Not a lot of comments because the people who have enough biblical knowledge to comment are busy working in God's Kingdom and not trying to mind the business of others because God does it permit us to correct other people's gifts. But I am going to listen to this video a couple more times before I comment and then I will give a detailed response with minute by minute reactions every time I hear error. I will post my comments here and I hope that TMS does not take them down out of fear of being exposed. I have been listening to this calvinist error in teaching off and on for over a year and I'm going to have to say something now. Probably starting tomorrow because obviously women are not permitted to teach so my comments will simply be my personal testimony in response to these videos.
Speaking in tongues,is the utterance of the born again, filled with the THE HOLY GHOST!!! HOLY GHOST Himself gives the utterance as you by faith speak.God does not changed!!!! JESUS never changes!!! He is still filling born again people, with the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of tongues!!!!!
I appreciate this teaching, as my husband is incarcerated currently. I can not confer with him regarding this matter and I am getting negative backlash from the "Beth Moore/Joyxe M/Bethel" fan clubs taking issue to my recent social media posts that confirm my proud stance in 1st Timothy Chapter 2 Verse 12. As considered by this crowd to be an "anointing", I have also voiced a firm conviction that speaking in tongues is Not an ability we as believers have today. To include resurrecting the dead, the unfortunate tragedy and misinformed message behind a relevant hashtag this past week "wake up Olive" has brought attention by those not of the true faith and misled pagans to my social media accounts because of my opposition as per written scripture. Again, thank you.
Practitioners of glossolalia will often argue that there are thousands of languages spoken in the world today; therefore, how can anyone know that a given ‘tongue’ is not actually one of these? The answer is quite simple: Yes, there are indeed thousands of languages spoken in the world today - unfortunately not one of them is even remotely close to what practitioners of glossolalia/tongues are producing. Real language is unmistakable, and glossolalia is not it. Tongues/Glossolalia is to these Christian believers a very real and spiritually meaningful phenomenon, but consisting of emotional release via non-linguistic ‘free vocalizations’ at best - the subconscious playing with sounds to create what is perceived and interpreted as actual, meaningful speech. Biblical "tongues" should be understood as real languages, not ecstatic utterances.
This is an awesome teaching! Too many people believe the gift of tongues to be something that it's not. Rambling off incoherent gibberish never has nor will it ever be a mark of spirituality. How blasphemous it is for man to credit his bafoonery to the Holy Spirit!
What this poor minister doesn't know about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, is MUCH. IT IS SAD!!!!!! There are divers kind of tongues!!! The poor man has totally MISSED, what the Bible says about the Power that is in Being Filled With Holy Ghost!!!
Thank you for this lecture, which has bolstered my own views on this subject and provided much comfort. My wife and I attended a charismatic church when we first became believers. As new believers it seemed impossible to oppose such practices which the leaders wholeheartedly endorsed. We, thank G-D, repented of 'speaking in tongues' very early on as we felt convicted by the HS that this was wrong. But may I be so bold as to add a Hebraic perspective, that was not part of your lecture. The term "tongues of men and of angels" (1 Cor. 13:1), simply connotes a distinction to the Jewish mind. The tongue of angels, being the lashon hakodesh (the holy tongue - Hebrew) as opposed to the tongues of men, being the gentile languages. In Jewish thinking, this has always been what is understood by these expressions. So was Paul using hyperbole? Yes of course if we understand the context. Does Paul's expression "tongues of men and of angels" connote the distinction of Hebrew from other languages? Also, yes of course. Also; 1 Corinthians 14:18 "I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all" refers to the fact that as a trained rabbi, it was essential for Paul to know many languages. We know that Paul, for example knew not only Hebrew/Aramaic but also Greek, Latin (Roman), probably Arabic (having spent time in Arabia) and possibly Syriac, to start with. Paul also intended to go to Spain. Why Spain? Did he also know Spanish? Thank you for your lecture. It was a real blessing.
Lots of verses are very confusing if you insist on reading Bible in Elizabethan English, which is today over 400 years old. Why not use a normal bible version? 1 Cor 14:2-4 doesnt seem complicated to me. 1Co 14:2 If you speak languages that others don't know, God will understand what you are saying, though no one else will know what you mean. You will be talking about mysteries that only the Spirit understands. 1Co 14:3 But when you prophesy, you will be understood, and others will be helped. They will be encouraged and made to feel better. 1Co 14:4 By speaking languages that others don't know, you help only yourself. But by prophesying you help everyone in the church.
Check Macarthur's note in his reference Bible on 1cor 14:2. You'll find something very different there compared to the 7 pts. used to try and prove Corinths tongues as known languages.
So what do you do with 1 Cor 14:2 where Paul writes; "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for "no" man understandeth him; howbeit in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries".? The purpose and need for "Gift of INTERPRETATION" from the same Spirit Acts 2 was the last days outpouring of The Spirit on all flesh as prophesied in Joel 2; 28.....which continues till Jesus returns....hence LAST DAYS....But, I believe, there is coming another great outpouring on all flesh as the endtimes are upon us.... In Acts 2 the tongues were not given to evangelize by standers but were and are the "evidence", "manifestation" of the outpouring....still the same today....although God can do whatever He chooses with His power and use this gift for evangelism.... This event happened, then others (Acts 2:6) spoke about it to people around in wonder of what was happening....which on their arrival to see they heard the marvelous works of God being magnified in many languages......it was That initial outpouring......there were 120 including the Apostles gathered that recieved and dont forget vs 13 where many find there place.....and many here are there also vs13 "OTHERS MOCKING" said, "THESE MEN ARE FULL OF NEW WINE" Sound familiar 🤔 😕

Guys I have a delimma. How do I know if I have salvation? How do I know if I have God's spirit? I thought I had it because of tongues, but how do I make this right and get his spirit?
I hope you got the answer you were seeking but just incase you didn't here you go you know if you have the Holy Spirit if have a repented of your sins and confessed Jesus as your Lord and Savior believing that he came as God In flesh to die for our sins and rise on the 3rd day so that we would not have to pay the price of sin which is death. Furthermore you know you have his spirit by the fruit that the His Spirit produces in us according to Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. I hope this helped.
How do I know for myself, whether I’m saved (i.e., a true believer) or unsaved (or even a false believer who assumes he is saved)? 1 John 4:13 “By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” The saved person is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit within a true believer transforms that person. He will therefore show through his words, his actions and his doctrine that he follows the Lord. Further, true believers will bear the fruit of the Spirit - the Spirit produces fruit in them (Galatians 5:22-23 - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control) - some bear more fruit and some less fruit, but they’ll all bear fruit. Is there any hope for me, if I find myself to be a false believer? Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” All I have to do is ask, seek, knock. Come to Jesus, with a humble and repentant heart, with self-denial and enter through faith in Christ alone - not depending on any good works that we may have done. And, Jesus’ promise is: John 6:37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out.” Thereafter, if I sin, what do I do? 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 2:1b “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous”
You mention interpretation of “meaningful language” at 16:05 -10, yet does not tongues of angels fit in this “meaningful langue” category? Sure, as they have quite a meaningful language before the throne of God and this is why Paul said; “ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,…” 1 Corinthians 13:1. Though you spend a great deal of time saying it is merely hyperbole. But here is a thought, what if it is not, and he did speak with tongues of angels? Really, you say at 23:00 does not match any new testament precedence? You are forgetting that Paul said tongues are of two categories, men and angels, and the one which no one can understand (Angels) is why he wrote, 1 Corinthians 14:2. At 32:20 you mention this 1 Corinthians 14:2, yet you fail to emphasize that this speaking in tongue is specifically, “not unto men” , but “unto God”: for "no man understands him.” Therefore, no man could understand, because it is intended for God, and not men. This then leads to verse 4, were this language “edifies” the speaker of the tongue, and no one else. So, to say this “edifying” tongue has ceased, is signifying that we today have no more need for being "built up in our faith", which is rather the height of absurdity, for we greatly have such need, more as we see the day approaching. Again, why would Paul say; “For the gifts and callings of God are without repentance” or in another translations; are “irrevocable”, Romans 11:29, meaning still here and not gone.
Instead of spreading the Gospel, walking in the Spirit, and studying the Word of God diligently, people are spreading false teachings and acquiring dangerous pride by misrepresenting the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
America has become a very sad case of Christianity gone cold. Just like in the days of the pharisees and teachers of the law the American Church is now full of theologians who deny the very power of the Gospel. These theologians are just like the pharisees in that, with scripture you can't out argue or correct them yet its only head knowledge they have but lack the experience of the scriptures they claim to defend. Paul said the letter killeth and the American Church has become a modern day classic example if this. Knowing the scriptures doesn't mean you know God, indeed the Pharisees, Priests, scribes etc knew the law and the prophets by head but failed to recognise the Messiah when He came. I have seen American preachers use the Bible to dismiss any power of the Gospel or working of the Holy Spirit in the Church its so sad. The Bible is a Spiritual book and Preachers like this have intellectualised it, dismissing anything that does not make sense to their minds forgetting God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. I pray for revival in America for things have gone so wrong.
Just show from scripture where the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are done away with today. Simple as that. Or are you basing this on your own lack of experience? Base it on Scripture alone. and you need to repent of your serious error.
Why should we interpret speaking in tongues in another way as indicated by the video? If your interpretation is true, than there is way to explain it, right?
Was this lecture delivered "tongue in cheek"? Why is it that people who DON'T speak in tongues ALWAYS hold such DEFINITE OPINIONS AGAINST the use of tongues? They remind one of Matt 23: 13 " Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharasees, you hypocrites.! You SHUT the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN in men's faces. YOU yourselves DO NOT WANT to ENTER, NOR will you LET THOSE ENTER who ARE TRYING TO". If Jesus were here on earth today, how many Christians would LISTEN and OBEY him?? When he walked through the Holy Land,, MANY people "followed" him but VERY FEW WERE WILLING TO OBEY HIM! Those who only followed him, EVENTUALLY FELL AWAY. If Jesus were here today, HOW MANY of us would CHOOSE to be DISCIPLED by him? Well, he sent the Holy Spirit as his REPLACEMENT! Jesus is God, and the Holy Spirit is no less God. IF thexHoly Spirit chooses to give us the gift of tongues, SURELY, it is because he KNOWS they are ESSENTIAL. Jesus' foundational teaching was "REPENT, for the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is NEAR". He healed the sick, cast out demons, cleansed lepers and raised the dead,-- THESE were some of the SUPERNATURAL signs, wonders and miracles that MANIFESTED to CONFIRM he was from God. Joh 3:1and 2. WHAT SUPERNATURAL SIGNS IDENTIFY US today as his followers?? The Bible? Not good enough. To the unbeliever, it is just a book that belongs to the church Jesus warned the Jews, Joh 5:39, "You study the Scriptures because you thinkthat BY THEM you posesses eternal life. THESE ARE THE SCRPTURES THAT SPEAK ABOUT ME, YET YOU REFUSE TO COME TO ME TO HAVE LIFE". D i
Hi Judith. I am a former Charismatic who can still speak in tongues (as practized by modern Charismatics). Busenitz is absolutely right. Modern glossalalia is neither biblical nor in anyway supernatural. Modern glossalalia is simply free vocalization that can be learned and imitated by anyone who is open to it, whether this person is a believer or not.
1 Corinthians 14:2 "For one speaking in a tongue speaks not to men but to GOD; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit."♡ Clearly there are tongues that are a private prayer language to edify the one praying AND there are tongues to prophesy to those of another language. I think those not having the gift get there boxers in a bunch....move on...use the gifts given you according to the Holy Spirit and I'll make use of those given me:)
Roger Olson roger don't give him the time of a day one of,thw biggest flaws found in this reformed theology is that the gifts have ceased. They have no scripture to back there stance on it. I speak in tongues not all are known tongues for some as Paul indicated were tongues of men and tongues of angels. This tho is not a primary doctrine that they seem to put at the forefront.
Thank you for posting this video! Thank you Dr. Bussenitz for your hard work and research that you put in to this lecture! ….This is Gold!

WHAT SUPERNATURAL SIGNS IDENTIFY US today as his followers?? The Bible? Not good enough. To the unbeliever, it is just a book that belongs to the church
Jesus warned the Jews, Joh 5:39, "You study the Scriptures because you thinkthat BY THEM you posesses eternal life. THESE ARE THE SCRPTURES THAT SPEAK ABOUT ME, YET YOU REFUSE TO COME TO ME TO HAVE LIFE".

1 Corinthians 14:2
"For one speaking in a tongue speaks not to men but to GOD; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit."♡ Clearly there are tongues that are a private prayer language to edify the one praying AND there are tongues to prophesy to those of another language.
I think those not having the gift get there boxers in a bunch....move on...use the gifts given you according to the Holy Spirit and I'll make use of those given me:)

Yes I’m your own language
so i pray in tongues sometimes. get over it.
no friend. You rather sometimes speak gibberish. That is the case
so show me from Scripture to back up your view point.
Roger Olson roger don't give him the time of a day one of,thw biggest flaws found in this reformed theology is that the gifts have ceased. They have no scripture to back there stance on it. I speak in tongues not all are known tongues for some as Paul indicated were tongues of men and tongues of angels. This tho is not a primary doctrine that they seem to put at the forefront.
agreed.
You speak gibberish sometimes. Use reasoning my friend
This guy is speaking rubbish. He has no idea what he is talking about. He is empty of the Holy spirit. I could not even listen to him till the end
How do you know he has no idea what he is talking about if didn't even listen to him till the end?
"I wont listen to him but I know hes rubbish."
How can you make such a declarative statement simply Bc he goes against what you believe
@Sovereign Grace Runner he is just wrong.
