believe I missed that part! After seeing that, I’m glad I chose the equit one. The original 1up looks flimsy, the one I got is pretty solid.
They (1-UP) have an updated version they showed at sea-otter. Either way, selling my 1up since I now shuttle 5+ bikes often and getting the Bike E-Rack powered vertical rack. At least we have good choices between this, 1UP, Quikr, Alta, Velocirax and Bike E-Rack now....

My man
Such s bummer about the van Jim. Unreal that this is happening right after you got the pop top installed.
Hey you really deserver more subscribers. Nice production value here.
Thank you!
Completely agree. RIG’d makes the best hitch mount bike rack on the market.
Wish more people knew this! Criminally underrated piece of gear
You're welcome about hooking you up with J&S, just giving you Sheeeeesh! Keep up the updates dude!

Go to 2:04 and see how stable my 1up was full cranked down
I've seen this rack and am considering it for my overland build. Will it work with their swing out tire carrier?
Yup I’ve ran it on my van
Both UltraSwing and RambleSwing.

What if the tire goes flat - slow leak that you didn’t notice after a ride?
Your bike would still be there

1up has a wheel choke add-on now on their website
how does the pivot mechanism work?
Remove a pin and flip it up or down
Looks like a decent rack but I just got the newest Thule EPOS and imo it's better on and off the vehicle....
Apples to oranges. This rack is designed for heavy Offroad use and isolating the bike to bike movement
@brakeforsnakes you can rhink what you want but your rack does not compare....
And your rack is huge when not in use
I’ve seen and been around both racks have you?
@@brakeforsnakes no don't need to, I've seen enough videos on it to know.
Lol that’s pretty dumb you should really try and see/use all the options before going on UA-cam acting like you know 😂
A simple strap around the front wheel and the tray on the 1up eliminates a ton of movement. Sort of like the straps on this bike rack does. But ymmv

Looks like a beefier industrial version of my Thule T1. How heavy is this?
It’s definitely beefier and way better built that you’re Thule. I’ve never weighed it but they’re not light I’d check RIGDs website
From RIG’d (I asked them): 46 pounds for the single. Not sure about this new pivot version which probably adds a couple pounds.
Nice rack but not for fenders
Not sure what you mean the rack doesn't touch the front fender unless you have one of those ridiculous full front wheel fenders
I thought the 1up was the best
Def not did you see the video of it I included?

You just remove the front wheel and your bike is gone.
That’s true of any bike rack without a cable lock whether from a Thule or whatever
There is a welded bracket not shown in the vid that you can pass a cable lock through. The rack itself accommodates locking hitch pins.
