Inherited one from my grandfather and it works perfectly even after he used it back when he lived in the jungles of Africa from God knows when, rest his soul he is 89
it has an internal iron core wound antenna, which is usually AM, and the external telescoping antenna, I assume FM. Which one is is for SW1/SW2? I get no reception, wanted to try to improve that part of it.
I found one of these at goodwill for $4. The battery is a bit tired tho and needs replaced. But a few cranks it'll last a little bit but nowhere as long as it should (seen a video of it getting 4 minutes of play time from 10 seconds of fast cranking, when i fast crank for 10 seconds i get a little over two minutes of play time). The only thing it should have really had was NOAA weather frequencies. A solar panel would have been a nice addition so you could set it into the sun and let it charge a bit without having to crank, or just run it from solar power.
If you're going to demo a radio wouldn't you do it in a place where the reception is good? I have an fr-200 and it functions far better than you've shown it here.
It would be nice to do that, but the basement is a better place to record the videos. Plus, I'm not aiming for maximum reception, and say as much. As long as all the demos are taking place in the same location, you can still compare and contrast. BTW, the reception of that radio was far better than most others.
I have one I’d like to see a updated version have the classic look but with digital tuning and a brighter led light why they didn’t put a back light so u can see as u tuning in the analog stations in the dark is beyond me I also would to have a splash proof design for light to moderate rain

I had one as a teen, and remember my grandfather's radio shack
No idea why I started thinking about it again

Nice 📻👍
They are now sold as TECSUN GR 88 P !!!!
I have one that I bought about 20 years ago.
I have one...somewhere. I was never real impressed with the battery. Other than that, it worked well.
I have this exact same radio
Horrible AM.
God help you if you need to use that radio in a real emergency. Horrible.
If you have the original version, it's a great radio. I've had one for many years. It's great.
