Thanks for visiting the Mitsuwa Marketplace! This place is very close to my heart and the last time I visited there was 30 years ago with my mom when it was a YAOHAN supermarket complex. It was one of the first large Japanese supermarkets in the TriState area at the time and It looks almost the same but the layout is similar to the Mitsuwa Torrance, California branch. Glad to see the store is still in great shape and they kept the quality of the food and restaurants high and we hope you will get a chance to show us the other parts of the complex on your next visit. Thank you and we look forward to seeing your next video! Warmest regards from your fans in Tokyo.
My husband's family used to live in Okinawa. I miss walking through the grocery stores and seeing all the things that are so different from what I'm used to. Good to see some of the product again.
Little history of Edgewater it use to be a dump an industrial town filled with pipelines. Now its filled with luxury residential towers and shopping. I use to work in Edgewater and it has great views of the city. Also a container filled with canaries or parrots now make it their home and survive the winter.
ActionK you can always take the ferry back if you don't feel comfortable going up the hill to GWB. 2 ferrys, one up the road by route 5 or down the road by old Sea Train RR.
Love & miss visiting Mitsuwa! Next time you gotta try the Matcha LOVE by Ito En ice cream shop there.. the hojicha (roasted green tea) flavor is hands down the best there!! Great video, Kenneth - now we gotta schedule a time to go in-person... 😝
Thanks AK for coming here so that we don't have to take the subway to the Port Authority Bus Terminal to take the Bus 158! Supermarket, Food court, and a bookstore, all in one place!!
Your first vlog of travelling to this store was very well done and I was hoping you would show the interior of this amazing store. Now you have, thank you so much!
I've passed this place many times. Actually a few weeks ago. There looks like so much yummy foods to try.😋 I have to stop there one day. Great tour around. I love your spirit AK. You're adventurous!
The first time I see a video of the Japanese Market Mitsuwa it's cool that you filming this I don't know of any other UA-camr has done it but I've been coming to this place since the early 90s it's a cool place but it has chain a lot it used to be more better before they even had a big huge selection of Gundams they still have a selection but not as big as years ago still a cool place but it has changed a lot used to be more better before but cool video I'm glad you're doing it cuz not too many people know about this place👍😃
Fun video idea! Always nice to highlight and patronize local businesses. Next time you should try the food there and review it! Would love to know your thoughts
I have enjoyed this video of Mitsuwa Marketplace as I am a big fan of supermarkets. I need to have a friend like you that makes shopping so much fun. Have a wonderful day, be safe and thank you!
Mike Chen has a restaurant right near there. You should take a look. He ain’t there right now as he has that two weeks to do quarantining from Texas but he’s around.
I love to see anything that includes food. I mean, who doesn't? It's the source of life. Did you bought anything from here? It's cool that they let you film inside.
It was interesting to join the supermarket tour😃The price seems twice of Japan 💸 We eat eels mainly in summer that is well cooked by professional ;) The cock dive the cocked eels into a special sweet soysauce !! We all wanna see your reaction next time 😆
Please try Morinaga's biscuits "Marie" and "Choice"19:57. They are so good soaking in milk and eat. KEY coffee 500ml bottle and Calbee's potato chips too.
There are other shops he didnt mention. Go out the doors by the ramen place and there are more stores. Kinokunya which is a book store, stocks odds and ends, stationary, action figures, plushies and movies to rent. Next to that is Little Tokyo, which has more odds and ends, clothing, action figures, utensil and kitchen ware. They even sell kimonos. Continue your way out to the right and there is a store Daiso which sells general household/ other odds and ends. There are even more stores but I have never visited them to give an accurate review or say what they have.
I should come here more often since it's the only Japanese market in NJ. Instead I go to Hmart, Lotte, 99 Ranch, AFM & Kam Man, which are closer to home.
They have one in the suburbs of Arlington Heights away from Chicago also 😂. They also have a book store there with Japanese magazines and anime . There’s also one of the stall also sell Lady M cakes 🍰
Love Mitsuwa!! Used to go there all the time when I lived nearby. And I’ve never seen it that empty- on Saturdays it used to be packed wall to wall. Maybe this was a weekday morning? They used to have an awesome Japanese bookstore just across from it - and can’t forget Auto Freak! Is that still there?
Those onigiri look fresher than the ones I’ve seen at the Mitsuwa I’ve been to. There they’re packaged loosely in plastic cartons so the nori is all soggy and the rice is just a little dried out depending on how long it’s been out since the package isn’t sealed. Also your Mitsuwa is much bigger than the ones I’ve been too. Jealous of the size and variety of the food court.
Mitsuwa is not as good as it used to be 10 years ago. It used to be much more Japanese, better stuff, more events, and lots of unique items. Today it is not much better than Hmart or nearby Asian grocers. I miss all the live festivals and real Japanese products.
I visit the Mitsuwa in my area. Most of the products have English labels attached for the US markets. For the products without, there's Google Translate app on the smartphone😀👍
Adopt the truth! Not impressive Popular? nobody there!... Expensive! you say... and stopped calling the prices... Lots of stuff, however, empty shelves... A lot of pollution, expensive packaging, colorants and chemicals. You made this trouble trip, didn't buy one item, didn't eat at "the great food court" yet, keep ranting how great is it... Don't submit that easy! Shape your future right! Be critical if needed! Have the courage! If the emperor has no clothes say it!

ほぼ日本のスーパーマーケットですね。
凄い!!!
This is almost a Japanese supermarket in Japan. If I move to America, I want to live near Mitsuwa.

Going there soon and shared your video with my friends who haven't been there before. Thanks for your videos. :)
Very nice supermarket. Wish there was one in my hood.
So informative, thanks AK!
This is my favorite place in the entire planet:3

that sounds delicious!
Thanks AK for coming here so that we don't have to take the subway to the Port Authority Bus Terminal to take the Bus 158!
Supermarket, Food court, and a bookstore, all in one place!!
I used to go there quite often when they still had their own dedicated shuttle bus at PABT. I stopped going when the only option was NJT bus.
Your first vlog of travelling to this store was very well done and I was hoping you would show the interior of this amazing store. Now you have, thank you so much!
It was exercise to walk through this large store!
This was great especially that bakery yumm , thank you for showing this place and now it’s on my bucket list xoxo
I live right by here. Great place to shop for authentic japanese food.

I remember when it was called Yaohan Plaza supermarket in the 1990s

Very cool! I should check it out!
Loved it something new amazing brother

I been here before but not since like 4 years! God thanks for this tour!
The best part of this place is everything!
Best grocery store in the world
Love mitsuwa! Live like 10 min away!
Before COVID19, Mitsuwa Marketplace had shuttle bus from Mitsuwa Marketplace to Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Mitsuwa looked amazing when I lived in New Jersey, but now, living in Japan, it looks just like the local supermarket next to my house...
Not really
Love these vlogs wish you do mor like this.
yum
I love to see anything that includes food. I mean, who doesn't? It's the source of life.

Very nice!
I've been craving Bolied eel all week😳
Thanks for sharing
I was there in October I wish I could live in bldg across the street and on river road!
I used to work at this exact store, at Omusubi Gonbei. I loved every second of it, and I was able to learn a lot more Japanese. :D
. こんにちは

Happy you could make comparisons to your markets in Japan!
Bravooooo AK🌼💕🤩
Great video love the market!
In my area, the locally grown fruits & vegetables sold in "ethnic" supermarkets are cheaper than the "mainstream" store chains. 😀👍
Please try Morinaga's biscuits "Marie" and "Choice"19:57. They are so good soaking in milk and eat. KEY coffee 500ml bottle and Calbee's potato chips too.
Haha! No love for Royce’ Chocolate? 😜
Interesting place 😊
I would love to taste some of the delicacies 😊
Its a great market!!! I miss it

the last time i went the action figure shop had been unfortunately closed down, i hope they reopened it
Thanks for sharing, Ak 👍, we might plan to visit Japanese supermarket there, take 2 hours from Delaware, where we live 🤭, keep up a good work, Ak 👍👌😃
I most definitely have to check this spot out soon. Love me some sushi and some miso soup with some seaweed. Thanks for the heads up. Salute!

It was a weekday afternoon, I didn't even check the bookstore or the Auto Freak across from it. Maybe next time!
Great tour of this amazing supermarket ! Please check the sweets section next time to see how many unusual KitKat flavors they sell.
1. Next time I go to New York, I might have to take a detour through Jersey. 2. I was so hoping you would go through the book store.
Love Mitsuwa could you do other videos
Dude, that oden set was in fact 9.99!
Love that place, ate my first bowl of kimchi there :-)
Thank you for showing the pourtry part. It's too expensive. I shop some where else.
I'm not Japanese. I love Mitsuwa! Google Translate is my friend.😀👍
hey actionkid
ActionKid, if Mitsuwa Marketplace came to NYC where would you like it to be?
11:00 A5 wagyu
I have been there
Why all asian grocery stores obsess over the styrofoam with two fruits already with skin inside them .
I didn't know about this place, I'm now gonna take a little trip down south.
Not only is Wagu meat bad for your wallet but bad for your waistline. Probably 95% fat is why it's so tender and delicious. Melts in your mouth.

You have to learn Japanese to go shopping there
