    LOL Definitely not dead. He got his heart transplant a year ago. He has a 6 month old, he's working full time and plays golf once a week. Hopefully, he will find some time to put a new video up soon.

    I can't express how much you have calmed my crazy nerves. My father is currently being consulted by a team of doctors at Henry Form Hospital in downtown Detroit and his heart is only putting out 10%, just like you he could barely walk to a bathroom. He is 76 years old and I made the mistake of watching the video of how the LVAD heart surgery is performed and it scared me because he is so weak I was fearful he was not strong enough to withstand such an invasive surgery. THANK YOU for both videos. They were both extremely informative and have put a bit my mind at ease. I hope it is as successful for my father as it has been for you.

    Hi Richard,
    Thanks for making this video! My husband is still recovering from his LVAD surgery in Dec & is just starting to feel 'more normal' again & this video was an inspiration!
    We have found that for my husabnd a fly fishing vest has worked better for him than the thoratec vest because it gives him more support and doesn't cut into his shoulder muscles so much.
    Thanks again... Gina & Dean

      Nobody would rather die! HE is a VERY BRAVE MAN for this decision. LVAD is not right for people who CANNOT HAVE A HEART TRANSPLANT.

    • @maggiec2054
      @maggiec2054 7 років тому

      Well if you like a little more time on earth with quality, LVAD is the only option besides heart transplant for people with End stage heart failure fully awake alert conscious and need a little more time in their life to settle and iron out some things first before passing away and they could not do that because of severe shortness of breath. LVAD in itself is a palliative treatment too. It requires going under the knife, the procedure also has it's own risk. Then waking up and post care has it's regimen too. But if you are at peace with the creator and ready to just pass away quietly, then you actually are going to give your insurance or your government a favor by them not spending anymore money in your behalf and opt for hospice care which can make your passing more quickly and peaceful. The choice is up to a person with end stage heart disease. Everyone is entitled to make their choice.

    • @maggiec2054
      @maggiec2054 7 років тому

      Jolly roger I'm actually responding to Jon Jones that people are entitled to make their choice with regards to LVAD. The LVAD is a bridge while waiting for a heart donor, it gives people some quality of life instead of being so short of breath. Some people die with LVAD and some are fortunate to get rid of the LVAD and have heart transplant. Anyway What ever is their choice as one of the nurses we end up taking care of all of them.

    hi, you look good! I want to know how to adjust the flowrate of the LVAD? When you are in slight exercises, does the LVAD provide the same flow as you are in sleeping? if so, do you have any uncomfortable feelings because the device may not provide sufficient flow? What's more, do you have any other uncomfortable feelings in the daily life?

    My brother is in surgery right now for an LVAD. It seems like he started having heart problems after he quit smoking. He's only 33. Thin, in shape...other than the enlarged heart all of the sudden. Did you smoke? Work in a chemical plant?

    WATCHTOWER777..Maybe you can stop being so judgemental. If you wouldn't get it that's your choice. These people chose it because the alternative was most likely death. They wanted to live.

    • @719kai719
      @719kai719 7 років тому

      Jolly roger Why don't you take your negative miserable azz elsewhere? Its a personal decision and if a person decides to get one why is that your business? However long it extends a persons life it is still their choice...If you find yourself facing this choice do what you feel is best for you, and allow others to do what's best for them.

    • @Who63
      @Who63 7 років тому

      Miserable because my husband died at 54. So your right.

    • @719kai719
      @719kai719 7 років тому

      Jolly roger Listen sorry for your loss but I still don't understand why you are putting down other peoples choices...Do they not have the right to make that choice for themselves? I'm sure that they explain the procedure and device as well as give the possible risks...including risk of failure. Some people who have the device and made videos on UA-cam seem to be doing well with it..Some eventually got a heart transplant and this kept them going until then. Others say that the device actually strengthened their own heart and eventually they were able to have it removed. I have also heard of someone's device malfunctioning ( not sure what went wrong exactly with it) and person did pass after years of congestive heart failure. Anything is possible I suppose.

    • @Who63
      @Who63 7 років тому

      I would NEVER put down someones choice for this. It is very good if getting a HEART TRANSPLANT even if you may suffer the side effects of it. I have had EXPERIENCE with this, seeing my loved one DECLINE it because he could NOT have the transplant because he also had thyroid cancer and you must be free of cancer for 5 years. I don't agree with the 'free of cancer' bit and he was a handsome young 54 year old man who CHOSE to come home therefore declining it because as I said above before you all jumped down my throat, he could NOT get a transplant. Understand? I did not like the fact the only OTHER alternative was to come home and die. The LVAD is good as a BRIDGE TO A TRANSPLANT. That's it.

  • @lilmsdrummer
    @lilmsdrummer 11 років тому

    Wow, I guess that would be the least of one's worries if their heart is failing. I truly hope that he gets a donor heart soon. That seems terrible though because someone has to die for that to happen. I can't wait for the day that organ replacements are available through technology and anyone won't have to wait and die waiting for a match. It will be like going to a store and picking out your kidney, liver heart, lungs, etc.
