My Wife's just picked up a KLF300. Has been sitting around for quite sometime. Fuel was more like kero or terps. BLoke she got it from said timing was out. I had replaced the carbie with a brand new one, as they're quite cheap and an easy install, after cleaning out the tank and putting in fresh fuel. got charge in the battery and was just popping out the exhaust. I will check the chain timing and see how we go. Thankyou for an excellent video. Nice and easy to understand and straight to the point!.
great video man. thanks a lot. ive been working on my 89 bayou for weeks, i couldnt find the right way to time it. you helped my out and saved me lots of time and money.
Thanks man. Been watching videos all night and came across a bunch of videos where people talk too much. Wich i would of watched yours in the begining. Great info
Just got an '05 model and it is backfiring at times. I plan to check the cam chain and adjust the valves at the same time. Thanks for the insight though,
from the service manual: in order to rotate the engine to TDC, remove the pull start assembly. It's 5 bolts, no gasket, easy to do. Then rotate the engine counterclockwise to TDC. No need to remove the cam gear cover for this procedure.
I just put a new piston jug assembly on my bayou 220. After install, something was wrong. Pulled timing cover and figured out timing gear wasn't turning when engine turns. Figured the chain must not be on teeth of gear on crankshaft and its just sitting beside the gear. Is there an easy way to get it back on?
@@isaacvisser2904 I did. Thanks. It was fun reaching down into the crankshaft from the top with a flashlight and piece of wire to manipulate chain. Finally got it.
i have a 1984 yamaha 200 shaft drive and the timing chain fell off of my lower sproket and i was able to get it back on but the problem i am having is i cant line the timing back up i have tried setting the flywheel to the "F" the "T" and the straight line and everytime i try i have my top sproket lined up so i guess my question here is is there anyway to line this all up without taking the flywheel out?
I have the same bayou but when I try to put it exactly on the T mark it moves forward just a little bit and my cam be exactly with that little mark but my T don't and yes I have to accelerate it to get it to crank so it might be off timing rite??
Great video! I found the T rotates twice for each time the top chain wheel rotates so sometimes the T shows when the dot is on the bottom...how do u know which T the top dot should be at or does it not matter?
Remember the crank turns twice to one time of the cam, so the T will line up twice, cam dot at top and cam dot at bottom for the next revolution,, its normal and both ways are the same, but line up dot at top because the mark is there.
Line your marks back up and put the chain back on. When you adjust the tensioner, leave the side cover off the head to check the slack in it as you adjust it.
Kawasaki Bayou 220 ATV 1989 no spark please help have replaced all elic parts one at a time (new parts) STATOR has .21 ohm STATOR has .20 ACV cranking COIL-PULSING .12 ohm. bus driver I’m having the same exact issue.. It sounded like a Cdi box so I ordered a “new” one off eBay and installed it and still doesn’t get spark.. and I can’t make myself by an actual brand new one from the dealer for 500 considering I paid 300 for the four wheeler.

excellent video man, perfect amount of talking, and great info. Made every word count.
Really appreciate you taking the time to make this vid
How did you time your camshaft ? Did you loosen the bolt on it and spring the ring or move the chain around it?
Thanks man. Been watching videos all night and came across a bunch of videos where people talk too much. Wich i would of watched yours in the begining. Great info
Thanks for the video. It helped a lot! Mine was 180 out of time and this helped it get back into working order. Appreciate it!
Lol you were on the wrong stroke your timing was just perfect

Nate T. Yeah but you can't change timing by doing that
yeah thats for valves not timing

You likely sheared the fly wheel key
thank you. that saved me a lot of time and aggravation.
thanks bro ,you the man

Does it back fire if it is off timed? Cause my 250 backfires really bad when I ride it.
Yesh that can be an out of wack exhaust valve
You are a legend
thx very much for the info. iv been going through the same shit. very helpfull bro.
Can't find the cross
Great help!!! Thank you so much!

Okay well I accidentally gave the chain too much slack an it jumped off the sprocket on the crank. What do I do?
Try to fish it out with a stiff wire (hook) or magnet. Try not to push it further down, only pulling it up. Good luck bud.
The chain came off the sprocket on the crank. It didn't fall down inside. I had looped some wire thru the chain beforehand

I don't think you guys understand. I can't get the chain back on. Not on the camshaft but on the crank
I can barely hear you in this video :/ It sure would help me, because my bayou is running a little tough also. But do you know where the idle pin is?
Thanks dude!

Thanks, and also designatedrider we couldn't hear very well either stick head phones in your computer and you can hear good.
does any one have a 300, is it roughly the same?
Yeah
good vid thanks
I can’t get my chain off
Remove chain tensioner
Thanks mate, life saver. Simple and to the point
Great vid, thanks!
midtnbulliesable, No it wouldn't (shouldn't) shoot into the motor because it presses against a tension lever that pushes on the chain.
Can't hear what he's saying not talking loud enough
