Echoing everything Jorge just said. Old hobby drummer for 49 years and I'll say 👸HARUNA🥁⭐🏆 has become and inspiration...my favorite metal drummer. LOVEBITES rhythm section is part of a composed ensemble that stays mainly in the pocket to support the twin-attack leads of M&M, and this is the core structure of LOVEBITES songs. You won't find drum solos on LOVEBITES tracks, but make no mistake...HARUNA's skill set is elite class. It's rare to hear a drummer that can deliver the rests and spirts in her peddle work that perfectly accent the rhythm at these insane BPMs. That plus, her ability to add such tasteful fills along with that dynamic cymbal work she does while staying so elegantly in the pocket that sets her apart. It's her signature touch and it can go unnoticed to the untrained ear. The absolute epitome of how to service the band...she's got nothing to prove to anyone. 🤘🐺🤘
The thing I've always loved about her is that she doesn't really hit with so much power. She is such an efficient drummer. No wasted energy. The big sound at the concerts comes from the mics & the Eq setup at the mixing desk. And also in the post production I would imagine. She is such brilliant little drummer.
I dont think i have ever seen her without the star cymbals. 🥁🌟🎶 I have seen a lot of their photos in the studio when they are practicing and even then the star cymbals are there! I guess she likes to practice spinning them!! Haruna is such a huge inspiration!! Not just because she is fantastic, but also her playing style. I always find her drum tracks to be so dynamic and fresh, especially when compared to most power metal drumming out there that i know of.. She is on another level for me and is constantly doing these accents and stabs, always something to draw your attention! Sadly there isn't much material of her out there in terms of drum cams, but she has posted some small bits on Twitter. The only official full drum cam of her is of the song "Raise Some Hell" in the Five of a Kind show. She is such a beast!! 🤘🐺🤘

Japan has no shortage of super talented female drummers. I agree that there should have been a foot cam. That would have been pretty wild. BAND-MAID included a foot cam for Akane for the Unleash bonus DVD instrumentals. It was pretty neat.

I think she defines Lovebites sound. Love her trademark bells/ 8" china and cymbal accents. Man! I cannot wait the day you do a reaction to their new materials.
This little lady is a nuclear fueled motor of the machine of awesomeness. Even when you listen to some Destrose track, when she was only around 20, you can already recognize her relentless style in bass drums and her funny game she has with her symbols. PD: For the Babymetal show I would say that those two shows you had are ok already. Legend 1997 and the Budokan'14 are the better exposure to see how a full Babymetal show was around that early first album era. Those shows are all of the stuff that is around here in the UA-cam, as Five of a Kind is what most of the stuff from Lovebites comes from in this platform.
Adorable. Simply adorable. As a fan of Rush I obviously use Neil Peart as the yardstick for drummers. But his was a completely different style and so comparing him with Haruna is rather like comparing dog with yellow! Obviously she’s got to be amongst the very top tier of drummers playing today, but I wouldn’t know, listening only to Lovebites as I do!🙂 There were times in this video where it barely seems possible that she can remember the routine, let alone play it, and at that speed. Lovebites, happy metal with the world’s cutest, happiest drummer.
It's crazy for sure! A lot of it just become muscle memory and there are times you don't even realize you are playing parts because you've done it so many times. LOL
She is so efficient with her arms. The moves are compact, and it appears her playing style allows for her to play faster longer because she isn't wasting any excess energy on movements just for show. She's basically a trained marathon drummer. And she is so cute.

With all Japanese bands, my second look is to watch someone is isolation. With Lovebites and Nemophila it's Tamu and Haruna. The amazing thing with Haruna is that she goes like this for the entire performance! I assume she walks off the stage, me out on a stretcher. I believe most of the top drummers all know one another. I think their "God-Mother" is Nao.
As a drummer can you make a guess as to what the beat count is at the beginning? As I understand it you hit the snare on the 2 and 4 and and when she is playing normally through that song it looks like shes hitting the snare 3 or 4 times in a second which would be a 180 to 240 BMP. if I understand correctly.
It' can be really hard to to know exactly what a BPM is written in for a specific section of a song. That's because the actual BPM the song is written in could be different, but they are playing a section in a double time feel (which essentially is a doubling of the tempo). That said, I'd say your estimate is probably about right.

I have developed an interest in Drum theory, the whys and when, you do certain things. I know in this and many other songs that are not "pop dance music" changing tempo, double time half time and switched from common time to odd time signatures is fairly common.
Howdy GMG. Did I enjoy this show? Hell yeah, no other way. I remember in a UA-cam reaction channel Gaijin Guys. It's a channel four reactors talk about music, and the member varies time to time. Once they were talking about Lovebites, and a female reactor said "THE DRUMMER IS BORING"!!! I couldn't and still can't believe such a person was or still is on UTube as a reactor.....She can dislike the way Haruna drumming but no way she is a boring drummer.

Nice she has a number of these, all too short. Thinking about drumming l wonder if you're familiar with Yoyoka ? She has many drum covers that U might enjoy. Well worth checking out.
Here is a woman who is at the top of her game and as a drummer is one of the finest in this genre and she is a big favourite of mine alongside my all time greats of Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy. However I have began to notice her style in some respects is similar to Senri Kawaguchi. Senri for me is the finest drummer I have ever seen, a Japanese Jazz and fusion drummer and has played rock. She is a powerhouse and at 25 yo is most respected by her peers!! I seen her in 2015 in France at Rock au Chateau festival and she literally took my breath away. I'm 61 and I have seen some of greats drumming in Metal and Jazz but Senri tops the lot. She does a lot with Drumeo and I sure my friend you know about them. UA-cam views to date almost 45 million. Personally I can watch her for hours!! So, my advice to you go visit Drumeo and take a peek 😉😎
As you can see/hear, her splash hits are dead on on sync with the song. The strong and important words get a splash. And during guitar solos she uses the snare drum and have a kind of galloping play, enhancing the solo.

Looking at the videos listings, appear you haven't discovered Junna which is about the same style but (to me) even more entertaining, or Senri Kawaguchi which is more jazz fusion oriented but insanely talented. Junna more entertaining? You'll understand when you see it - she can replace anti depressants 😉While I prefer progressive rock/metal over blastbeats and jazz, all these just blow my mind.
You probably don't see any Junna on the channel because I've watched her stuff for a LONG time and an quite familiar with how insane she is. LOL Thanks!
