    This reminds me of my winter hikes in F.Banks Alaska. I would hike for three days in the dark winter. I could never get away from the noise of snow machines. I think noise and light pollution are things most never think about.

    that was very cool. the x3 could benifit from ski like gards to slide over rather than dig in, and some rear steer. that turning circles going to cause more driving problems, also you could hang storage bins off the rear bumper in track form for extender use and gear. haha the designer inside love seeing you engerneer your ridesawsome vids!!

    Great video, very obvious the new Can am tracks work the best, could you add into the description the name of all the track types used. Kudos to the first timers on tracks in the snow, wow! Watching your video, I have learned that when using tracks and need to winch out of the snow when stuck is to attach the cable up high on a tree and not to spin the tracks fast this way there is lift from the winch and cable attachment location to get back up on top of the snow, and by not spinning tracks which digs the machine back into the snow a person can get a machine out of the snow whole👍😁 Great video for learning! I think I have it figured out befor I even get tracks! Way to awesome!

  • @shperax
    @shperax 4 роки тому

    I remember when you could get stuck in that snow with a snowmobile from the 70's/80's. You lose some of the thrill when you know you can't get stuck now with a new sled, unless you do it on purpose. Makes me wanna get tracks for my ATV and rip it up.

    A friend and I have tracks on our Can Am ATVs. In deep snow, I smelled my belt overheating and backed backed off the throttle. But my friend continued riding hard. This promptly destroyed his belt, despite having custom primary and secondary clutches. QUESTION: Do either the riders here or viewers use supplemental fans to force additional belt cooling, and if so, what is used?

    • @ostacruiser
      @ostacruiser  5 років тому

      Fans only work at very slow speeds. Anything after that they become a choke point for air, clean, well functioning clutches should be all you need. If it is super deep or thick then ride in low range. Aftermarket clutches do help a ton though

    • @gregparrott
      @gregparrott 5 років тому +1

      ostacruiser Thanks for the reply and the great video. Although some people suggest it, I suspected that any practical sized 12 Volt fan would only draw perhaps 20 Watts - too weak to help much. Also, axial fans only flow well if there is no back pressure. Squirrel cage blower fans handle back pressure better. Still, drawing at least couple hundred Watts may be needed to provide sufficient air flow. (But, I'd really like a GEARED transmission)
