Yea, can’t wait! I drive old cars, only on occasion, and it’s a pain in the rear to get the inspections, so I have to register mine as antiques, which leaves out the inspection but limits the times I can drive it, so yes HOORAY!
I guess its good if your a responsible person that keeps their vehicle in good condition. But what about those that let their vehicle become dangerous. You dont want to be in front of someone if their brakes fail!?
I worked in law enforcement after I stopped working as a technician. I can’t begin to tell you how many shops in certain parts of town never really inspected they just gave a sticker for money . Theirs only safety rules for those that follow the rules
You are talking about the safety inspection only, but some, heavily populated counties will still require the yearly "inspection" process, but just for emissions testing on vehicles equipped with such. So, while it will no longer affect you, with your old vehicle, others may still need to go in every year. I'm in one of those counties, but I drive a diesel, which doesn't require an emissions test, so I'm happy.
Had a dipshit inspecter fail me because of a tiny barely noticeable crack in my tail light. Got new smoked tail lights and head lights. Passed me and didn't care that my car did not have catbacks.
Should have said something sir I could have inspected your truck or zippy with no issues. Anyway I’m glad they’re doing away with inspections it can be a drag sometimes and we as techs don’t really see an advantage to it. We get .2 flag time for it so really not worth the time it takes.

Agreed. In 15 years, with 2 vehicles, only once did they make me do the brake test, much less the gas cap test.

Thank you for that input. Yes I also have had some "Jerk" inspectors and some cool ones.

Thank you Mr. Reynolds for the help. I also was a state inspector in 1973- 75 at a dealership. It paid .2 back then. You make me Proud.
