    Thank you for this video. The dealership told me to match the wiring and cut one at a time and it was wrong, after seeing your video I looked at the plug and released the pins from the new plug and installed them the way you described and cleared the check engine light and it worked great .thank you so much. We need more men like you in this world.

    I know this video has been out for quite a while but it's still helping folks. THANKS for the helpful video and especially explaining the change in wire location! I would have taken forever to trouble shoot without the info in advance. I just finished replacing the sensor in my 2013 RAM 1500. It was a real PITA splicing the wires which we all know are back at the firewall. It's fun lying on top of the engine to work when your 60 and have a bad back. Truck running now with no codes indicated on display. Only thing I noticed is my initial high idle when the truck is first started is about 3-400 rpm higher than it was before. Only lasts a few seconds at 15-1600, then settles back to the usual 11-1200 rpm with cold engine. Not a big deal but I found it to be a bit odd. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm hoping it will resolve once the truck has been driven several times.

    I was beating my head against my tool box trying to figure this out. Truck would start then shut off after replacing fuel sensor. I checked and rechecked and tripled checked the wiring making sure to match the same pin locations. The new kit included instructions to make sure to use twisted pair if your truck already has it but didn’t give the updated pin locations. Thank you for your service sir!

    Thanks! Stopped the frustration our shop was feeling trying to figure out if the new sensor was bad or not ,no wiring instructions with it.Wire harnesses from Chrysler always were rewired in same config.as one being replaced...until now.You should get paid for this info! THanks!

    Very Helpful, would like to add the following: New design fuel sensor/line from MOPAR Pt# 68543905AA (for 3.6 eng) does not come with the new wire plug that is needed, you are on your own to find one, MOPAR was NOT helpful in finding one. NAPA Part# EC2219 is the new smaller plug you will need.

    So I had the P018C code. I replaced the sensor with the new one and am pretty sure I got the wires right. I did have to swap two pins and had a very difficult time getting the pins back in. It's as if the barb on the pins deformed a plastic tab inside the connector. I cleared the codes but now I have a confirmed P018B and permanent P018B, P018C, and P1DD2 codes. I haven't been able to find much about the P018B and P1DD2 codes. Do I have a defective sensor? Pins not in the right positions? Pins not making good connections? These only showed up on my first startup after replacing the sensor and wiring.

    • @MJAltairy
      @MJAltairy  5 місяців тому

      How old is your scanner? It’s possible that it’s actually decoding the code wrong and you probably have a P018D now. I would revisit the wiring/pins because it seems like they’re in the wrong pins now

    • @bkramkowski
      @bkramkowski 5 місяців тому

      @@MJAltairy I use OBDLink MX+ with the latest firmware. So I've found OBDLink doesn't clear permanent codes. I have to drive around and as long as the condition generating the code is fixed, it'll eventually clear. I drove around for a little while today and The P018C code cleared. I still have the P018B and P1DD2, neither of which can I find much about. But since I don't have the P018C or D, I assume my wiring is OK. My truck is the 2017 Ram 1500 crew cab, 5.7 l Hemi.

    • @user-lp3cf5yn5b
      @user-lp3cf5yn5b Рік тому

      @@MJAltairyI checked, won't work. The original connector pins are a bit larger than the new ones. What they should do is make an adapter kit that's plug and play. But I guess they figure that's what they pay techs for. It's definitely in an awkward spot and they don't give a lot of wire to play with in the original harness. That to me was the worst part, trying to get the wires to stay in the crimp splice while I'm trying to squeeze the handles and then using a lighter to shrink the supplied tubing. Needless to say I saved the actual sensor removal and replacement for after I was finished with the wiring.

    You don’t get special information for being in the automotive engineering field. I work at a dealership and would charge you double lol. In all seriousness though you need to know a tech at the dealership. Also most manufacturers make us promise not to share proprietary information from their online systems. Doesn’t make sense because aftermarket obviously gets them for programs like Alldata.

    • @MJAltairy
      @MJAltairy  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah no I hear ya. It wasn’t really special information, it’s just a simple wiring schematic for that harness which I was after. Something as simple as this is 5v, grnd and signal wire location.
      I actually worked as a diagnostic scantool engineer for Witech scantool development at one point with FCA and dealt with alot of service techs/writers in the field. And just from experience, I kinda know some of the resources they have access to but I get it and alot of times, they’re usually younger inexperienced individuals who answer the phones. Not throwing shade at the business, it’s more of a frustration with the few individuals whom I had conversations with when I called asking for help. I will say that one person in the parts department did everything he could to try and get me some answers though so props to that individual.
