    Sushi leaving Eskimo Callboy was beneficial for him as well as the band. If he wasn't happy and wanted more creative freedom, then he did the right thing. Ghostkid kicks ass and the last three years have proved how well Nico gels with EC.

    Eskimo Callboy really took off with their last 2 clips, they do something that no other band does now.

    • @lknephel3363
      @lknephel3363 2 роки тому +24

      No, they already did. They just got better at marketing and happened to make a viral song. Which is ironic, because in my opinion they made some way better songs in the past than Hypa Hypa. People tend to forget about their albums, but each of them was pretty unique in its own way.
      Sushi does something that no other band does too, and his album is artistically and musically waaaaaay more interesting than Eskimo Callboy's last EP. But without the "pop" vibe and the gimmicks, it won't get as far, sure.

      @@lknephel3363 can't agree; just because it's "funny" metal-with-electro influence, doesnt mean it's artistically worse than ghostkids album. Btw Eskimos first albums were not "onpoint" at least for me, but with Nico and hype hype you feel how much fun they are having and especially Kevin is much more integrated again.
      But music is subjective, for me, ghostkids album is great, but I never listen to the last three songs because they are not my cup of tea. So, there is no reason in fighting witch band is better :D

    • @lknephel3363

      @@R-SXX Where have I said that one is objectively worse than the other ? Or that EC's last songs don't deserve to be praised because it's "just funny metalcore" ? I used the term "interesting", not "better", for a good reason.
      I was just replying to a comment saying that Eskimo Callboy is now making something that no other band does. Which for me is wrong, as they always have done their thing. And this video being about Sebastian, I just added that he too is doing something unique, more unique in my opinion. That's it. There is no fighting, there is no judgement, just opinions and reminders that there are some good things beyond Hypa Hypa and We got the moves (as OP mentioned "2 last clips" and I'm assuming it's those 2).

    Good to hear his side of the story. Honestly I thought the new style on The Scene and especially on Rehab was the direction Sushi wanted to take the band. After two albums with the lighter more poppy sound I thought they decided to amicably part ways due to creative differences. It's kinda funny though because after the split it seems like they both went back to a heavier style/sounds, so honestly I was wondering where the creative differences were that caused the split in the first place. Oh well, I'm sure there's always a spot for Sushi in Eskimo Callboy were he ever to want back in...

      Sometimes if a band has multiple creative individuals, they can get stuck not going in the direction they want to go because they each believe the other one(s) want to stick with a certain sound. If you remove one of those people, suddenly the other feels they have more freedom to pursue that sound. That's how you end up with the existing band and the new band both going the same direction. It's really better for both bands though because it shows there were communication problems that weren't being addressed and now you have two bands that sound great.

    Sushi/ghostkid was what I loved the most about Eskimo callboy! His style in video outfits and his crazy awesome voice! That's what I loved about Eskimo callboy! I listen to the old Eskimo callboy songs and they where the absolute best! Right now I still love Eskimo callboy! And i really think Nico pulls it off real well! But ghostkid/sushi does a great job on his own! His songs really let out that voice! I love it! I will bring back the time when him and to the rats and wolves made that song together and I didn't know he was in it cause I was just listening to the rats and wolves on spotify.. but when he came up in there I lost my sh#t! I was like "damn!! that hits the spot" was really upset when he left EC.. And was shocked Nico was there new singer.. but was pumped to here him sing in it.. then I was even more pumped when I found out ghostkid was releasing his own album! Straight fire 🔥

    I like his solo thing more(I still like eskimo callboy and Nico seems to like the route that band wanted to go) . You kind of could tell with his last songs , honestly with the last 2 albums that Sushi wasn't really into it. Especially nice boy song just felt rushed. He hated song frances . He is into metal and Nico is more into hip hop so it makes sense that he could not identify with the music because its kind of hard to make a good song if you hate the music you have to sing on.

    • @chadhenry961
      @chadhenry961 2 роки тому +1

      Did you mean to say Sushi is into hip hop? Cause many Ghostkid songs have strong hip hop elements (like “This this not Hollywood), and he guested on a rap track. Meanwhile Nicos only rapped on 2 songs since joining Eskimo callboy and it’s more of a pop style rap with no hip hop elements musically

    I kinda miss the time around 2013 tbh, I mean I still listen to EC, wbtbwb and so on, but I've had my best times back then with EC with sushi, ttraw with nico, wbtbwb with paul, no offense to Tobi btw, wbtbwb had a great impact on me back when they started out... idk the german core scene feels kinda
    disrupted. And yes I know that's a highly subjective opinion and shouldn't be taken objectively by any means. Nostalgia just kicked in 😂

      Probably not with the exception of Danny whom he is very close with and played in Ghostkid for a little bit when it first started… Just my assumptions but Start a fight being the first track and he himself stated it could be about anyones personal conflict with someone close. I don’t think they’re cool with each other at all. I think they’re all very professional and would never make it publicly known though. My gut tells me it probably did not end well at all, which that happens and it’s fine. I preferred EC with Sushi, but without this happening we would’ve never had GK & I love GK’s vibe and sound big time.

    Objectively if I had to choose a singer, Sushi vs. Nico, Sushi would win. He's just a better singer. But at various points, both singers fit better into the band structure of EC. There's no way I could see Nico pulling off the songs from Bury Me In Vegas or The Scene better than Sushi, but I loved his cover of Prism, and I honestly couldn't imagine anything from MXII with Sushi on it sounding better, because it's written for Nico's style. Both bands/artists are doing amazingly right now, and I listen to both of their stuff. We get the best of both worlds, 2 albums where there would have only been one before!

      I don't know about being a "better" singer, but yeah Sushi was bringing something unique and more more variety. Now they are pretty formulaic. Kevin screams... Nico sings... Again and again. Whereas Sushi was less predictable.
