  • Let's take a look at this rusty 1993 Dodge Caravan that I found in the junkyard. How bad can it be? It could also be had as a Plymouth Voyager or Chrysler Town and Country

Rebuild, not build. Chrysler already built it, the hobbyist rebuilds it.

Yup, 1993 model year with the VIN for the win: 2B4 for Canada made Dodge MPV, G for dual airbags, H25 for Dodge Caravan, 3 for 3.0L V6 with MFI, aka "Messy Mitsubishi", 2 is a check digit, P for the 1993 model year, R for Windsor Ontario Canada assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Windsor Ontario plant opened in 1928 and still operates today and has been the main minivan plant for decades. In the US, the St. Louis, MO (Fenton) plant was the main plant, but most production went over to Windsor fairly early on and all of it by 2009 when Fenton closed. The 3.0L V6 was an oil burning heap.
The minivan was originally brought up by Lee Iacocca to Henry Ford II (aka "The Deuce") but Mr. Ford rejected it stating it would take away from wagon sales. After Mr. Ford and Mr. Iacocca "parted ways" in 1978 (aka he got fired), Mr. Iacocca pitched the idea at Chrysler, and it was a go. Along with Mr. Iacocca came Hal Sperlich over to Chrysler who would spawn many "Sperlich Specials" by adapting the K-car architecture to many models, including the minivan platform. Mr. Iacocca essentially gave Mr. Ford a "kick in the rear" by introducing the minivan in 1984 at Chrysler, because after that, GM would respond with their minivan (Astro/Safari) in 1985 and Ford would follow with the Aerostar in 1986, a full two years later. By then, Chrysler had dominated the market already. Theirs drove the best of all three, because it was a car based (not at truck based like GM or Ford's offerings) platform.
No tag, can't brag, but this is either code PW7 or GW7 Bright White exterior paint.

@@googleusergp So if they started 1980 with an A why did they skip 3 letters to get to P in 93

That caravan has a lot of good parts to put together a first gen with a good drivetrain & chassis/body.
