    Reminds of my days with BT. We were running data cables in a court building and my mate calls for a hand to find a cable in a pipe chase that hadn’t appeared where he expected. He was in the floor above me, rattling the cable to give me a clue where it was. I couldn’t hear or see anything, until I glanced out of the window and saw the cable hanging outside, dangling over the heads of pedestrians. He’d got his measurements a bit wrong :)

    1:30 these aren't "vibration loops", these are measuring loops, specifically made so you can easily put a clamp meter through them. You should start making these yourself, they make fault finding so much easier.

    • @rcv78
      @rcv78 3 роки тому +16

      In the Netherlands those loops aren't allowed anymore because all the loops create induction. You may create a curve out, but no loops.

    • @moodophile
      @moodophile 3 роки тому +1

      Indeed, and the recessed board would point to a continental type installing this. I’ve only ever seen them on red (3ph) commando/ceeform sockets sockets though.

    • @cbcdesign001
      @cbcdesign001 3 роки тому +1

      We use them in industrial panel din rail terminations, service loops we call them. But yes, very useful for clamp meter measurements.

    • @vambo1980
      @vambo1980 3 роки тому

      It's just a service loop. It's there to help you yet it gets critiqued.

    • @HH-zi5li
      @HH-zi5li 3 роки тому +1

      I think the basic reason here is the clamp metre aswell as leaving a bit of slack for the next guy🤔

    Cory you don’t use the electricians scissors ✂️ that way. The side without the strippers on it goes on your ring finger the other loop is manipulated with your pinky and the palm of your hand. Allowing you to use your thumb to hold the wire in place on the two stripping locations, and as an added bonus you don’t even have to put the scissors down when you’re using them, just drop them to the back side of your hand. Get caught being a Data guy putting your scissors back in the holster or down when you’re working and your nickname will be “part time” or “Christmas” or “New Year’s”.
    Thanks for always keeping it lite and fun!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    Did you need to install RCD protection at the board or was the depth of the NYY-J more than 50mm from both faces of the wall? Lovely install, I appreciate how hard some of these domestic jobs can be with finding cable routes that don’t look atrocious! 👏🏻

    If you were modify your long drill by drilling a hole behind the carbide tip of the drill and use it to pull back the cable.
