    Thanks, for showing how to open up my pc like yours. I totally forgot!
    Hmm somehow, it’s hard to open, and can’t open it easily. Anyone knows how to do this? Or just apply little more force?
    Oh I just found out to unscrew the top, near the hedges and then switch the switch.
    Now you can open it easily.

      It is 32gb 2400 ram, i7-6900k, sli gtx1080, 1tb ssd, 4tb spin storage, also got an Acer Predator X34 3440*1440 over clocked to 100mhz refresh with gsynch and display port. Hopefully will run everything pretty well. Cost a small fortune in the UK but I love the unique case shape, was getting bored of glowing self built boxes.

      If they could hold the old ones they can def would the news ones although I'm quite sure rtx is only two way SLI now. And SLI is dying so just go for a 2080 super 2080ti or 5700xt for 1080ti like performance

    i found the whole retention system of the PCIE cards annoying. it has this kind of back plastic switches, but then it also has traditional screws which are not that easy to get as the chassis border blocks a direct angle at them. in other machines with plastic retention brackets are meant to replace the screws, i dont get what they were trying to achieve to have kind of fake tool free access but you still need tools.

    • @DanielRodriguez-fg5ll
      @DanielRodriguez-fg5ll 7 років тому

      thanks. I have learned to cope with not all the way in screws, as it is impossible to get at them at a direct angle. I think they should make a single retention bracket for the whole set of PCIE akin to Lenovo P900's, even if with scews but at least they will be two screws to handle and not two for every card. I have two GPUs and a PCIE to M2 card and I dread the moment I would need to upgrade or service them. I think the alternative is to have one of this L-shaped scredrivers to be able to get at them.

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou 6 років тому +1

      so do you want to build it yourself, or do you want Alienware to build it? Remember, as I mentioned in the machine, back when I filmed it (2 years ago) the cost was only about $415.89 lower than building it yourself, this is no including shipping of each individual part, which could have ended up either even or a few dollars less. Factor in the cost of labor and time building the machine, electricity, warranty, support and the Alienware brand the machine was VERY cheap. You can check out my review here, but if you want, I can individualize all the parts for you so you can check it out on amazon and see what it would cost you, just let me know what parts you chose: www.dragonblogger.com/review-of-the-alienware-area51-r2/

    Excellent full review.
    I own the same with some different. I bought it before 3 months.
    I already upgraded the stoke ssd with 512 gb 860 pro OS and added 1tb 850 evo for games.
    As for the m.2, i asked some great ppl in Alienware forum and they advice me to buy an Pcie adopter which will allow me to attach my new 512 gb 960 Pro, with up to 2300 mb/s reading and up to 1800 mb/s writing. The adopter will be installed in the 3rd Pcie.
    Now iam planning (but not sure) to upgrade the stoke Motherboard with any Asus or Msi gaming which should be compatible with i7 9800k cpu. So do you advice me to do this upgrade? What is the positive/negative i will earn for that upgrade?
    My Cpu is running at 4.3 ghz staple without changing any of the voltage.
    I don't know if i change the motherboard if that will help me to push the cpu up to 4.6 ghz.
    Your advice please!!
    Thanks

      to be honest i was bothered by it too so i search the internet and found some answers that is saying for a gpu X8 and X16 wont affect the actual gpu performance in game 0 fps loss and the minimal fps loss during bench marking was soo small 1%. i dont think its worth of a bother. and yes i think the 1st slot is x8 only because of the CPU 5820k they said it changes depending on the CPU ur using with it.

      during all of my testing, this never overheated was always relatively cool, you are more than welcomed to check out the full review: www.dragonblogger.com/review-of-the-alienware-area51-r2/ and within the review I provide thermal testing as well.
      If you have this machine on the carpet, or in a cabinet, take it out of there, put it up on the table, and do not block the exhaust or intakes, that will 100% kill your machine and also clean it out when you can, do it least every 6 months if not more. If the fans are clogged, it cannot cool, try breathing through a pillow for an hour, it is difficult.

      +Iggy Castillo The part where you say the cards start from the bottom is incorrect. If you have a 5820 CPU you have 28 lanes. The top is x8, the middle is x16 and the bottom is x4. If you only have one GPU, I would suggest putting it in the middle slot so you can have the most bandwidth for you GPU.

    • @criticalshot516
      @criticalshot516 8 років тому

      +Iggy Castillo Me and my friend have this PC, most importantly "motherboard". I have my GPU's in SLI. GPU-Z lists my first card as x8 and the second as x16. After seeing your vid I called my friend to ask him was his single card showing x16 or x8. He said it was at x8, then I told him the last/bottom slot was the x16 according to your vid. He put it in the bottom slot and it was x4 and then cursed me because that damn screw was hard to put back in. In the end he put it in the middle slot and it was @ x16. Maybe if you have a CPU with 40 lanes then something is different. With the 5820 I am absolutely correct.

    A shame they skimp on quality when it comes to the motherboard, memory, and mechanical drives "they're slow even for mechanical and they use green drives"... At that price they should be using multiple 500gb SSD's and one good 7200 RPM mechanical drive, along with 2400mhz memory, an ASUS ROG motherboard or something like a MSI mobo, or any other number of good boards out there. I see why there is no window. They just cram everything in there without hiding the wires or tieing them up neatly which also helps with airflow and dust. They have some basic crap inside that thing because they're trying to make a huge profit off of people who don't know any better. 4,000 for that fucking thing LOL.. They should have also put 980ti's for 4 grand. They still would have made a decent profit. Like I said, for people who don't know any better.

    • @budaramma
      @budaramma 7 років тому

      I think the price difference is much higher but lets say your number is right at $300 more. My point was that is $300 more that could of been spent on component upgrades resulting in much better system performance for the same price. To tell the truth the GPU price alone for all 3 was at close to your $300 markup estimation.
      Alienware systems are decent but your paying for the name not the hardware, as they are severely overpriced for what they are and you can't honestly depute that fact.
      Its fine if someone just has to have a Alienware system, there is nothing wrong with that at all, and your video was a good and interesting watch. All I was saying was a person could get a more capable system for the same price.

      right, I have had that config many times, its not always a bad thing and in one of my configs it actually improve thermals, that depends highly on how high the unit if overclocked, if its overclocked hardcore it would be horrible, but this had a moderate overclock... so it would not have been a bad thing. Sadly, I did not have a very long time to test it to reverse it to see which would have been better., You can check the review to see how it performed: www.dragonblogger.com/review-of-the-alienware-area51-r2/
