    Showed this to an Iranian friend 13 years ago when he hardly understood English. This movie helped him to make a decision to follow Christ. So even if you don't get the version in a language for someone, show them this version. God can still speak to the person's heart.

      +Taiwo Olalekan , Dear Taiwi, thank you for taking time to send a comment on our film Pilgrim's Progress. The message we intended you to understand was that Jesus Christ took my place and died for me, not only did He die but He has given me His righteousness and now I stand before God without sin and the salvation He purchased with His blood has cleansed me from all sin and because he suffered I will not have to suffer.
      I trust these thoughts ail help you to seek God's incredible Salvation.
      If I can help you more please just ask me.
      Sincerely in Christ Jesus.

      God is truely wonderful.
      He gave us toads that make you trip if you lick them.
      He gave us Poison Hemlock that looks a lot like wild carrots (Queen Ann's lace,yarrow) so that we might die and be with him sooner.
      He told us how to beat our slaves and force a rape victim to marry her rapist.

    I bought a copy of this book 40 years ago thinking it was about Pilgrims - once I started reading I realized it wasent what I expected so I set it aside for many years. It was brought to my attention at some point so I gave it another try - glad I did. If your ready to read and embrace its message, it becomes one of the most significant reads of a life time. I hope others will find it and experience the same rewards as Pilgrim found on his journey & one I was fortunate enough to experience as well.

    Thank you for your comment, when the film was developed Ken thought that viewers needed to learn who Bunyan really was and how he had written this book. He took the camera crew to Bedford and London and shot the introductory footage there. He was a good friend of Bev Shea and he got him to agree to do the opening narration.

    Thank you so much for sharing this. You are an answer to prayer. Pilgrim's Progress and the Bible were the first textbooks used in America's public schools. We have FALLEN and are paying the price. The United States and England once looked to God for direction. They listened to the lies of Satan and now are spiraling down. I like the end when Christian is holding the shield with the cross of St. George. That was flag was planted in the sand at what is now Va Beach in 1607.

No struggles with suicide in Doubting Castle? No crossing of Jordan? I'm sorry, these are serious story-theme failures that indicate the filmmakers may not have even understood major points in Bunyan's story. I hope viewers will take the time to read the book, many times over, to dig deep into Bunyan's masterpiece of allegory.

    Vanity Faire
    In the verdant pasture
    was I proud
    with my wholly courage mound
    Until the boisterous bellows of urban fellows
    broke the mountain of sapphire sheen
    in horrid, but beautiful things.
    My heart then became beguiled in jewels;
    in marvel'd treachery,
    all that shimmers,
    joyous glimmers.
    As dust besets my mirth;
    where wiles despicable are;
    may i churn this earth
    with gaiety strung.
    As heartless within my heathen charm;
    started such lecherous chambers,
    And I to a vexings did indolent slumber-
    slept in the sound of sinful arms
    Amorous chorus did begin in me
    as cravings became my vicious pride;
    and each fruit, a forum to lovingly meet
    to teach my face such love to decree
    But lost myself to the barren life
    as principles true did i laugh and snide.
    For vanity turned into my fervent lover,
    and I, a slave, towed and tethered.
    As I solemly, slavenly, giveth my spirit to that wonder which is to sire our world-the prince of the power of the air.
    Sayeth all men without a care;
    or wire that might banner truth to dare
    to defy the facile, half-hearted sighs
    of leisure
    For any man who stokes a fire, like desire
    without goodness in his heart, shall never
    perspire

    Not the most accurate version of Pilgrim's Progress and there are many other versions of part 1 as well; although, if I I were to compare this to Christiana (part 2) with Liam Neeson this first one seems to be more accurate to the book than part 2 despite the fact both films were probably low budget and the fact that part 1 jumps around a lot by adding scenes that were not originally found in the book such as not adding Apollyon and the Valley of the Shadow of Death for example until near the end of the movie instead of including it earlier or the flatterer with the net originally taking place later instead of before reaching Vanity Fair. Also, disappointing as well that there was no arrow scene at the Wicket Gate and a massive gap between the cross and Christian meeting up with Faithful as well. Also, the last thing I would like to point out is that it is understandable as to why 60 to 70 minutes may be difficult to film, because in reality the Pilgrim's Progress would have needed to be more like 90 to 120 minutes long to have the most accurate representation of the book.

    The Wizard of Oz, written in 1900, is a mockery of this movie, the Pilgrim's Progress, written in 1678. Glory and Praise be to God in the name of Jesus Christ!

    How many times were the name of Jesus Christ mentioned in this movie and the original novel?
    Because NOONE can be saved without the Jesus Christ the Savior.

    He felt that ringing the church bell was sinful because he enjoyed it so much? That is the kind of messed up self-guilt that religion causes. Really sad.

    That rather depends on whether the Bible is true or not. I can give you the reasons why I believe the Bible to be true and the theories of evolution and Big Bang to be lies.
    But then, do you want to hear them?

    What a crock of shit! Nothing like the original story. This book deserves a better film making of it. Bring on Peter Jackson or Guillermo Del Toro. PP is one of my favorite books ever and this does it no justice at all.
