I love this classic 1936 20th Century Fox movie Pigskin Parade! The adorable, very pretty Judy Garland looks similar to Dorothy Gale in this scene! This is pure movie magic!
Thanks I've never see this, Judy's speaking voice is wonderful and her singing voice is beautiful and powerful. I always wondered if she had chosen a Broadway career, what it would of been like.
I love this! Her performance here gives you a really good idea of how she would've done Annie Get Your Gun if she was in good health and spirits for it.
So funny, I’m doing work at home and listening to Judy singing at the train station. She finished and just automatically I just stop working and started applauding. You cannot help celebrate this girl. Fun to see Jack Haley without silver paint on his body!
MGM at this point had no idea what to do with relatively newcomer Judy Garland, so for her very first full length feature film, they lent her out to 20th Century Fox. Needless to say, after watching her performance in Fox's 1936 Pigskin Parade, for the next 14 years, they never lent her out again. At the time, audiences were amazed by this young girls mature voice, and MGM knew it had something special on it's hands.
Putting together all of Judy’s scenes and numbers is such a good idea! Please make clips for the other films if possible:) I like raw energetic young Judy in this and early films.
@@TheGarlandGab oh thank you... I remember in the 80s movies were broadcast on tv but I was a child (boy) ... (doubled into spanish)... I prefer to hear Judy's real voice ... She was a lovely woman (I hope I have written correctly 😅)
@@patwhittington9207 oh yes of course, sorry when you said it was on UA-cam, I though you meant the free version that is poor quality, of course you can rent the proper version. Thank you, Susan for pointing that out. (Sarah)
I really wonder if this was what put the idea in Mervyn LeRoy's head to cast Judy as Dorothy Gale. I mean, look at her when she first appears! That's darn close to the dress that W.W. Denslow drew Dorothy in.
Undoubtedly, The greatest voice in the history of the cinema, bar none!

She would have been amazing on Broadway!
Prettiest young lady I ever did see, never mind the voice.
Nobody and I mean nobody, like our Judy.

Most definitely!
“I can sing. Y’all wanna hear me” how ADORABLE
This is absolutely amazing! ❤

She definitely has that effect!
It's interesting how even her speaking voice was so rich and melodic, particularly at such a young age.
Yes, her speaking voice was also magical.

We will try. We have a video of her scenes in Words and Music.
The day I complete my English studies I will be able to understand the context... for the moment I enjoy being able to see Judy 🤗
We'd be happy to try and explain if we can! (Conor)

@@cristianra979 you have written perfectly. I was a child in the 80s too and remember her films on TV here in the UK. (Sarah)
@@cristianra979 p.s what a cute cat. I absolutely love cats! 😊 (Sarah)

Thank you for this!
You're welcome xx
❤❤❤
Wonderful, I haven't seen that film. Will try and access it!
It's available on DVD. Judy's first feature film.
@@TheGarlandGab oh thanks!
You can rent it on UA-cam!
Interesting in some shots Judy is well below Amos’ shoulder in height and then in other shots she’s way above his shoulders. Love that tiny girl.

"The Te-xshush tornado..." LOL
She had an adorable lisp as a child.
I think those caps in her teeth made her sound that way.
the main plot (football player) is cute and funny, but the musical numbers are awful.
Thank God MGM had better composers & choreographers.
